“Until then, the people of God also share in the judgment of death.  And before God wraps up history, more judgments will still fall on this planet.  We have not seen the end.”

Nearly everyone has heard of Samson; the man who was blessed by God in the Old Testament Book of Judges (Chapters 13-16 KJV) to begin taking the Philistines down a few pegs on the humility meter.  Samson had a good run but lacked focus on God and his true mission. He wound up having his hair cut (the source of his st

*Would you like to know one of the reasons behind the demise of “Promise Keepers”?  Well, in my humble opinion, the organization went down the tubes when it started to try to ‘please’ the women in our society.

*Would you like to know why more and more viewers are ‘turning off’ the Olympics, when they cycle around every four years?  Because those power brokers often shift their focus away from the broad, competitive spectrum and narrowcast to the women of society.

“God’s children run home when the storm comes on.”

--Charles Haddon Spurgeon

Here is an absolute of life:  God allows rain to fall on the just and the unjust (Matthew 5:45 KJV).  To be a card-carrying member of the human race means that bad times and bad things are going to happen to each of us, simply because of the fallen condition of man.  The difference between the Christian and the unbeliever?  The Christian has God to lean upon.  The unbeliever—no matter how talented or resourceful--do

TO REBUILD A PEOPLE

Every few years, it seems, a group of Blacks get together to come up with ‘The Black Agenda’. The cameras flash and speeches are made…but nothing seems to get done. Recently, I happened to sit in upon such a gathering, and was sorely disappointed with the discussions. You see, those of us who have a touch of gray in our hairlines, and have lived through the turbulent sixties know full well that we, as a people, successfully fought for--and won--many rights that were due u

A true story to lead off in our batting cage warm-up session.

A young man, out for his first political office, won the primary and defeated his challenger from within his party by a two-to-one margin. He was looking forward to taking a few weeks off and resting up for the campaign trail to the general election in November. Life--and his party--had other plans. The incumbent of his party that held the seat he was campaigning for suddenly resigned, and vacated the seat.
Remember how I menti

“When we’re faced with someone else’s success, it makes us think about why we can’t do it instead of how the other person did do it.”

“Everyday Millionaires”

There have been three great books on the subject of wealth that I have been blessed to read over the years. The first one: “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill. The second: “Think and Grow Rich: A Black Choice” by Dennis Kimbro, Ph.D. The third one is the newcomer “Everyday Millionaires” by Chris Hogan (2019, 250 pages,

One of the places where local party officials get access to a wealth of untapped volunteers comes--ironically--from your local school house. Students who take high school courses in Social Studies, U. S. History, Civics or American History are given the opportunity to earn extra credit by ‘working the polls’ during the primary and general elections.

Don’t be fooled. The ‘dirty little secret (DLS)’ is, while the ‘mainstream mess (MSM)’ cries about the ‘low scores of students’ IN public e

Those who gripe about politics don’t necessarily want to see problems solved.

They just want to talk about the problems and hope the problems will resolve themselves, with the least amount of damage to themselves and their families.

Those of us who are Men of color have just as much right as to run for elective office as the next person. The problem is that there are few in the way of resources available to encourage men TO get involved in politics; to build and coach men in the way

DOING RIGHT…IN A WRONG SOCIETY!

One of my favorite ‘toons from a bygone era featured ‘Droopy’ the dog. This canine would be in impossible situations, and through sheer determination would defeat his adversaries with comical dispatch. In one of these MGM classics, Droopy was in a series of Olympic-type competitions. Droopy won every event. However, his opponent had tricked Droopy into signing a confession that our hero cheated in every event. Well, of course, the judges threw out Droopy’s victorie

Author claims God cursed Africa, aims to prove theory in ‘Africa: The Glory, the Curse, the Remedy.

As a career politician and Christian, author Anthony Agbo – a senator in Southeastern Nigeria – often reflected on why Africa and Africans are so widely different from the rest of the world. This difference, he says, is a negative one.

In his new book, “Africa: The Glory, the Curse, the Remedy: A Biblical Perspective of the Africa Predicament” (pub

According to a 2012 Gallup International survey about religiosity and atheism, Ghana is one of the most religious countries in the world. At first glance, there is some evidence for this: when you land in Accra, you’ll notice churches everywhere you go. If you look even closer, you’ll see Mormon missionaries on their bikes throughout the country.

But are Ghanaians very relig

For most people in the world, to be photographed carrying a bible is harmless and cannot be elevated to a noticeable event.  No so in Al-Bashir’s Sudan.  This is the story of Hawa Abdalla, an ordinary Darfuri woman activist, working in the IDP camp of Abushouk, Darfur, where she is employed as a civilian member of UNAMID peace-keeping authority.  In May 8th, 11, the infamous government Sudan Media Centre (SMC), otherwise known as Sudan’s intelligence mouth, published

With All Thy Getting

February 10, 2011

Raynard Jackson

King Solomon, of the Bible fame, states in Proverbs 4:7, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting, get understanding.”

I assume that it’s still legal in the U.S. to mention or quote from the Bible?  I am not too sure; this can cause me to be accused of being insensitive to other religions—but, I digress.

As I reflect upon the current state of affairs in the world, I am seeking to get some understanding of a few things.

Am I the only one in the U.S. who is amazed by the media coverage of the person in Florida who wants to have a Koran burning party on Saturday, September 11th? Unlike the media, I refuse to name him because I will not contribute to his getting 15 more minutes of fame!

Even conservative media and talk show entertainers like Laura Ingraham have contributed to this circus. They have been very critical of the media coverage. So, what do they do? They have guests on the
