"Cynical" Attack on National Anthem Divides Nation

NAACP Chapter's Demand Contradicts Earlier Claims That Protests Are Not About Flag.

Washington, DC - As the NAACP's California chapter argues that the "Star-Spangled Banner" should be dropped as America's national song because it is "racist" and "anti-black," members of the Project 21 black leadership network condemn such claims as cynical and divisive.  Black conservatives with Project 21 also note that this lobbying by the NAACP conflicts wi

Project 21 Members Say Stunt "Only Serves to Racially Fracture Our National Psyche"

The NAACP recently issued a "travel advisory" for the state of Missouri that suggests a "looming danger" exists there.  Members of the Project 21 black leadership network who live in Missouri see this as an unproductive publicity stunt ignoring the real problems affecting black residents in the Show Me State – particularly in the city of St. Louis.

Originating with the Missouri NAACP State Conference and rec

These Uncertain Political Times Requires Direct and Immediate Action

The NAACP was founded more than a century ago in response to the rampant and violent lynching of black Americans. Over the past 100 years, the black community and communities of color as a whole have experienced tremendous advancements. Yet, as we continue to march towards the arc of justice, additional barriers have been placed in our way in the forms of voter

Al Sharpton, NAACP And Others Sued For $10 Billion For Taking Donations To Cover Up Discriminatory Practices

By Koba -February 1, 2016

After questioning Al Sharpton‘s legacy as a black leader along with his non-profit Civil Rights organization the “National Action Network,” (founded by Sharpton in 1991), Byron Allen included Sharpton’s name in a lawsuit as well as the NAACP and other “black” organizations for allegedly signing “sham” diversity agreements then taking donations from major corpor

Last week, the Delaware State legislature approved a constitutional amendment to all but remove the last Jim Crow-era voter suppression law from its books.

The amendment, passed at the urging of the Delaware NAACP, allows people with nonviolent felony convictions to vote after their release from prison. This is a major victory for voting rights and a strike against the practice of "felony disenfranchisement". But it is also a major step forward for a nation st

President Obama: Please Call Home

Raynard-Jackson17-873x1024

NNPA Columnist

Last week, I criticized President Obama for his anemic, voiceless, almost whispered response to the tragic death of Hadiya Pendleton.  She was a 15-year-old honor student who was shot and killed in Chicago two weeks ago after having performed at Obama’s inauguration.

To my total amazement, there was a torrent of criticism from within the Black community about Obama’s tepid public statement about Hadiya’s death.  I was proud that many in the Black community finally

September 15th marks the anniversary of a terrible tragedy in our history. On this day forty-nine years ago, during a service at the 16th Street Baptist Church titled, “The Love That Forgives,” members of the KKK set off explosives that killed four little girls: Addie Mae Collins, Cynthia Wesley, Carole Robertson and Denise McNair.

In honor of their memory, we ask that you pledge to register 16 new voters on Sunday, September 16.

NAACP Victorious in Overturning Voter ID in Texas

by Gloria Dulan-Wilson

Kudos to the NAACP for having won a major victory in Texas in the ongoing fight against the rep-ugh-blicans efforts to drag us backwards into the 19th century: the federal court struck down the Texas Voter ID law, stating it unfairly discriminated against “communities of color and was, therefore, in vioilation of Section 5 of the 1965 Voting Rights Act.”

Hopefully this will send a clear signal to other states that are trying t

Romney’s Lack of Blacks

By Raynard Jackson ~

Just over a month ago Mitt Romney addressed the NAACP during their national convention.  I thought Romney’s speech was horrible and quite a waste of time because he said nothing that would be of any interest to the Black community.  You can read that column at:  http://blackpressusa.com/romney-and-the-naacp-a-missed-opportunity/.

This column set off a firestorm of reactions from across the country.  Most people, of all political stripes, thought my analysis was right on the

Memo To Romney

June 29, 2012

Raynard Jackson

Now that Romney is the defacto nominee for the Republican Party, I have been reflecting on the state of the presidential race as it enters the final stretch.  As a political strategist, I understand the necessity to run to the right during the Republican primary and then migrate to the center during the general election.

It is common knowledge that Romney has no intention of focusing on the Black vote during the general election.  From a raw po

The NAACP and Gay Marriage

Those who have followed my writings over the years know that I am not very fond of the modern day NAACP. They have strayed very far from their original mission and have become a patsy for the Democratic Party. They are more concerned with having a photo taken at the White House than being the picture of equality and fairness for those with no voice.

The group was founded in 1909 as a civil rights organization. Its charter stated their mission as: “To promote equality of rights

Republicans Should Be Gay

May 11, 2012

Raynard Jackson

Now that I have your attention, let’s talk.  Say what you will about the gay community, but this one thing is clear, “they are masters at communications!”

I make my living doing Public Relations, Crises Management, and Strategic Planning, so I know good public manipulation when I see it and the gay community, in this regards, should be emulated by the Republican Party.

Growing up in St. Louis, there was no such thing or word as being gay (yes, I am sure the

Actually, that should really be pretty easy to do since there aren't that many of us who watch CNN on the reg anyway.  And I suppose that's what they're counting on.  The fact that we really don't subscribe to their brand of reporting.

But we need to send a message. Roland Martin was treated unfairly, stupidly and with prejudice by CNN. As an associate and friend of mine used to say that CNN stood for "the continuously negative news."   And I totally concur.  But they've go

How many of you fly on airplanes or frequent government buildings?  If you do, you know you must show some type of government I.D. to get on a plane or enter into a government building.

To my knowledge, I have never heard anyone claim they were discriminated against if they were not allowed to fly or enter a government building because they didn’t have an I.D.  To the contrary, people know the rules in advance, so therefore they comply.

I don’t know anyone (yo

What an empowering day.

Yesterday tens of thousands of people rallied at our Stand for Freedom mobilization in New York City to stand up against the forces trying block the right to vote for millions.

It was a powerful way to kick off our campaign to protect our right to vote.

At the rally, I spoke before a massive crowd of people ready to stand up and fight for their rights as American citizens. Take a minute now to watch this video of the event.

Confessions of an Marxist Ideologue

Rodney D. Coates ~

Well, my colleague (Sam Friedman) has challenged me to identify the Marxist ideologues that I refer to in my most recent blurb.  The problem with friends is that they hold us accountable.  And if confession, as my Baptist friends constantly remind me, is good for the soul, then let me here and now confess –that yes once I was a Marxist ideologue.  Where do I begin –at the beginning I suppose.

With All Thy Getting

February 10, 2011

King Solomon, of the Bible fame, states in Proverbs 4:7, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting, get understanding.”

I assume that it’s still legal in the U.S. to mention or quote from the Bible?  I am not too sure; this can cause me to be accused of being insensitive to other religions—but, I digress.

As I reflect upon the current state of affairs in the world, I am seeking to get some understanding of a few things.

What A Strange Webb, He Weaved

“Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive!” This famous quote is from the Scottish author and novelist, Walter Scott’s epic novel, Marmion (published in 1808). This is a very appropriate quote in response to the editorial Virginia senator, Jim Webb had published in last Friday’s Wall Street Journal (http://www.jameswebb.com/articles/wsj-diversity.html).

His editorial was titled, “Diversity and the Myth of White Privilege.” I am in total agreeme
