BACK IN THE DAY ECONOMICS WITH MIKE RAMEY

Let’s get to the lowdown on employment, or as it is better known as ‘getting a job’.

There are two things that job seekers need to keep in mind about the economy.  Either you have an ‘employer’s’ market (where employers can afford to be a lot more selective about whom they hire for a job), and an ‘employee’s’ market (where employees are in short supply and can not only pick and choose where they work, they can get top dollar for their services)

The 29th year of Black Love Day, Feb. 13, 2022, will encourage a global focus on The Creator as “the source” instead of government to get us through these trying times and reconnect the love as self-help within our Black community for Black joy. Black Love Day (BLD) is the 4th commemorated African American Holiday (wholyday) observance of atonement, reconciliation, celebration, and 24-hour demonstration of Black Love through 5 tenets (acts of love) – showing love for the Creator, for Self, for t

Proud of progressives

I am so proud of progressives. Progressives is the only group to put morality over all other considerations, like nationalism,  ethnicity, self-interest, political expediency, popularity and mammon.

As I mentioned before, if George Washington had opposed slavery while it was flourishing, he would have been thrown out of office  on his ear.  He was trapped in the evil slavery. In the past similarly progressives were alone in their opposition to atrocities like colonialism, imperialism, Jim Crow, t

In Support of Marilyn Mosby

440px-MYD_0025_Marilyn_Mosby_%2825057546410%29.jpg

Let us take a critical look at the charges against Baltimore City states attorney, Marilyn Mosby:

  • The indictment charges Mosby with four counts. One relates to a $40,000 withdrawal Mosby took from her city retirement account in May 2020, citing that she had experienced a financial setback due to the pandemic.
Bottom line- the $40,000 was all her money
  • She lied in order to lower the interest rate when she purchased a vacation home in Kissimmee, Florida, claiming it was a second home when she ha

Back In The Day Economics With Mike Ramey

I just received the latest copy of my favorite, local business publication in the mail.

On the front page—complete with great artwork—was a piece on how vinyl was making such a strong comeback in the record industry that existing processing plants were having a hard time keeping up with the demand of BOTH musical groups—and consumers.

Of course, I’m still holding out for a revival of eight-track tapes…but this is a dream deferred for another day.

Over the last ten or so yea

There is no question that when Baltimore city’s states attorney Marilyn Mosby sought justice for Freddie Gray by going after the police who murdered this innocent black man, a target was placed on her back.  However, she is not the prime target. These contrived charges are relatively minor but are blown way out of proportion deliberately. The timing of these charges raised my suspicion. They came days after  Maryland’s Republican governor, Larry Hogan, launched an unfair criticism about Mosby an

Trapped by Evil

George Washington was the father of our country. He confessed to chopping down the cherry tree because he could not tell a lie. But if he had opposed slavery while it was flourishing, he would have been thrown out of office  on his ear.  He was trapped in the evil slavery.

For over sixty two years, the mighty United States of America has imposed devastating embargo on the poor little island of Cuba. Year after year, the UN General assembly have voted overwhelmingly against this US embargo. The la

Poor Kids

Recently I watched Frontline production of “Poor Kids” on PBS TV. Actually, I did not watch the entire show. The plight of poor kids in America, the richest country in the world, was too depressing. It was a disgrace. I had to turn it off.

It made me think of how the Build Back Better bill would help poor kids. Conditions require that this bill deserves unanimous support. The time is overdue for the rich billionaires to step up and help the poor by visibly and vocally supporting this bill. These

Donald Trump captured the white vote primarily by embracing racism. However, this racism is nothing but a red herring to distract his followers from the fact that Republicans have nothing to offer the American people, with the exception of tax breaks for the billionaires. As I have asked before, “Will racism put food on the table?”  Will racism help to pay your outrageous hospital bill? The sad fact is that the Republicans reward their white support with exploitation.

When is the last time Republ

Don't blame it all on Trump

As a black person, I am shocked when white persons that I considered friends proclaim that they are proud followers of the blatant racist, Donald Trump. As a matter of fact, I am convinced that the overwhelming majority of Trump supporters do so precisely because he is racist.
As a black person, I am shocked when a white person that I respect for their integrity, proclaim that they are proud supporters of such a barefaced liar as Donald Trump.  According to the Washington Post, in his four years
