Juneteenth: What It Means

Diane Sears, Publisher of "In Search of Fatherhood" Magazine (which is available on line) sent this item along on Juneteenth.  It is short, quick, and to the point:

As we observe Juneteeth on 19 June 2024, we should contemplate what really occurred on  19 JUNE 1865.

     Here is what really happened:

Although the Civil War ended on 4 April 1865 and  the Emancipation Proclamation which became the law of the land in the United States on 1 January 1863 which m

Let me begin by thanking my Sister Vivian for telling me about this Bill that President Trump has already signed and the Commission for it that is already in play.

When I read the Commission Act, I could not believe what I was reading. Since being taken in yokes and chains to the Slave Castles, suffering the worst Slave Trade and enslavement known in the annals of history, and being plagued with this captivity, over 100 million Blacks have died at the hands of ENSLAVERS, government officials, im

The proposed Tax Reform Plan 2017-2018 is actually a re-fighting of the U.S. Civil War that was previously

Reclaiming Our African Mind

                                       Reclaiming Our African Mind

"When we talk about the so-called diagnosing of our people, it involves an analysis not only of the behavior of our people, but of the behavior of the society as a whole; and we must recognize this fact and face up to it as a people. Diagnosis then is not merely procedural or neutral.

The Scourge of Modern Slavery

Michael-Walsh_488391.jpgBy Michael Walsh  | It is said that people don't want to hear the truth because they don't want their illusions destroyed. This is understandable but it gives pause for thought as to how much our opinions are shaped by propaganda and self-deception. Human bondage conjures up images of enslavement of Africans by Europeans. However, since its 'abolition' in 1807 by Europeans the scourge of slavery has increased. Slavery is now widespread and by association we are all sweatshop slave owners.

John-Harvey-Murray_1268594.jpgBy John Harvey Murray  | During his visit to Jamaica, David Cameron was asked to give an apology on behalf of the British for their part in the slave trade. If you have a view on that naturally emotive subject, you might find some or all of these facts helpful in deepening your understanding. I found they made a difference to mine. None of these or any other facts in any way justify or mitigate the evil of slavery, past or present.

1. Slavery was not introduced to Africa by Europeans. It existed

Interestingly, after the Rothschild pronouncements on “Inclusive Capitalism,” a particular hero of mine, Robert Reich penned a piece entitled, “What Happened to the Moral Center of American Capitalism?”

I immediately began to wonder if this was the same Robert Reich who I came to admire during his tenure as secretary of labor, which coincided with my tenure in the US Congress.

I remember when Reich, as labor secretary, put forward the suggestion that it was high time

NOW, LET JUSTICE BE SERVED, AND LET ALL THE CULPRITS RESPONSIBLE BE NAMED IN THIS BARBARIC HOLOCAUST, ESPECIALLY “THE MOTHER OF ALL SLAVERS”!  FEW PEOPLE KNOW THAT THE BIBLICAL ISRAELITES WERE BLACK, AND THAT THIS IS THE REASON THE USURPERS OF GOD’S LAND AND IMPOSTERS OF OUR IDENTITY HATE BLACK PEOPLES SO MUCH!  MOREOVER, IT IS MAINLY THESE USURPERS WHO HAVE PREVENTED PAYMENT OF REPARATIONS TO DESCENDANTS OF SLAVES

US Prison Labor is Very profitable

“The racism that pervades every aspect of life in capitalist society — from jobs, income and housing to education and opportunity — is most brutally reflected by who is caught up in the U.S. prison system. More than 60 percent of U.S. prisoners are people of color. Seventy percent of those being sentenced under the three strikes law in California — which requires

Kwabena Akurang-Parry:

LET me state some caveats that my effort at interrogating the conclusions of Professor Henry Louis Gates does not mitigate the marginality and chattel nature that reconfigured the lived-experiences of enslaved Africans worldwide, nor does it exonerate slave-holding societies in Africa as well as some African states’ participation in the Atlantic slave trade. Second, I do understand Gates to mean that the blame for the Atlantic slave trade should be debited to both Africans

Lessons from Confederate History Month

By Ezrah Aharone:

Next year in April commemorates the 150th anniversary of America’s Civil War. So under the pretext to “encourage tourism” in Virginia, which has over 100 Confederate monuments, GOP Governor Bob McDonnell dusted-off an old proclamation that declares April as “Confederate History Month.” Not only did he revive it, he removed a clause stating “that slavery was one of the causes” of the war.

President Obama called this “an unacceptable omission,” while members of Virginia’s Legisla

Economics: The New Slavery in Black America

Brandon Brice: Last Sunday as I sat in the congregation of one of the most prestigious churches in Harlem, it mesmerized me to hear the praises, chats and applauses for President Barack H. Obama, as our nation’s 44th President of the United States. As a black man, it was an incredible moment in history to see someone who shared my same features, living on 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Interestingly, statistics show that a large majority of Americans feel that racism no longer exist, but fail to realiz
