Let me begin by thanking my Sister Vivian for telling me about this Bill that President Trump has already signed and the Commission for it that is already in play.

When I read the Commission Act, I could not believe what I was reading. Since being taken in yokes and chains to the Slave Castles, suffering the worst Slave Trade and enslavement known in the annals of history, and being plagued with this captivity, over 100 million Blacks have died at the hands of ENSLAVERS, government officials, imprisonment, police, KKK, and Whites who have lynched Blacks, etc. Is this Commission Act the best thing this United States government can design to appease the horrific Slave Trade of Blacks forced to Colonial America? The United States assisted White Jews in their efforts to obtain Reparations for what Hitler did to them. What about the Black Holocaust and captivity that the US government brought upon our forefathers and their descendants?

This H.R. 1242 - 400 Years of African-American History Commission Act document is poorly written, vague, and without substance. And worse, this Commission Act insults our intelligence. Are we so illiterate that we cannot recognize when Congress is trying to pull the wool over our eyes and make us look like fools? Is this Commission Act supposed to take the place of JUSTICE SERVED, REPARATIONS, and Our EXODUS out of this CAPTIVITY? What the Hell were they thinking?

White People do not usually take Black History in college, so why should just anyone sit on this Commission who has not taken classes in Black History and The Slave Trade. I guess since this Commission Act is not directed to serve justice for kidnapping Blacks out of Africa, for enslavement of Blacks, and for holding us in this CAPTIVITY, they ignorantly thought that people didn’t need to be so educated in this discipline. Clearly, President Trump’s Bill had no intention of addressing the REASONS BLACKS are in this Western Hemisphere, and wanted this Commission only to feign justice for the heinous Slave Trade and enslavement of Blacks forcibly taken from the shores of Africa. Hence, this Commission Act is as useless to descendants of Slaves as is this Christian religion that Enslavers used to deceive and brainwash their Slaves into worshipping their god, a mere man, rather than worshipping the CREATOR Our MAKER (Mal.2:10).

Herewith, I have only highlighted parts of this Commission Act in blue, and the link above can be used to read the entire Commission Act. My comments are in all caps. for Facebook readers and in caps. and in red for those who are not reading this Sabbath Message on Facebook. Descendants of Slaves should be aware of just what President Trump, the Congress, and the people on this Commission are thinking. These people are trying to make amends for the violent and vicious acts of the Slave Trade and enslavement of Blacks with the use of a Band-Aid. Our captivity in this country is what made this nation the wealthiest and the most powerful on Earth. President Trump and the US Congress should be ashamed at this Commission Act that they have made public thinking that it is supposed to serve justice and pacify Black Humanity that they have decimated for 400 years.

Read the H.R.1242 Commission Act for yourself and see that descendants of Slaves have no voice, and that it is to our detriment. What else might this government devise for us that will have nothing to do for our progress, development, and self-determination?

***

The purpose of H.R. 1242 is to establish the 400 Years of African-American History Commission. BACKGROUND AND NEED FOR LEGISLATION WHY DO DESCENDANTS OF SLAVES NEED THIS LEGISLATION? THIS COMMISSION APPEARS TO BE A MEANS TO REMOVE THE GUILT FOR THE CRUEL AND BARBARIC SLAVE TRADE THAT SHAMES THIS NATION THAT IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE “VALUES”. The first documented arrival of Africans to the English colonies occurred in August 1619, when a group of approximately 20 individuals disembarked from a ship at Point Comfort, Virginia. Since slavery was not institutionalized at that point, the individuals were sold as involuntary labor or indentured servants, and told they would work under contract for a certain period of time before being granted freedom and the rights of other settlers.\1\ This moment marked a painful, but significant, time in colonial America, when Africans were taken against their will, transplanted, and committed to lives of slavery. WHETHER SLAVERY HAD BEGAN OR NOT, BLACKS WERE “SOLD” AGAINST THEIR WILL MAKING THIS ACT OF FORCED LABOR A CRIME. BECAUSE THIS SLAVERY INSTITUTED BY COLONIAL AMERICA WAS A LONG AND PAINFULLY AGONIZING “MOMENT” IN THE LIVES OF BLACK SLAVES, THEN THIS COMMISSION ACT SHOULD REFLECT SAID AND SPEAK TO THE HARM DONE FROM THEN UNTO NOW. I had to pray to Our GOD of Israel to help me to feel better. I am so troubled at the happenings in this Hell on Earth during these “Latter Days” that I find myself praying that the GOD of Israel will not prolong the days to end the wickedness and abominations on HIS once Perfect Earth. I pray that HE will make haste to execute HIS JUDGMENTS and fulfill HIS WORD to GATHER the Children of Israel a “Second Time”.

Therefore, Israelites who follow the GOD of Israel with their whole hearts and want better lives than this captivity has to offer must gather together under the umbrella of GOD’s Book of the Law and work towards our EXODUS. We have our own Nationality, our own Land, and our own GOD that awaits us. Yes, HE was indeed angry with us for rejecting HIM, but nevertheless, HE has PROMISED to GATHER us. And all we have to do is RETURN back to HIM and to HIS LAW and live and do it, as it is written by HIS Prophet Moses. But how many of us have it in our hearts to return and serve Our GOD of Israel, as HE has required of us?

Because there will only be a Remnant SAVED, let’s pray that only those who will obey GOD’s LAW and HIS WORD to HIS Prophets will be among the Israelites so fortunate to be returned back to our heritage. We can’t afford to be joined with people who will jeopardize our chances to enjoy GOD’s Peace and HIS Happiness on HIS Earth. We need an Earth that is void of all evil and wickedness. More importantly, we need to be a Nation of Righteousness, so that we may GLORY and PRAISE the Most HIGH GOD of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and worship HIM in HIS Holy Temple.

O’ Israel, it is time for our DELIVERANCE, and we have troubled times and Deuteronomy to prove it.

“Therefore fear thou not, O my servant Jacob, saith the LORD; neither be dismayed, O Israel: for, lo, I WILL SAVE THEE FROM AFAR, AND THY SEED FROM THE LAND OF THEIR CAPTIVITY; and Jacob shall return, and shall be in rest, and be quiet, and none shall make him afraid.
[11] For I AM WITH THEE, SAITH THE LORD, TO SAVE THEE: though I make a full end of all nations whither I have scattered thee, yet will I not make a full end of thee: but I will correct thee in measure, and will not leave thee altogether unpunished.” Jeremiah 30:10,11

“THUS SAITH THE LORD; BEHOLD, I WILL BRING AGAIN THE CAPTIVITY OF JACOB'S TENTS, AND HAVE MERCY ON HIS DWELLING PLACES; and the city shall be builded upon her own heap, and the palace shall remain after the manner thereof. Chattel slavery. Jim Crow segregation. Apartheid. Share-cropping. Mass incarceration. Ethnic cleansing. Education, housing and economic discrimination. Wealth gaps and health gaps. Now think of a way to re-institute the best elements of all these putrid ideas and you have the 2017-2018 proposed Tax Reform Plan!

The proposed Tax Reform Plan 2017-2018 is actually a re-fighting of the U.S. Civil War that was previously fought between 1861 and 1865. The major issues of that war were the South continuing to hold Black people as slaves and whether slavery would be allowed to spread to new territories.

Today, we have the Civil War 2.0 with many of the same southern states that lost the first Civil War initiating a Tax Reform Plan that would effectively, long term, disenfranchise most Black people in America. This time, the South plans to win! The negative impact of this proposed Tax Reform Plan, as it is being proffered by the Republican-controlled House, Senate and White House, will be that of 100 Hurricane Katrina’s on Black communities across America.

This proposed tax plan for Black America is like the frog put in a pot of cold water under a low-burning flame so that it doesn’t jump out of the pot, but as the heat is turned up, the frog is slowly cooked. The early years of the proposed Tax Reform Plan would give most Blacks in America some tax relief. The later years of the proposed Tax plan would “cook” Black people in America!

Charles D. Ellison, a Washington correspondent for The Philadelphia Tribune, says, “Not only is Black America the least likely to see a tax cut, but it's the most likely to see future tax increases, shredded safety nets and a flurry of fines and fees to make up the difference.” He continues, “Right now, at this very moment, the single biggest threat to the group of people already in a compromised position because of their race is the Congressional Republicans' tax-reform plan. Not the sound of the police. Not lead in your water and not a jail cell.”

How will the proposed Tax Reform Plan impact Black America?

Greatly reduce Medicaid by $5.3 trillion over ten years

Trigger $400 billion in Medicare cuts over ten years, including $25 billion in the first year

Greatly reduce food stamps by 30 percent

Eliminate the ability to write off student loan interest

Dramatically reduce college Pell Grants

Significantly reduce the number of Head Start slots by 200,000

Cut K-12 Education funding by 30 percent

Eliminate rental assistance to nearly 1 million households

Cut job training by 40 percent

Exacerbate the wealth disparity between white and nonwhite Americans

Put median Black household wealth on a path to hit zero by 2053

Create an additional $1.5 trillion deficit that would force the gutting of social service programs for decades to come

This proposed tax plan is as close to the return of slavery that Black people have been faced with since the first Civil War. Most Black leadership and progressive leadership are asleep on this aspect of the proposed Tax Reform Plan. Many government operatives, foundations, universities and corporate-sector leaders have aligned and seemingly conspired to destroy the progress made by Black people over the past 152 years under the guise of Tax Reform.

The proposed Tax Reform Plan will destroy Black America. At best, this Plan is the reincarnation of trickle-down economics, which never worked. At worst, it is a kind of neo-slavery and works as an ethnic cleansing of Black people in America. Either way, it is something that Black people in America cannot afford.

What must you do?

Call and write your Congressional representatives and tell them that you are against the currently proposed Tax Reform Plan.

Call and write Congressional representatives from other states and districts, and tell them that you are against the currently proposed Tax Reform Plan.

Share this information with everyone you know, ask them to share this information, and ask them to call and write Congressional representatives.

Comment on blogs, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linked In and other digital media about this plan.

Send contributions/investments to organizations working to fight this proposed Tax Reform Plan.

Vote your interest in every election and encourage everyone you know to do the same.

Phillip Jackson

Founder and Chairman of the Board

The Black Star Project

3509 South King Drive

Chicago, Illinois 60653

773.285.9600

December 12, 2017

~

As posted at:

RE: [TheBlackList] New Orleans Reparations Gathering A Success - We Still Need Your Financial Support, The Black Star Project, USA, 12/13/2017

Markell signed House Joint Resolution 10, which was sponsored by Representative Stephanie T. Bolden (D-Wilmington East) and Senate Majority Whip Margaret Rose Henry (D-Wilmington East) and passed overwhelmingly in the General Assembly in January. Today’s action follows other efforts to address historic injustices, including the recent issuance of a pardon for Underground Railroad conductor Samuel Burris.

“Today we affirm that we refuse to forget our past,” Markell said. “We accept the responsibility of tearing down the barriers that face so many of our neighbors as a result of the abhorrent laws and practices carried out against African-Americans. But we also assume this responsibility with enthusiasm, because we know what’s possible when we give more of our people the chance to make the most of their talents. And we know that every step we take toward equality of opportunity brings us closer to the society we dream of for us and for our children.”

“Delaware was one of the last states to abolish slavery, which is not something to be proud of here in the First State,” Rep. Bolden said. “Most of the states that had slavery have apologized for their historical role in such an inhumane practice, and I’m proud that Delaware is taking that step today. My colleagues in the General Assembly understood that while none of us personally played a part in this chapter in our history, it is incumbent upon all of us today to correct the mistakes of the past and to help with the healing that this legislation brings. It is an important step forward for all of us as a society.”

“While the shackles of slavery are a distant memory, the struggle against racism and prejudice remains today,” said Senator Henry. “Individually, Delawareans do not bear responsibility for the horrors of slavery, but today we acknowledged collectively that our trajectory as a state and nation will be shaped by how we are able to reconcile and grow from our past.”

Today’s event was hosted by the Delaware Public Archives which, as part of its commemoration of Black History month, also unveiled a new exhibit celebrating the 125th Anniversary of Delaware State University.

Diagnosis then is not merely procedural or neutral. As we have said, it is political to the core. It is a political act. Through diagnosis, the ruling society applies its ideological measures to the recalcitrant members of that society. It maintains through diagnosis the status quo and most of all, through diagnosis, the society-where that society is unjust- justifies its repressions. Thus then when an individual is labeled in an unjust and unequal society, and is labeled by the very people who maintain its injustice and inequality, then the very diagnosis process itself, and the very labels attached to the victims of that society are the very means by which repression is carried out in that system. Consequently, those of us who are in the so called helping professions and in the business of diagnosing other people's behavior, must recognize the degree to which we are a part of the repressive mechanism of that system." Amos Wilson sThe Falsification of Afrikan Consciousness Eurocentric History, Psychiatry and the Politics of White Supremacy pages 87-88

When our immediate ancestors were kidnapped, captured, dragged by Arabs and Europeans to Arabia, Yemen, Asia, the Caribbean, North, Central and South America they depopulated Africa by at least fifty million. The Arab slave trade lasted over fourteen hundred years! The European Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade lasted over four centuries. During this time of deportation and depopulation, Africans were subjected to unfathomable atrocities, horrors and desecration (the process of teaching us to ignore and negate our divinity and sacredness). Beatings, rape, mutilation, castration, branding, starvation were just some of the physical atrocities our ancestors suffered at the hands of Arabs and Europeans. Many did not survive the ordeals of the kidnapping and transportation process. But just as debilitating and damaging were the psychological abuses we suffered and still suffer to this day perpetrated by our Arab and European enemies.

Our tormentors denigrated us and disparaged our beautiful dark skin while raping and brutalizing our women and children, they terrorized our people to instill fear in us to make us submit to their depravity and bestiality. Our people who survived lives' were ruined by the unceasing abuse, negative programming and endless trauma. In the minds of demented Europeans any African who resisted or tried to run away was considered "crazy", the whites said there was something wrong with us ofr wanting to be free!

During slavery in the US Samuel A Cartwright (1793- 1863) a physician wrote a book entitled Diseases and Peculiarities of the Negro Race. Cartwright actually invented a "disease" he called Drapetomania that he said applied to Blacks who ran away or resisted the whites' attempts to impose a sub-human status on us. While Cartwright found sympathy and support from Southern planters and the defenders of slavery he was derided by some for his quackery.

This type of pseudoscience still exits and is used to defame, denigrate and dehumanize African people every chance they get! Europeans and Arabs denigrated us to justify their lust, savagery and rapine. When we resisted and we always did, this made them angry and they had to create a reason to justify their xenophobia, to rationalize their depravity, violence, brutality and their inhumane treatment of "the other". So just as Samuel Cartwright invented Drapetomania to describe Africans who ran away from their white "owners", modern science and psychiatry come up with conditions and diseases to describe our maladaptive responses or outright resistance to European domination and hegemony.

In the Arab and European warped mind, African people are seen alternatively as beasts of burden, exotic, hip or crazy criminals. But they also use their pseudoscience to justify their eugenics, sterilization and genocidal programs. We must realize this is their perception, their bogus pseudoscience and it's their problem not ours!

One of the most damaging and traumatic experiences in our sojourn amongst these brutes is we never knew how they were going to act, what trifling incident would set them off so we were always leery, anxious and unsure around them, even to this day. White folks prefer us to be "non-threatening", meaning our presence around them doesn't conjure up their deep seated fears and anxiety because they think we will get back at them for all the evil they perpetuate on non-whites around the world. They are also afraid we will see through their compensatory facade of superiority and arrogance and discern they are really insecure and frightened of just about everything. (This is why it is so easy for the ruling elites to scare them about "terrorism" and crime etc.)

A few weeks ago I wrote about epigenetic inheritance. I mentioned the idea that experiences, emotions and vivid trauma can be passed down from generation to generation outside the DNA is not a new concept, that our African ancestors recognized this eons ago. I suggested you read Dr. Kimbwandende Kia Bunseki Fu-Kau's books on traditional African Cosmology and Self- Healing to get an glimpse of the deep insight Africans had into the life process, healing and wellbeing. Dr. Fu-Kiau called the process of transmitting energy, skills, talents and health from generation to generation the genetic rope.

Epigenetic inheritance or the genetic rope can bring discord, disease and ill health into subsequent generations. In his book Self-Healing Power and Therapy, Old Teachings from Africa Dr Fu-Kiau points out the importance of a community sanctioned marriage partnership, where every effort is made to ensure the couple comes from good parentage, one of high morals and ethics, good health and the whole community blesses the union. He also states the importance of a serene, calm and healthy environment during the prenatal period. "A well constituted seed from a strong healthy and beautiful tree will germinate with energy. It will grow strong, healthy and become productive. Human beings are seeds too. We are mu me'nga (biogenetically) the seeded fruits of our parents, and great-great-great grandparents. This is what the Kongo call N'singa dikanda, "the biogenetic rope of the community of the dead" with whom we are related by blood." Self-healing Power and Therapy Old Teachings From Africa page 27

Living in a Western socio-economic-political system while offering material creature comforts, at the same time is stultifying, it is discordant, it throws us off of our natural rhythms and like vampires drains us of our energy. The more we attempt to be like Europeans the farther we get from our African moorings, our natural selves and our indigenous cultural frequencies.

This process is literally making us ill and killing us. We are becoming more materialistic, more prone to disease, our social networks are becoming superficial, they do not provide the psychological and emotional support and nurturing we need to live full and healthy lives. As a consequence we are exhibiting and experiencing more maladaptive symptoms, more dis-ease, more illness, increasing social dysfunction and alienation.

The key to reversing the negative epigenetic inheritance is to do what our African ancestors called Sankofa, which literally means "go back and fetch it". Go back and learn from the past to build on the future. Going back to fetch, internalize and live African values is the key to our transformation and redemption. However, I must warn you it means rejecting much of what the West holds near and dear such as: selfishness, greed, individualism, materialism, the exploitative dog eat dog social relationships, everything we see on the so called "reality shows" and in their "entertainment industry".

Part of our transformation is regaining a respect and love for nature, a healthy awe of the natural space all around us. We have to begin to really appreciate true spirituality, the unseen energies, freqeuncies and forces around us and know that we are all linked to and created by ONE SOURCE. We have to relearn how to hear the song of the universe and resonate to the earth's natural rhythm, learn what it means to live in harmony with oneself, others and nature.

We have been trained and brainwashed to believe progress is the ideal goal that the natural order is antiquated and needs to be replaced. Wake up, the West's desire to usurp, pervert and supplant nature will be the death of us! Remember what happened to Frankenstein!

Our only salvation is to reclaim our African mind, to reconnect with nature and get in touch with the animating life force within each of us and all creation. Our adversaries may call us crazy or invent some new word to define our non-conformity and reawakening, so what? We will be doing what is best for us, we will be saving ourselves and the planet.

-30-

This is understandable but it gives pause for thought as to how much our opinions are shaped by propaganda and self-deception. Human bondage conjures up images of enslavement of Africans by Europeans. However, since its 'abolition' in 1807 by Europeans the scourge of slavery has increased. Slavery is now widespread and by association we are all sweatshop slave owners.

Of 53 movies, mostly Hollywood productions, no less than 45 are based on African slavery. Needless to say ethnic African involvement in the capture and trade of their own countrymen is brushed aside. Long after the supposed abolition of slavery Britain's empire became rich courtesy of indentured slavery, deportation, exploitation, transportation, enslavement of prisoners-of-war, and ethnic cleansing dressed up as emigration. Asians were victims of European indentured slavery in far greater numbers than were the Africans. You will search long and hard to find their suffering recorded.

The trans-Atlantic slave trade was relatively insignificant when set against slavery in the broader sense of its meaning both then and now.

Surprisingly, the ethnic group that suffered most in enslavement were White Europeans. Over time more Europeans were enslaved by Africans than the other way around. The forts and towers dotted along Mediterranean coasts were not put there to deter Martians. Then there were the numbers of Europeans enslaved by fellow Europeans. We are not talking Biblical nor of the Roman Empire period but within living memory of most of us.

The death toll and suffering endured by Europeans throughout the Soviet Gulag was chronicled by great writer and former slave Alexander Solzhenitsyn. He was described as 'The Conscience of the 20th Century'. The Gulag was the Soviet Union's forced labor camp system. It consisted of over 500 widely scattered labor colonies. A euphemism for frozen tundra plantations situated in the harshest of climates. The numbers of men, women and children who perished in these forced labor camps and colonies has been set as high as 10 times the number of those said to have been murdered by the German Reich. The West turned a blind eye and even assisted in it. This Soviet system, that existed from 1920 to the collapse of the USSR, accounted for more than the combined total of those enslaved throughout human history.

For over 70 years tens of millions of unfortunate Europeans were 'reaped and harvested' by Soviet cattle cars. The rail road convoys ran from all over Soviet Occupied Europe. Interesting, much of this ruling stock was manufactured in the United States and Britain. That this is all in the past is self-delusional. According to the International Labor Organisation (ILO), 20.9 million people around the world work in conditions defined as slavery. This figure does not take into account millions more who work as sweatshop cattle with little reward and without hope. Yes, better our illusions.

If you have a view on that naturally emotive subject, you might find some or all of these facts helpful in deepening your understanding. I found they made a difference to mine. None of these or any other facts in any way justify or mitigate the evil of slavery, past or present.

1. Slavery was not introduced to Africa by Europeans. It existed there before the first explorers and traders went there.

2. The first Europeans to participate in the slave trade were the Portuguese in the Fifteenth Century.

3. The British sent white British prisoners to work as slaves on the plantations in the Caribbean. They were the losers after the Battle of Worcester in the Civil War, The Batle of Sedgemoor in Monmouth's Rebellion against James II and Jacobites in the 1715 Rebellion.

4. Slavery was held to be illegal in Britain because it violated the principles of Magna Carta etc. but was somehow considered acceptable in British Overseas Possessions.

5. White British and other Europeans were taken as slaves by pirates from North Africa during the late Middle Ages until the Eighteenth Century.

6. The British abolished slavery in 1833. Other European nations did so at various dates during the Nineteenth Century. Many Asian and Middle Eastern countries postponed its abolition until the Twentieth Century. In Saudi Arabia's case it was 1974.

7. Compensation was paid to British slave owners as the Government, and most other people, felt it could not deprive people of their "property" without doing so.

8. In the British Empire the Government had to use force to suppress slavery, as the abolition was not popular with native slave-traders in many places.

9. In Jamaica there are some black and mixed-race people who are descended from free people. There was a brief period when the island had been abandoned by the Spanish before the British arrived. Many slaves went into hiding and de facto became free. Their children were therefore never slaves.

10. Slavery still exists in many places. In Britain it is the domain of people-traffickers. In the Middle East it is thought to go on illegally in many countries but is openly practiced in areas controlled by ISIS. The victims are usually members of minorities.

Personally, I wish the campaigners would concentrate on freeing current slaves rather than keeping old wounds alive, given the complexity of the story and the difficulty in apportioning blame or credit.

At any rate, that’s a lot of money! And interestingly, many of these subsidy recipients, don’t even pay taxes. Talk about “free-riding” and “gaming the system!” Lady Rothschild knew what she was talking about!

Yet, the Republican Party and its more conservative complement inside the Democratic Party painted a vastly different picture of the typical welfare cheat, “free-riding” on hard-working taxpayers: demonizing her as a black woman, descendant of the trafficked Africans brought to the United States to work or give birth until death with no compensation. That is the ad hominem diversion used to deflect attention from the real big corporate culprits that continue to turn a pretty penny for their CEOs at US taxpayer expense. So, with all of these fond memories of Robert Reich in mind, and an admiration for his courageous suggestion to end corporate welfare—a suggestion that, in my opinion, ended up getting him fired, I was taken aback to see the title of his recent op ed posted on his website.

When, pray tell, did American Capitalism have a “moral center?”

In his article, Reich points out that American capitalism has today lost its moral center. He laments that even the most minimum standards of “public morality” have been breached by the common business practices of today. Reich complains that the people with the leading Wall Street or corporate positions now can be counted on to enrich themselves with the most compensation “regardless of the social consequences.”

Economic advisor Robert Reich, former Labor Secretary © Carlos Barria / Reuters

Reich correctly points out that the wage gap between CEO and average workers can reach as much as 300 times. He notes that after World War II, when corporate CEOs felt more responsibility and “accountability to the nation,” their pay failed even to reach 40 times average worker earnings. And he notes that back then, the highest income earners also paid their fair share of taxes. But, by the 1980s Administration of President Ronald Reagan, deregulation became the word of the day and so regulations meant to protect the public from rapacious capitalism were repealed, straight up through and including the Clinton Administration in which he served.

Reich concludes by calling for re-enactment of regulations that will curb the excesses that the taxpayers of the US and the world have been subjected to by Wall Street. He calls for “limits on executive pay, a progressive income tax,” and changes in campaign finance laws to eliminate the undue influence of money on election outcomes. All of Reich’s prescriptions leave the bad guys and their progeny in place to haunt us again in multiple ways. Reich’s prescriptions seek to encourage a “moral center” that honestly, just doesn’t exist and that has never existed in the economic life of the United States.

For example, before the mortgage meltdown of 2008, to close the home ownership gap between blacks and whites in the United States, United for a Fair Economy found that it would take 1,664 years, provided business as usual by black voters and business as usual by Republican and Democratic elected officials. Now, for me, I don’t have one thousand years to wait for justice. Business as usual in the United States IS the perpetuation of injustice. Business-as-usual in the United States must undergo deep, transformational, humanistic change. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. stated that the United States needed a revolution in its values. It still needs such a revolution.

Unfortunately, Reich’s prescriptions merely take us back to business as usual in a US riddled with racism, discrimination, class division, and now saddled with a futile chauvinistic hubris that leads to all kinds of policy folly that is not only painful for its victims, but that also wreaks of a desperate arrogance on the part of its purveyors. I agree when Reich concludes that “massive inequality is incompatible with robust democracy.” And therein lies my point. By his own definition, the United States has never been a “robust” democracy. The democratic rights (political and economic) of Native Americans and trafficked Africans have never been included in the US equation of democracy. Women were excluded at the time of the founding of this exceptional “democracy.” Thus, I wonder, how with a straight face, Robert Reich can write of the “moral center” of American Capitalism—that same capitalism that produced genocide, the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade, Jim Crow, Convict Labor (Slavery By Another Name), gender discrimination before World War II and today’s racial and ethnic disparities that exist on every index of social well-being that remain unaddressed by policymakers until this very minute of this very day in the post-World War II period.

And let me not even begin to discuss colonialism, neocolonialism, neoliberalism, all imposed on other parts of the world with record violence. To what extent is the refugee/immigration crisis of today caused by neoliberal policies that have been ruthlessly inflicted on others around the world by “American Capital?”

Some might be tempted to say, after careful scrutiny of the historical evidence, that there is no such thing as a moral center in “American” capitalism and that it is high time to reject the usual policy prescriptions that keep capitalism in place (Remember President George Herbert Walker Bush’s “Kinder, Gentler America?”); and search for other less Eurocentric and more egalitarian forms of political and economic social organization. Some countries, like the members of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America, ALBA, have already embarked upon this journey. They are to be commended and supported while we all must beware the shibboleths advanced as our common salvation by the very creators of so much global human misery.

The “moral center” of “American Capitalism” is still a disaster!

By Cynthia McKinney, for RT

The statements, views and opinions expressed in this column are solely those of the author and do not necessarily represent those of RT.

--

----------------------------------------------------------+
| __o CONTINENTAL CRITICAL MASS
| _`\;,_ come ride with me
| (*)/ (*)
| Bike4Peace Across the USA
-----------------------------------------------------------+

http://claritypress.com/McKinneyII.html
http://www.claritypress.com/McKinney.html
https://www.facebook.com/CynthiaMcKinneyOfficial
http://www.allthingscynthiamckinney.com/CynthiaSpeaks

Silence is the deadliest weapon of mass destruction.

"My weapon is media, lectures, protest, organization." Most Americans are completely unaware of the general contempt that many Jewish people have towards blacks, as Max Blumenthal found out when he interviewed dozens of young people in Israel who reiterated the Rabbi’s sentiments about Obama. Blumenthal’s video titled Feeling the Hate in Israel was removed from YouTube, Vimeo, and the Huffington Post shortly after going viral.

In order to understand the nature of this hatred we need to understand the historical context, which dates back hundreds of years. Although Jews were just a tiny percentage of the European population, they dominated the African slave trade. Jewish historians were so proud of this accomplishment that they bragged endlessly about their involvement and dominance of the industry in their historical texts. In Jews and Judaism in the United States: A Documentary History, prominent Jewish Historian Marc Raphael wrote “Jewish merchants played a major role in the slave trade. In fact, in all the American colonies, whether French, British, or Dutch, Jewish merchants frequently dominated. This was no less true on the North American mainland, where during the eighteenth century Jews participated in the triangular slave trade that brought slaves from Africa to the West Indies and there exchanged them for molasses….”

Jewish historical records show that Jewish involvement in the North American slave trade was so dominant that slave posts were frequently closed on Jewish holidays. Arnold Wiznitzer, a Jewish historian, wrote, “the buyers who appeared at the auctions were almost always Jews, and because of their lack of competitors they could buy slaves at low prices. If it happened that the date of such an auction fell on a Jewish holiday the auction had to be postponed”. In The United States Jewry 1776-1985 Jacob Marcus wrote, “all through the eighteenth century, into the early nineteenth century, Jews in the North were to own black servants. In 1820 over 75% of all Jewish families in Charleston, Richmond, and Savannah owned slaves. Almost 40% of all Jewish householders in the United States owned one slave or more.” In the South, which had a much higher ratio of slave ownership than the North, only 5% of white people owned slaves.

White Europeans would have ended the morally corrupt practice of slavery in North America much sooner if it weren’t for powerful Jewish businessmen lobbying to keep their profitable industry alive. As Rabbi and historian, Bertram Korn said, “many Southern Jews believed slavery to be indispensable to their happiness and security. “The road to social and economic advancement and acceptance [for the Jews] was made easier by the institution of slavery.”

The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan discovered these facts and published the book: The Secret Relationship Between Blacks and Jews, which quotes Jewish historical records such as the aforementioned to prove the case. The Anti-Defamation League, mainstream media, and many other Jewish American organizations slandered Farrakhan for publishing the book, even calling him anti-Semitic for merely assembling a collection of Jewish historical records.

This racism has not abated in recent times unfortunately. For example, when black African Jews returned to Israel in 1969 under the Right of Return Act, the government ruled that they were not real Jews and therefore did not qualify for citizenship or any legal status. The black Hebrews were also denied state benefits and work permits. It wasn’t until 2003 that black Hebrews were granted permanent residency, but not the automatic citizenship granted to all other races returning on the exact same provision. If it wasn’t for a group of Americans who shamed the Israeli government into granting black African Jews some legal status, they would probably never have received it. To this day black Jews are still not accepted by the Jewish community in Israel. Racial slurs, insults, and discrimination in housing rentals are commonplace. This treatment has reached such an unbearable level that Ethiopan Jews have taken to the streets to protest. In response, Sofa Landver, the Israeli Immigrant Absorption Minister, smugly replied that they should be grateful for all that Israel has done for them. This is reminiscent of white supremacist rhetoric in the America, which claims that Africans should be grateful their ancestors were brought to America. Israel was clearly created under the premise of future safety for all Jews, not just white European Jews. Therefore, black African Jews should have the same rights and entitlements to Israel as any other Jews.

The Israeli government has even been caught attempting to sterilize Ehtiopan Jews by giving them the controversial birth control, Depo-Provera, without warning them of the potential side effects. Ethiopian Jews are less than 1% of Israel’s population, but yet account for 60% of the women on Depo-Provera. The side effects are quite severe, including pain in the hands and back, heavy bleeding, and in some cases permanent sterilization. Around 10% of the women taking this drug develop substantial side effects. In 2004, the FDA warned against the dangers of the drugs. Unfortunately, many Ethiopan Jews fear being deported if they speak up about these types of human rights abuses.

In an effort to “preserve the Jewish character of the country,” Israel now plans on deporting immigrant workers and their children; even in cases where the children were born in Israel, speak Hebrew, and have spent their entire lives as Israeli residents. In 2012, massive riots broke out in Israel protesting the presence of African refugees. The crime rates of African refugees were half the rate of the Jewish population in Israel, yet the local population claimed to live in fear of the black immigrants. A member of the Jewish Knesset (Parliament) name Miri Regev said that the Africans are “a cancer in the body.” The Jewish Interior Minister said Israel, “belongs to the white man.” A survey of Jewish Israelis by the Israeli Democracy Institute found that a majority of Israelis agreed with Mr. Regev, and 33% supported anti-African violence against the refugees.

Israeli racism is so great that when the Association for Civil Rights in Israel (ACRI) took a poll in 2007 they found that 66% of Israeli teens believe Arabs are less intelligent, uncultured, and violent. Fifty percent of the Israelis taking the poll said they would not share an apartment with an Arab, befriend an Arab or let their kids befriend Arabs, or even let Arabs into their homes. A poll taken by the ACRI in 2008 found that these trends were increasing. Another poll taken in 2007 by the Center Against Racism found that 75% of Israeli Jews did not approve of Jews living in the same apartment buildings as Arabs, and that more than 50% of Jews would not have an Arab boss and thought that marrying an Arab was tantamount to national treason. Fifty percent of Israelis also thought Arabs should not be allowed in the same entertainment sites and 40% wanted Arab’s voting rights rescinded. Yuval Diskin, the former head of the Israeli Security Agency (Shin Bet), recently admitted that Israel has become “more and more racist.”

Now imagine how much higher those percentages would have been if they were asked about black people. In Israel, it is against the law for a gentile to marry a Jew, which is presumably directed at preventing black immigrants and Arabs from marrying white Jews. Amnesty International has condemned their marriage policy as discriminatory.

Sheldon Adelson’s newspaper, Israel Hayom, recently published a column which stated, “It is not uncommon to see 13 or 14-year-old girls dating members of ethnic minorities…. You see them sitting together on street benches and out on the town. Dating a member of an ethnic minority no longer carries a stigma. They come along with money, a car, buying her things that her parents can’t give her, spoiling her. There are a million stories like this around here. ”There are enough statistics on exploitation, seduction and coercion of young girls, but when it comes to ‘members of ethnic minorities’ – shhh! Don’t awaken the beast, or you might be considered a racist. The words ‘danger of assimilation’ are also kept out of our clean and enlightened lexicon.”

In a 2012 ynet article, a Jewish journalist claimed that she spent 15 of the most terrifying minutes of her life because lots of African refugees were around. She said that Tel Aviv was turning into the Harlem of the 80′s, and therefore black people should be deported from Israel.

In 2010, the leader of the Sephardic community and founder of the Shas party, Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, stated that the sole purpose of non-Jews was to serve Jews. He also said in a television interview that “gentiles need to die…goyim have no place in this world.” Many of the top Israeli Rabbis issued a religious edict saying, “a thousand non-Jewish lives are not worth a Jew’s fingernail.”

Even though Israel takes a great deal of money from US in terms of direct foreign aid, “scrapped” military equipment that is really worth billions, one-sided contracts, and even charitable donations from Jews and Christians, according to Official Direct Assistance (ODA) Israel is one of the stingiest developed countries in the world. Israel is one of the richest countries on the planet with more than 10,000 millionaires, but gives nearly 10 times less than the world average and gives the 4th least of any developed nation per capita, only barely beating out much poorer countries like Poland, Hungary, and Turkey. So while Israel took in $3 billion from America in direct aid and tens of billions in the other aid measures mentioned above, they only gave $141 million in foreign aid to nations in need of assistance in 2010. While Bill Gates and Warren Buffet were pledging billions to Africa, the 40% of American billionaires who are Jewish, focused their charitable contributions on Jewish causes, which arguably need the money the least.

Unfortunately, Jewish Americans seem to have mimicked their Israeli counterparts’ prejudice. In 1993, San Francisco newspapers broke a story that the Jewish Anti-Defamation League, which has close ties to Israel, was supporting the South African apartheid by paying police officers for confidential information, illegally wire-tapping phones, and even dumpster diving to acquire private information on anti-apartheid activists. The Anti-Defamation League later sold the information to the South African government.

The American media, which is predominately controlled by Jewish Americans (see this article for the names, pictures and titles, to prove this fact), spends a ridiculous amount of airtime focusing on racial strife in America in order to cause a divide between blacks and whites. The truth of the matter is that there is very little inequality between whites and blacks when Jewish people are subtracted from the white column. Although Jewish people represent only 2% of the American population, they comprise 33% of the Supreme Court, 12-35% of the Ivy League student population and nearly 80% of the top administrative positions, 64% of the Federal Reserve including the top two spots, 13% of the Senate, 6.5% of the House of Representatives, and the top positions of the IRS and SEC. The US also imprisons more people of color percentage wise than whites. In her book The New Jim Crow Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness attorney and author Michelle Alexander examines how the “justice system” using the bogus war on drugs as a pretext, works hand in hand with the prison industrial complex and the politicians to relegate and consign people of color in general and African-Americans in particular to a nether world of second class citizenry and caste where they lose their right to vote, where getting a job becomes problematic and existing as self-actualizing productive men and women with dignity and a sense of worth becomes extremely difficult. Reading her book I was struck with the similarities between what she was documenting and another book by Charshee C.L. McIntyre entitled Criminalizing A Race Free Blacks During Slavery which detailed how the system criminalized free blacks prior to the US Civil War. These books along with the books by A. Leon Higginbothom: In The Matter Of Color Race and The American Legal Process The Colonial Period and Shades of Freedom Racial Politics and Presumptions of the American Legal Process reveal how the judicial system is undeniably racist and so egregiously stacked against people of color that justice for the most part is merely a word.

In this country from colonial times until the present the courts existed to arbitrate questions and issues of economics, labor and wealth. Yes the courts did rule on social issues and legislation but for the most part the courts like everything else in this country were established to ensure the ruling elites, the oligarchs and their interests were protected over and above those of the masses. Time after time the lower, appellate and supreme courts both state and federal tended to rule in favor of the rich and powerful. From colonial times to the present the courts both British and American protected the institution of indentured servitude and later the convict labor arrangements between colonies, local and state governments, the trading companies and other corporations.

“In1718 the British government decided that ‘transportation’ the banishing of convicts to work in the colonies, created a more effective deterrent to recidivism than the standard punishments of whipping and branding. This change in policy was favored because of high demand for labor in the colonies, and because facilities for long-term imprisonment were lacking. Between 1718 and 1775, approximately 50,000 British convicts were sentenced to long-term labor contracts, transported to America, and sold to private employers. They represented a quarter of all British and half of all English arrivals to British North America in this period. Most were convicted of some form of property crime, including horse and sheep stealing. While transported convicts were predominantly English and male, approximately 13 to 23 percent were Irish and 10 to 15 percent were female. Convict transportees were given one of three possible sentences—namely seven years, fourteen years, or a lifetime of banishment—that became the length of their labor contracts. Among those transported, 74 percent had seven-year sentences, 24 percent had fourteen-year sentences, and 2 percent had life sentences. Once convicts had served their sentences (contracts), they were free to return to Britain or to stay in America. The number who eventually returned to Britain is unknown. Convicts caught returning to Britain before completing their sentences were hanged. To minimize the cost of transportation, the British government channeled convicts through the existing transatlantic market for voluntary servant labor, which served those who wanted to emigrate but lacked sufficient cash to pay the cost of passage. Emigrants could secure passage to the colonies of their choice by negotiating long-term labor (servant) contracts that they would fulfill in America as payment for their passage. The typical voluntary servant negotiated a four-year contract. By contrast, British courts fixed the length of convict labor contracts and turned the convicts over to private shippers who would transport and dispose of the convicts for profit in the colonies chosen by the shippers. The typical convict was sentenced to a seven-year contract. Colonists mockingly referred to arriving convicts as ‘His Majesty's seven-year passengers.’” - Convict labor system http://www.answers.com/topic/convict-labor-systems

Keep in mind that as business enterprises, the colonies were obligated to ensure a profit to the Pope, the trading company and the monarchy that granted their charter. They structured their courts after those in their home country and they shared the same values as the European elites. So it is no surprise that for hundreds of years the courts have used prisoners as a way to make money through quasi slavery (indentured servitude), convict leasing and now the prison industrial complex. When they decided to use kidnapped Africans as free labor, the Europeans felt no compunction whatsoever to treat them fairly or justly, they still don’t.

“Prison labor offers no union protection, overtime pay, vacation days, pensions, benefits, health and safety protection, or Social Security withholding. Prisoners even recycle toxic electronic equipment and overhaul military vehicles. The prison system has quickly become and outsourcing corporation similar to cheaper labor markets overseas. This has created cheaper labor and also some very unsafe conditions for inmates. Prisoners worked covered in dust, with out safety equipment, protective gear, air filtration or masks. The toxic dust that they where around caused serious injury like blood clots and cancer.”Prison Slavery in Today’s U.S.A www.mediafreedominternational.org/2011/11/07/prison-slavery-in-today’s-u-s-a/

Prison labor today in the US is a huge business. “At least 37 states have legalized the contracting of prison labor by private corporations that mount their operations inside state prisons. The list of such companies contains the cream of U.S. corporate society: IBM, Boeing, Motorola, Microsoft, AT&T, Wireless, Texas Instrument, Dell, Compaq, Honeywell, Hewlett-Packard, Nortel, Lucent Technologies, 3Com, Intel, Northern Telecom, TWA, Nordstrom's, Revlon, Macy's, Pierre Cardin, Target Stores, and many more. All of these businesses are excited about the economic boom generation by prison labor. Just between 1980 and 1994, profits went up from $392 million to $1.31 billion. Inmates in state penitentiaries generally receive the minimum wage for their work, but not all; in Colorado, they get about $2 per hour, well under the minimum. And in privately-run prisons, they receive as little as 17 cents per hour for a maximum of six hours a day, the equivalent of $20 per month. The highest-paying private prison is CCA in Tennessee, where prisoners receive 50 cents per hour for what they call ‘highly skilled positions.’ At those rates, it is no surprise that inmates find the pay in federal prisons to be very generous. There, they can earn $1.25 an hour and work eight hours a day, and sometimes overtime. They can send home $200-$300 per month. Thanks to prison labor, the United States is once again an attractive location for investment in work that was designed for Third World labor markets. A company that operated a maquiladora (assembly plant in Mexico near the border) closed down its operations there and relocated to San Quentin State Prison in California. In Texas, a factory fired its 150 workers and contracted the services of prisoner-workers from the private Lockhart Texas prison, where circuit boards are assembled for companies like IBM and Compaq.

¡NO CARAJO!

Kwabena Akurang-Parry:

LET me state some caveats that my effort at interrogating the conclusions of Professor Henry Louis Gates does not mitigate the marginality and chattel nature that reconfigured the lived-experiences of enslaved Africans worldwide, nor does it exonerate slave-holding societies in Africa as well as some African states’ participation in the Atlantic slave trade. Second, I do understand Gates to mean that the blame for the Atlantic slave trade should be debited to both Africans and Europeans/Americans, consequently, reparations should also be the responsibility of Africans. Third, this is not about reparations, but more so about querying and rethinking some of Gates’ historical arguments and conclusions from the standpoints of “Akan” oral history wedded to “Western” sources, indeed, a bold departure from most of the commentaries framed around “Western” sources.

CAREFUL readings of Gates’ efforts at illuminating the Atlantic slave trade and the quest for reparations, pivoted on Obama’s presidency, illustrate Gates’ subtle preoccupation with blaming Africans for the slave trade. Gates’ present essay, full of inaccuracies and spiced with dizzying barber-shop narratives, revisits his perspectives on Africa and the Atlantic slave trade couched during his Conradian scholarly-tour of Africa, packaged as and standardized as homegrown African history for his conservative audience and sponsors.

THE viewpoint that “Africans” enslaved “Africans” is obfuscating if not troubling. The deployment of “African” in African history tends to coalesce into obscurantist constructions of identities that allow scholars, for instance, to subtly call into question the humanity of “all” Africans. Whenever Asante rulers sold non-Asantes into slavery, they did not construct it in terms of Africans selling fellow Africans. They saw the victims for what they were, for instance, as Akuapems, without categorizing them as fellow Africans. Equally, when Christian Scandinavians and Russians sold war captives to the Islamic people of the Abbasid Empire, they didn’t think that they were placing fellow Europeans into slavery. This lazy categorizing homogenizes Africans and has become a part of the methodology of African history; not surprisingly, the Western media’s cottage industry on Africa has tapped into it to frame Africans in inchoate generalities allowing the media to describe local crisis in one African state as “African” problem.

GATES writes that “Slaves were the main export of the kingdom of Kongo; the Asante Empire in Ghana exported slaves and used the profits to import gold.” Asante dominated the Akan gold trade and exported gold overseas; thus, they didn’t have to sell slaves to import gold. In sum, Asante had access to gold in the area described by Kwame Arhin as Greater Asante. Absolutely, the slave trade contributed to the expansion of Asante, but Asante’s political economy was not wholly dependent on the export of slaves. What is also clear is that the profit from the sale of slaves was used in purchasing guns, the most important commodity that facilitated both the military defense of individual African states as well as the supply of slaves to the Europeans. For its part, the Kongo state was already prosperous before the advent of the Portuguese in 1483. Although, slavery and slave trade were a part of the political economy of the Kongo, it was by no means the dominant one. The people of the Kongo dealt in iron, copperware, pottery, and textile goods, and had extensive markets as well. It was the Portuguese presence that intensified the incidence of slavery and eclipsed other forms of economic ventures just as much as the Portuguese, British, Dutch, etc. presence increased and reconfigured the institutional mechanisms of enslavement in West Africa.

ADDITIONALLY, Gates notes that:
“some African monarchs also sent their children along these same slave routes to be educated in Europe. And there were thousands of former slaves who returned to settle Liberia and Sierra Leone. The Middle Passage, in other words, was sometimes a two-way street. Under these circumstances, it is difficult to claim that Africans were ignorant or innocent.”
Even if Africans knew about the conditions of slaves in the Americas, there was very little that the so-called 90 percent of “Africans” enslaved by fellow “Africans” could do to thwart their enslavement. In other words, they did not choose enslavement over freedom. Besides, Africans educated in Europe were pedagogically conditioned to accept the demonization of people of African descent in currency, and when they returned home imputed similar inferiorization to other Africans. For example, Gates should know that Jacobus Eliza Johannes Capitein, an African intellectual giant educated overseas had even defended the slave trade. Capitein was born in 1717 in the Gold Coast and sold into slavery to Jacob van Goch, an official of the Dutch West Indian Company then operating in the Gold Coast. Capitein accompanied his master to the Netherlands, studied and attained advanced degrees, and in 1742 chronicled One of the most covered themes in the book is Capitein’s sustained perspectives on compatibility of slavery and Christianity. Thus, it is fair to conclude that some of those who had acquired European higher education like Capitein had assimilated dosages of Eurocentric pedagogies and epistemologies then in currency and which had informed their education. This should not be difficult to understand: throughout the early colonial period some Africans who hailed colonialism belonged to the educated elite. In contemporary Africa, it is the educated elites that have increasingly championed the movement away from composite African values by happily latching onto neocolonial tastes and values, in fact, seismic cultural shifts called Globalization in some quarters.

THERE are a number of subtle suggestions which undergird Gates’ essay of blame-game that are plucked from the works of Linda Heywood and John Thornton whose conclusions are shaped by the extant Eurocentric records. One is the notion that wars in precolonial Africa were mostly geared toward the acquisition of slaves for the Atlantic market. Oral history/traditions amply illustrate that some wars in precolonial Africa, even during the period of the Atlantic slave trade, also served as conduits of freeing slaves. Historians of slavery in Africa, mostly non-Africans, have overemphasized the colonial conquest and its consequent wars as auspicious moments that enabled slaves in Africa to take to the pathways of freedom. Conversely, warfare among precolonial African states and African wars of resistance to incipient European domination in the precolonial 19th-century, both of which contributed to slave flights and reunited deserting slaves with their families, have not garnered the attention they deserve. For example, in 1730-31, when Akyem Abuakwa assisted the region of Akuapem to wean the inhabitants off Akwamu domination, a large number of Akuapems, who had been enslaved by the Akwamus, returned to their families in Akuapem and public celebrations were used to welcome them home. Also in the aftermath of the Asante resistance to the budding British imperialism in 1873-74, “slaves,” according to colonial and Christian missionary reports as well as newspaper accounts, left their slave-holders in Greater Asante and its coterminous regions, including Bono, Adansi, Asante-Akyem, Denkyira, etc. and returned to their families and communities. Of course, not all fleeing slaves were able to return to their respective homes in a timely fashion, and about this, the reports describe massive “refugee” movements in the area between the Pra, Ofin, Birim, and Densu Rivers, notably encompassing parts of Akyem Abuakwa, Denkyira, Gomoa, Agona and Fante territories. Even war-scares, such as the ones which occurred between the Akuapems and Krobos in the l8th and 19th centuries, also triggered slave flights and some of the fleeing slaves found their way home, or built slave villages that would form the nucleus of some Krobo and Akuapem satellite communities.

ECONOMIC motives, according to Gates, are what compositely explain the “role Africans themselves played” in the Atlantic slave trade as suppliers of the European slave traders’ appetite for slaves. Although, direct economic reasons may be used to explain the European involvement in the age of capitalism and slavery, it does not fully explain African states’ participation in the Atlantic slave trade. More than economic gain was the pernicious gun-slave-cycle that compelled African states to arm themselves with European-made guns, the most important commodity of the Triangular Trade to West and West-Central Africa, both for protection and as a means of acquiring war captives to sell to European slave traders in order to paradoxically procure more guns for protection. In my view the participation of African states was conditioned more by political motives for protection than short-term economic gains.

GATES argues that since European slave traders lived in the coastal trading posts, the blame for the Atlantic slave trade wholly lies with Africans who captured fellow “Africans” in the interior and sold them to Europeans. His argument is an attractive proposition obviously quarried from the historiography. Unlike “Western” sources that inform much of the historiography, the use of oral history allows us to interrogate Gates’ conclusions at several levels. First, 1871, Gates’ date for the so-called European exploration of the interior of Africa, is wrong: long before 1871, Europeans had visited the interior parts of the continent. Oral history collected by scholars at the Institute of African Studies, University of Ghana, Legon, shows that during the era of the Atlantic slave trade, “aborofo/oburoni”[whites] visited the interior of what is today Ghana, broadly defined as the region between Greater Asante and the littoral stretching from Edina [Elmina] in the west to Keta in the east. Even granted that Europeans never set foot in the interior of West Africa and West-Central Africa, there is no doubt that their presence in the trading posts along the coast enabled them to influence politics that led to wars of enslavement, and the example of Portuguese predatory activities in the Kongo may be summoned to elucidate this conclusion. Second, oral history shows that some indigenous rulers in the Gold Coast and European agents held regular meetings regarding the on-going slave trade in the precincts of the castles and forts. During such durbars or “palavers” Asafo Mma [so-called Companies] or lineage-based warrior groups exhibited their weaponry and demonstrated their military skills defined by warrior “traditions” to the delight of all. Third, the extant literature illustrates that the forts and castles served as permanent hegemonic sites that enabled some European states to influence economic, social, and political developments in both the coastal and immediate interior regions. Finally, the bolts of supply and demand were not tied to space and physical presence: some European/American states’ demand for slaves existed and African states like Asante and Dahomey supplied it; more importantly, the Asante and Dahomian supply curves met the European/American slave traders’ demand along the lines of proliferation of European-made guns which fueled the political economy of destructive gun-slave-cycles in much of West and West-Central Africa.

FURTHERMORE, Gates, like most Western interpreters of slavery, slave trade, and abolition, attributes abolition solely to non-African agency. The Atlantic slave trade was as much a trade in “commodities” as it was in diffusing prevailing osmotic abolition ideologies in the Atlantic world. Even if we assumed that abolition began in the West as a staple pearl of the historiography would have us believe, the movement of osmotic ideas was also assimilated by Africans, unless Gates and others want to argue that Africans did not know the meaning of freedom, or were incapable of constructing and applying freedoms during the global abolition epoch. In fact, recent research amply suggests that the seeds of abolition in the Gold Coast had been nursed by the Gold Coast educated elite long before the British colonial agents implemented abolition in 1874-75, and the Gold Coast educated elite led by Timothy Hutton Brew, for example, argued that the British colonial government’s abolition policy was woefully inadequate.

Like most of Gates’ applications of episodic and evanescent evidence, he cites the example of a few African leaders’ acknowledgements of African participation in the Atlantic slave trade as evidence that Africans have accepted blame for the trade. Indeed, he stretches the facts to suit his conclusions. African leaders have not accepted wholesale blame for the Atlantic slave trade. Rather, Jerry Rawlings of Ghana and others commented on the role of Africans in the Atlantic slave trade, but did not impute blame to Africans. Additionally, Gates does not explain the diplomatic contexts in which such apologies were demanded and rendered. The more important question that Gates should examine in juxtaposition with the African leaders’ acknowledgement of the role of Africans in the Atlantic slave trade is this: has any European/American leader,
to borrow his words, “fall[en] to his/her knees and beg[ged] African-Americans' forgiveness for the ‘shameful’ and ‘abominable’ role [Europeans/Americans] played in the trade”? The answer is a resounding no!

I SUPPORT reparations in the sense of creating equal opportunities for all, for instance, access to social mobility in the form of better educational facilities for the descendants of enslaved Africans worldwide. In my view, instead of UNESCO and Western governments and their capitalist institutional agents, the beneficiaries of the Atlantic slave trade, using millions of dollars to fund numerous, albeit recycled, conferences on slavery in Africa, Atlantic slave trade, abolition, slave routes, etc. that use mostly European/American sources to marginalize African voices, such “global-family” funds should rather be used to improve educational facilities, etc. for the victims of the Atlantic slave trade in Africa, the Americas, Europe, Middle East, etc. This approach would help restore the voices of the descendants of the victims of the Atlantic slave trade to history.

FINALLY, let me reminisce over what my late father, who was a repository of oral history, told me when I returned to my beloved Ghana to gather oral history for my Ph. D. dissertation. We were discussing the relevance of my topic, which was abolition of domestic slavery in the Gold Coast, when the question of reparations came up. The Old Man ran his fingers through his lush, but savannah-like beard, and said that “Present-day Africans and African Americans descended from both the African slave-traders and the enslaved Africans so why should one group apologize to the other for the sins of their “fathers” [Nananom a won ako won akyi]? To this day, I have not found answers to that question, but what I can infer from it is that Africans and African Americans, in fact, people of African descent worldwide, should build bridges of “racial” harmony that speak truth to hegemonic powers and their institutional enclaves instead of stoking fires that have the potential to burn such needed bridges! May be Professor Henry Louis Gates has all the answers.

By Ezrah Aharone:

Next year in April commemorates the 150th anniversary of America’s Civil War. So under the pretext to “encourage tourism” in Virginia, which has over 100 Confederate monuments, GOP Governor Bob McDonnell dusted-off an old proclamation that declares April as “Confederate History Month.” Not only did he revive it, he removed a clause stating “that slavery was one of the causes” of the war.

President Obama called this “an unacceptable omission,” while members of Virginia’s Legislative Black Caucus said the document was “offensive, one-sided, and a revision of history.” GOP Governor Haley Barbour of Mississippi, who declared April as “Confederate Heritage Month” in a similar proclamation which also excluded slavery, said all the fuss “doesn’t amount to diddly.” But McDonnell apologized and amended Virginia’s proclamation to include and condemn slavery.

The real problem here however, supercedes the omissions and one-sidedness of any single proclamation, including Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation. American history is largely promoted with slanted, bravado narratives of nationalism, whereby the means are always vindicated by glorifications of the end. And when it comes to the historiography of slavery, a taboo-blame of racism is transferred upon African Americans who veer from sugarcoated viewpoints.

As such, Americans are made to think that the Civil War was fought to end the Confederate immoralities of slavery. But based on unquestioned racism that lasted well into the 1960s, it’s illogical that millions of Whites would actually fight and slaughter 624,000 of themselves over the rights of Blacks way back in the 1860s. If the Emancipation Proclamation was really predicated upon America’s “goodness of democracy,” why would Democrats and Republicans turnaround and willfully legislate a full century of segregation after so much self-bloodshed?

On the surface, this outlook certainly qualifies for a transferred taboo-blame of racism. But to lend historical validation, consider a quote from President Obama himself. As then-senator, he commented to Time Magazine (June 25, 2005) that: “I cannot swallow whole the view of Lincoln as the Great Emancipator. I am fully aware of his limited views on race. Anyone who actually reads the Emancipation Proclamation knows it was more a Military Document than a clarion call for justice.”

Speaking of “omissions and one-sidedness” in proclamations . . . Instead of mandating a unilateral “Military Document” (signed only by him and his Secretary of State), Lincoln and representatives of our forbearers should have jointly agreed and formally signed a binding “Bilateral Accord” that satisfied the ideals and demands of the 4 million “Emancipated” people in question. That would have been the honorable, non-racist, democratic thing for any offending government to do after nearly 250 years of enslavement.

What’s lasting and telling about this affront and disingenuous nature of the Emancipation Proclamation, is the unspoken but undeniable lack of affinity and familiarity that African Americans hold towards it today. Although it presumably represents our long-awaited “triumph over slavery,” it’s hard to find a Black person who can recite a complete phrase from it. Simply ask around and you’ll find proof yourself.

The unedited truth is that Lincoln ended slavery in the Confederacy for the same reason it was instituted – to make capitalism more functional. By the 1860s the Industrial Revolution was in gear. Northern industrial businesses would outperform Southern agrarian businesses, making it necessary to restructure labor, commerce, and capital investments. Paying low wages to Black industrial laborers therefore made better economic sense and great social policy for a more civilized face of government.

But since Southern states stood to lose billions in property (enslaved) assets and wealth, the Confederates sought secession and war became an unavoidable consequence of this industrial shift. While a Confederate victory would have definitely prolonged slavery, this should not be politically misconstrued into the notion that Lincoln’s fight against secession was thereby a fight for the justice of abolition.

To believe that the principal of the Civil War was to “free” Africans from the Confederates is as inaccurate as thinking the current war in Afghanistan is being fought to free Afghans from the Taliban. Although Afghans may eventually be liberated from Taliban influences as a by-product of the war, the underlying purpose and politics of the conflict are immensely more far-reaching. And likewise were the driving circumstances between the Civil War and the by-product of Emancipation.

But since the facts of American history are slanted with narratives to glorify American democracy, the Civil War is framed to unduly credit and equate the Union with noble motives. So it’s acceptable to place taboo-blames of racism on supporters of Confederate History Month, since Confederates resided on the opposite side of the war. Yet, the prevailing mischaracterizations surrounding Lincoln and the Emancipation Proclamation, now cause African Americans to reside on the opposite side of the truth.

That would fly in the face of everything that we stand for.The catastrophic failure of free-trade policies in Africa may be one partial source of this confusion. The actual, literal slavery that flourishes under the auspices of free trade (in Brazil, Jordan, and elsewhere) may be another.Philadelphia - At a Wharton Business School conference on business in Africa, World Trade Organization representative Hanniford Schmidt announced the creation of a WTO initiative for "full private stewardry of labor" for the parts of Africa that have been hardest hit by the 500 years of Africa's free trade with the West. The initiative will require Western companies doing business in some parts of Africa to own their workers outright. Schmidt recounted how private stewardship has been successfully applied to transport, power, water, traditional knowledge, and even the human genome. The WTO's "full private stewardry" program will extend these successes to (re)privatize humans themselves."Full, untrammelled stewardry is the best available solution to African poverty, and the inevitable result of free-market theory," Schmidt told more than 150 attendees. Schmidt acknowledged that the stewardry program was similar in many ways to slavery, but explained that just as "compassionate conservatism" has polished the rough edges on labor relations in industrialized countries, full stewardry, or "compassionate slavery," could be a similar boon to developing ones. The audience included Prof. Charles Soludo (Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria), Dr. Laurie Ann Agama (Director for African Affairs at the Office of the US Trade Representative), and other notables. Agama prefaced her remarks by thanking Scmidt for his macroscopic perspective, saying that the USTR view adds details to the WTO's general approach. Nigerian Central Bank Governor Soludo also acknowledged the WTO proposal, though he did not seem to appreciate it as much as did Agama.A system in which corporations own workers is the only free-market solution to African poverty, Schmidt said. "Today, in African factories, the only concern a company has for the worker is for his or her productive hours, and within his or her productive years," he said. "As soon as AIDS or pregnancy hits—out the door. Get sick, get fired. If you extend the employer's obligation to a 24/7, lifelong concern, you have an entirely different situation: get sick, get care. With each life valuable from start to finish, the AIDS scourge will be quickly contained via accords with drug manufacturers as a profitable investment in human stewardees. And educating a child for later might make more sense than working it to the bone right now."To prove that human stewardry can work, Schmidt cited a proposal by a free-market think tank to save whales by selling them. "Those who don't like whaling can purchase rights to specific whales or groups of whales in order to stop those particular whales from getting whaled as much," he explained. Similarly, the market in Third-World humans will "empower" caring First Worlders to help them, Schmidt said. One conference attendee asked what incentive employers had to remain as stewards once their employees are too old to work or reproduce. Schmidt responded that a large new biotech market would answer that worry. He then reminded the audience that this was the only possible solution under free-market theory. There were no other questions from the audience that took issue with Schmidt's proposal.During his talk, Schmidt outlined the three phases of Africa's 500-year history of free trade with the West: slavery, colonialism, and post-colonial markets. Each time, he noted, the trade has brought tremendous wealth to the West but catastrophe to Africa, with poverty steadily deepening and ever more millions of dead. "So far there's a pattern: Good for business, bad for people. Good for business, bad for people. Good for business, bad for people. That's why we're so happy to announce this fourth phase for business between Africa and the West: good for business—GOOD for people."The conference took place on Saturday, November 11. The panel on which Schmidt spoke was entitled "Trade in Africa: Enhancing Relationships to Improve Net Worth." Some of the other panels in the conference were entitled "Re-Branding Africa" and "Growing Africa's Appetite." Throughout the comments by Schmidt and his three co-panelists, which lasted 75 minutes, Schmidt's stewardee, Thomas Bongani-Nkemdilim, remained standing at respectful attention off to the side."This is what free trade's all about," said Schmidt. "It's about the freedom to buy and sell anything—even people."

DR. Bonds are written based on the persons name and social security number and are sold through a brokerage firm such as AG Edwards or Merrill Lynch who has the contract to sell all the prison bonds for the city, county, state or federal prisons. Over 50% of the money market bonds right now are purchased in Japan or China.I've been told by researchers that Walmart and used to be, Kmart, also purchase these bonds. Wal-Mart mostly doing so by emptying out bank accounts at night. Both companies are fronts for enormous money machines. The way the bond works is that a monetary value is placed on the alleged crime and then factored the way banks factor their money. In other words if a person is convicted of a felony the value would be $4 million. The county/city/state then multiplies it by ten, so the bond that goes out for sale with the prisoners name and social security number is a short-term promissory note. It's offered at $40 million. Perhaps an investor will offer 40% of the $40 million, or $16 million. Once this promissory note of the face value of $40 million reaches the banks it is then multiplied again by 200 to 300% and sold as bank securities. For those of you who wonder why the US has more people in prison per capita than any other nation on earth, you'll begin to understand how we can have a weakening economy and still fund wars overseas. It's all based on prisoners, in other words, prison for profit.Knowing all this and knowing that a prisoner can have a net worth of say, $10,000 per day in the money markets, helped me explain to many bewildered women why they were in jail. We were only merchandise in a warehouse. The storage was pretty cheap; one woman while in jail researched the cost of feeding prisoners per day which ranged from 74 cents to $2.72 per prisoner per day.Owners of the Prison Systems in America is, CORRECTION CORP OF AMERICA. It's headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee and owns all the private prison systems in AMERICA and are selling the commercial paper. This is how it Works: A bid bond is done on Form 24, which comes out of the GSA Office (General Services Administration which is out of GAO (General Accounting Office} which is under the Comptroller General. This Blake Bond Bid Bond is promulgated at the time the social security card is issued. When you are arrested the bond is filled out and they issue a Performance Bond, which is done from Form 25, and then they do a Payment Bond, which is a Form 25A.The Bonds are being underwritten by the Banks. This is where the PAINE WEBBERGROUP comes in.The Plaintiff in all criminal tax cases in the USA is the PAINE WEBBER GROUP as the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The PAINE WEBBER GROUP is a group of international businesses. The PAINE WEBBER GROUP is providing the Securities for the prisons and is selling the Bonds, and the Banks, The ABA (AMERICAN BANKING ASSOCIATION) like LEHMEN BROTHERS, in New York City, are the underwriters on the Bonds. The Banks (the underwriters) is where the money isoriginally coming from.A six digit tracking number is issued for the Certificate of Stocks in the Commodity and Security Exchange in the USA by CUSIP (see www.cusip.com and www.cjts.com the law enforcement tracking software) and a nine digit number (called Ordnance Number) is issued for the Certificate of Stocks going internationally to ANNA (see link for ANNA which is in Brussels, Belgium at www.cusip.com ).These Securities are sold through the Commodity and Security Exchange. The bottom line is they are selling stocks in the prison system.. The jails are referred to as Warehouses and the prisoners are called Goods (oops). They are selling the Goods or the Account as Chattel, and as Commercial Paper on the Stock Exchange. Reminds one of the days when slaves were bought and sold on the auction block! The PAINE WEBBER GROUP is the prime stockholder in this CCA (Correction CORP of America).Let's call this person Lynn. The TRANSPORT COMPANY who transported her to Colorado in a van with 16 other prisoners being transported about had the words "Transport Corporation of America....Nashville, Tennessee." Transport rides are also called 'diesel therapy' by those who know about them. However twenty of the largest companies such as WAL-MART; EXON; GENERAL MOTORS; FORD MOTORS; CHEVY; TEXICO; CITY CORP; IBM; EXPHILIP; HEWLETT PACKARD; VERIZON; UNITED POSTAL SERVICE, UPS; and etc. are also involved as well as other stock holding corporations. There are numerous corporations that hold these stocks amounting to billions of dollars.Of course the monies generated is all off budget with no accounting to the People, even though the CORRECTION CORP OF AMERICA through the PAINE WEBBER GROUP is acting in the capacity of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.Right now there are many forms of jail in the US, actual jail, CCP ankle bracelet, transport jail, probation, parole, they all generate incomeLet's call him Paul. Paul and I were released on Friday on personal recognizance and allowed to go to New Mexico. We have a hearing in CO on Sept 13, 04. We got home Sat. night and have been doing catch up here at home today. I'll write an update on Monday or Tuesday. I will especially have some words about the very heinous prison Transport System in our country. For now suffice it to say that it took 20 hours in a prison van with 16 prisoners to get from Albuquerque to Hot Sulphur Springs, normally a 8 or 9 hour trip. All of us rode in hand cuffs and shackles the entire trip. There were 3 stops for McDonalds' 'food.' No one but the officers got off the van unless they were being dropped off. No exercise at any point. No movement allowed but to use the porta potty on board. Cattle being transported across country are generally treated better. I talked with a man who'd been on transport from California to Colorado since July 8, 04. My transport date was August 11, 04. Someone in the midwest told me he knew of a prisoner being transported for six months and occasionally dropped off in a county jail some-where to await a different transport van. It's my understanding that once you're a prisoner in the system, the county/agency holding you is floating bond for $10,000 per day with your name and your bar code (Soc. sec. #) and these bonds are bundled periodically and sold through Merrill Lynch, AG Edwards, etc. for each state.Prison for profit, it's not just baloney and white bread. Paul was released from CCP (ankle bracelet) in Albuquerque and allowed to drive up to Hot Sulphur where he spent another 3 days in jail (my time over the summer has been 5 days in May, 18 days in June-July, 15 days in August and on house arrest, bond from May 24 to June 25, and ankle bracelet from mid-July to August 5, 04). Thankfully, Paul with all his transplant medications, diabetes medications, was in from May 19-24, 04.The rest of the time he was on bond or ankle bracelet house arrest. I doubt he'd have survived a prolonged transport situation. The alleged crime? "Influencing a public office" and "filing a false document." This is what they called our UCC1 financing statement sent when we informed public officials there would be a fee for using our copyrighted property (PAUL SCHMALTZ and PATRICIA SCHMALTZ), which they did anyway. And, of course, there were no repercussions for those officials when they held a fraudulent, unpublished sale our home business on the court house steps, etc. As you well know there is no remedy in the courts of any kind. They completely ignored our sovereign status with Little Shell Pembina and Apostille with the sovereignty filed by cancellatura.I just found the notes on Jack Smith and Gene Keatings research on prisoner bonds (not the kind you bail out with). GOTOBUTTON BM_2_ Www.ctjs.com is the criminal justice tracking system software which shows the software that metro police departments use. Go to the user manual and it takes to 2% appearance bond fees. Then go to special operating software for courtrooms and it shows you how the 2% appearance bond fees are tied to the defendant's account. Go to the bottom in the original user's manual and it says, "Fine accounting." Further up the page is assessments. it shows how it's all tracked from beginning to end.A caller wrote to a court once and send, "Send me a complete accounting of my case." It came back showing a $90,000 active security and they said, "Your paperwork has been forwarded to the Department of Justice." The caller wrote a week later and said, "Send me a final pay-off amount for all my money. What would there be after 18 years without any fees, fines and interest."They said, "We sent all your stuff to the Department of Justice. Go to GOTOBUTTON BM_3_ www.cjts.com and you'll see all there is to see about a public witness. The caller downloaded it. Roger Elvick had written something about stock exchange transactions. Once you get the bond you are creditor in fact. Alan comes on the phone call with Jack Smith who had studied Roger Elvick's stuff intensely. He understands marketing accounts and the courts. Roger had said, "We have to find a way to track the account." The caller on Jack's program grabbed the phone book and just randomly picked a brokerage company.AG Edwards. He called up to talk to a broker. Caller says he's trying to figure something out. If there was someone trading bonds in the bond market in the caller's name without his permission could he track the account. AG Edwards broker says they would have to have a social security number or a driver's license number. Caller says he knows someone who was trading in Roger Elvick's name. Broker asked if it was a friend, family member or corporation? Caller said to the broker it was a corporation. Broker then said every bond has a cusip # Committee on Uniform Securities Identification Process Number. You can go to www.cusip.com. There are two main outlets. Chicago and New York. You'd have to find out who their transfer agents are and then you could track the trade. You can even find out if funds are being embezzled off the account. When the cop gives you a ticket and you go into court, the judge is using this as a credit item to trade in the markets and he's doing calls. What if someone went in and caught them short on the margin call? The broker at AG Edwards knew what the caller was talking about. He said, "IF you want to follow this up anymore, you'll have to go to the Securities Exchange division in your state. So, the next thing the caller did was check the Department of Financial Institution of his state on the web and looked up securities exchange division. The advisory committee showed AG Edwards was the transfer agent for the state, making all the bond trades. The cop does all the paper work in the car. He is creating the assessment and the paperwork in his car when he makes out the ticket by using name, social security number, and driver's license number. They assume you voluntarily gave it to the cop and make the trade. Every cop is a private business contractor working for the corporation. If this is true then you can follow up on every trade made in your name on your exemption.Find the bond written on your birth certificate. Use that and access your exemption through the stock market that way. Roger Elvick knew this. The transfer and transfer agent and the number with social security number and every case number will be listed. Every traffic ticket will be listed. Broker says if Ameritrade had a trade he could track it, but he can't track AG Edwards, and others. It's going to take someone higher up. The brokers are enslaved by their industry. When you have a job your company is using your social security number. They'll keep taking your exemption even if you leave that company. AG Edwards sells the prisoner/traffic bonds for several states. How does this correlate with admiralty? Jack Smith says that in admiralty the vessels are carrying commodities and goods. So they carry invoices, packing slips and bills of lading. Warrants and securities back up the goods.Lag, goods that float on the water. Gene Keating says that Title 46 is the shipping code in admiralty. Secretary of Transportation is the receiver of the bankruptcy of the UNITED STATES, section 1247 Title 46, he's the receiver and trustee. He's talking about the carriage of goods sea act which is Title 46 in the appendix. Bills of lading are all documents of title--warrants and documents are all underthe UCC and deal with documents of title. Title 46 Sections 181-189--admiralty is very complex. Even judges are taught on a need to know basis. Appellate judges often don't know all this. This all leads to different aspects of admiralty/maritime law, both inside and outside the courtroom. The carriage of goods act, Title 46, is all governed by the Secretary of Transportation, the Coast Guard, Secretary of Commerce and the treasury are all under Secretary of Transportation and it's all in commerce. The Secretary of transportation is the head of the maritime commission. All vessels are registered under Title 46, Section 31-301 which talks about maritime liens that arise by operation of law. There's a maritime lien commission. The Secretary of Transportation is running everything because we are all on the 'highway of commerce', the water came inland, so to speak, and now it's here under the law of trust.Everyone who comes into the courtroom is a ward in admiralty, a ward of the court. We're in an "in rem" proceeding in admiralty in a title dispute and we have to come in as the title holder or have interest or claim in the subject matter of the complaint, or we are the 'vessel' and they have arrested 'the vessel.'We're not in common law in the courts, we're in admiralty and they get jurisdiction by arresting the vessel. They, lawyers district attorneys, law enforcement, don't use the proper process and they need to trick, cajole, deceive, pressure us to do whatever they need to do and have us make a mistake to give them 'in personam jurisdiction' over us when we take on the attributes of a general appearance to the subject matter of the pleadings against the defendant "in rem" and we start acting in any capacity on the merits of the charges or by taking on the persona of the defendant vessel 'in rem.'There's lots more to this, but I think you get the gist about 'prisons for profit. In tying this all together it would appear that there are many laggard souls, some are incarcerated in prison and some are working in the prisons. And many, many more are indifferent to what is going on in our country as far as prisons and prisoners are concerned.U.S.CORPORATE citizenship is Legislative Bond-age/Bondage, Coerced Slavery, and Undisclosed Fraud a 14th Amendment Colored BLACK African-American U.S. Negroes have no Favorable Standing or Respectable Status in Law (The UNITED SNAKES has been unjustly enriching themselves off of so-called Black Peoples in AmeriKKKa for 500 Years). . . . Everyone has a right to a Real Identity, Proper Status, True Nationality, Rightful Heritage, and Great Second-to-None CultureWE ARE STILL IN A RACIST WAR.TIME IS RUNNING EXTREMELY SHORT FOR THE U.S. 14th AMENDMENT ARTIFICIAL/CORPORATE COLORED BLACK AFRICAN-AMERICAN NEGROSIN NORTH AMERIKKKA.
Nation-Wide Martial Law is already being planned for Insurgent U.S. citizens. There are FEMA Camps, Prisoner Transport Railcars, Shackled Boxcars, Burial Vaults, Bio-War Vaccinations, and Nazi/KKK Army Troops, all standing by and waiting for a New Pre-fabricated/Pre-orchestrated/Pre-meditated FALSE Attack on the Sheep-Like U.S. citizens. For once in your Black Life, try to understand something of this magnitude and atleast attempt to force yourselves to stay away from being UP IN DA CLUB during Booty Night, Hoochie Night, Sports Night, Reggae Night, Mack Daddy Night, Church Night, Trifling Night, Fish-Fry Night, Bingo Night, and every other NON-PRODUCTIVE NEGRO Night that's out there.So-called Black People in AmeriKKKa are being (and have been) inhuemanely commercially warehoused in the White Supremacist U.S. Jails and U.S. Prisons. This sad scenario predicament could only have been unlawfully accomplished by deceptively conning and tricking a Natural Flesh and Blood†Person into the negative presumptive status of being an Artificial/Fictitious Corporate U.S. citizen from the time of their Natural Births by way of their Birth Certificates at the U.S. Hospitals which they were born. Your Birth Certificates is actually a BOND Certificate. YOU the Natural Flesh and Blood Person are the Surety and Collateral for the Bond in which you have no idea about. This (unknowingly and unwillingly) is your very first introduction to U.S. Bond-age/Bondage and Commercial Slavery. Your Death Certificate also serves as a lucrative Bond Certificate which is monetarily retrieved and recouped (cashed in on) when you die without you or your family (and/or heirs) have no idea about. Your wealth then would be reverted back to the Money Master Criminals who set up and placed you in the system in the first place. DON'T YOU LOVE THE U..NITED S.NAKES !!!BLACK Lawyers and NEGRO Attorneys do not re-present the Natural Flesh and Blood Man or Woman. Their very exact positions are only known to serve and re-present the All-capital-Lettered Artificial/Fictitious CORPORATE Name which appears on your Birth Certificate. That All-Capital-Lettered Artificial/Fictitious Legal Entity is a Subject/Slave and Ward of the Corporation known as the UNITED STATES Inc. OF AMERIKKKA (which is the Corporate Interest of England). Mostly all Lawyers and Attorney are affiliated with an exclusive membership in the B.A.R. Association. B.A.R. is said to be known to stand for Barrister/British Aristocrat/Accreditation Regency/Register. These Slimy-Ass BLACK/NEGRO Attorneys and Lawyers hold a special Esquire Title of Nobility from the same entity in which you are sadly a helpless Subject/Slave to. Attorney and/or Lawyers do not ever favorably re-present you in the negative Corporate Status which you are currently in. They actually sell your Black Ass up the Commercial CORPORATE River Plantation and receive a hefty Salary from their British Masters of Blood-thirsty ENGLAND.What actually goes on in a U.S. Courtroom goes all the way back to the days of King Edward of Britain/England. What went on back then was known as the Statute Merchant. The Statute Merchant is a Bond of Merchant or Bond of Record (otherwise known as Bond-Age/Bondage or Slavery). These Corporate Statutes themselves are the Bond and what they do is duplicate the FAKE Statutes that they charge you under with what they call a recognizance Bond and the dumb-ass sheep-like people (U.S. citizens) sign the Recognizance Bond. Without reading what the bond says. What the bond says is that YOU (as a presumptive U.S. “Corporate citizen) voluntarily agree to pay back the National Debt of the U.S. Corporation (which was created in 1871 out of England). When you go into a U.S. Courtroom on what you thought was a Criminal Charge, the charge is actually CIVIL not CRIMINAL.Colored Black African-American U.S. Negroes desperately need to know how the admiralty works. Your U.S. Birth Certificate literally placed YOU in Admiralty Jurisdiction (atleast since 1933). There is a book out by John E. Hall entitled: Jurisdiction and Practice of the Law of Admiralty. This book was allegedly used in the Vice Admiralty Courts in the ORIGINAL Thirteen (13) British/English Colonies during the American Revolution. It is said that this same particular book started the American Revolution. What they are doing in these RACIST Artificial U.S. Courts are all about Bonds (Bond-age/Bondage or Slavery). When 14th Amendment Colored BLACK African-American U.S. Negroes go into the courtroom after you have been unlawfully arrested on some trumped up bullsh%t charges, these wicked-ass devils use two (2) different sets of Bonds. What they do when you are arrested is they fill out a Bid Bond. The united States/Snakes District Court uses 273, 274, and 275. SF means Standard Form. Standard Form 273, Standard Form 274, and Standard Form 275. This is the United States/Snakes District Court. There is another set of Bonds (Bond-age/Bondage or Slavery) and they are all put out by GSA.; General Services Administration. G.S.A. Form SF24 is the “Bid Bondâ€. The “Performance Bond†id SF25. The Payment Bond is SF25A and put out by the General Services administration which is abbreviated G.S.A. The G.S.A. is under the Comptroller of the Currency which is under the G.A.O. or General Accounting Office. What do you think that they would be doing with these bonds? What is actually going on in the courtroom is that they are suing you for a debt collection. What it actually is, is an action of ASSUMPSIT. The word PRESUME comes from the word Assumpsit which means I agree or I presume to do. An act of Assumpsit which means I agree to a collection of debt. If you look at these bonds. . . everyone of these bonds have a PENAL SUM attached to it. The reason for the Penal Sum is if you don't pay the debt, you automatically go into Default Judgement. That is what is going on in the courtroom. This is why all of these so-called Black People are sitting and rotting in U.S. Prisons and U.S. Jails wondering what the hell is going on. This current U.S. Court/Prison System is a Blood-Sucking Capitalist RACIST Criminal Operation in which the Sheep-Like U.S. citizens are unknowingly the fuel and basis to the overall production. Back in the days of King Edward I (of Britain/England), if you owed a debt, they would send a Sheriff out with a Warrant to arrest you. This is ALL CIVIL, this is NOT CRIMINAL. It's just a smoke screen to cover up what they are doing with Mercantile Civil Law and what they did when they arrested the people with a warrant and brought them into court, they were made to sign a bond to release until the civil suit commenced. What they do is arrest you, then they hold you. Basically they hold you until the suit has been completed and when they get Default Judgment on you because of failure to pay the debt, they put you in prison. Remember, the DEBT in which you supposedly failed to pay is the duplicated Statute (Fake Law) which has been presented to you in the form of a Recognizance Bond. You have already unknowingly signed this Bond.B.A.R. Lawyers and Attorneys exist to cover up the smoke screen operation on and against the people. Lawyers and Attorneys shamelessly and shamefully lead you into default judgment. They have become known to blatantly and coldly advise you to take an unfavorable Plea to something that you had absolutely nothing to do with in the first place (otherwise known as Plea Bargaining). This unfortunate act immediately results in a Default Judgmentâ€. Then the courts put you in prison and then they sell your Default Judgment. WHO DO THEY SELL THESE DEFAULT JUDGMENTS TO? These State Court Default Judgments are sold to the U.nited S.nakes District Court. And this is all being done in direct collusion with the U.nited S.nakes Department of Treasury.. What is being sold from the State Court and bought by the District Court are Commercial Items. Commercial Items are regulated in the Uniform Commercial Code as Commercial Paper. Commercial Paper are Negotiable Instruments. According to the Uniformed Commercial Code, anything that you put your signature on is a Negotiable Instrument. The Uniform Commercial Code is Lex Mercatoria which is Latin for Mercantile/Merchant Law. Remember, as of 1871, U..S. Congress created a U.S. Corporation (known as UNITED STATES Inc. OF AMERICA and is incorporated and chartered out of England). This U.S. Corporation is owned and operated by International Bankers and Foreign Creditors in which the Original de jure U.S. Republic treasonously and fraudulently surrendered it's Sovereignty over to. Up until this present day and very moment, all courts in this U.nited S.nakes ENGLISH Corporation are using Mercantile/Merchant Law because each and every one of you (by way of the All-Capital-Lettered SURETY Names listed on your U.S. Birth Certificates) are unknowingly under the presumptive status of appearing to be Merchants-at-Law. Because you use Commercial Paper/Negotiable Instruments every day (by the constant multiple use of your signature), you are firmly held to the overwhelming responsibility of being an expert in these Merchant Affairs and Merchant Law Operations. Every time you put your signature on a piece of paper, you are creating a negotiable/non-negotiable instrument (otherwise known as Commercial Paper). Every time you endorse something, you are unknowingly acting as an accommodation Party under the Uniform Commercial Code 3-419. An accommodation Party is anyone who loans their signature to another Party. When people in the Corporate U.S. numerously and constantly sign their names on any and all paper documents, you are loaning your signature out to be re-written and re-signed in any manner and on any document in which they choose. This is exactly what is going on in all of the U.nited S.nakes Corporate Courts. First of all, you are unfavorably signing and loaning your signature on a Corporate Statute (Fake Law/Fake Charge). These Corporate Statutes are the very basis of a negative Bond (meaning your Bond-age/Bondage or Slavery). Secondly, these statutes (Fake Laws/Fake Charges) or Bonds are then duplicated and held against you as a Recognizance Bond. Now, with your initial signature (in which you unknowingly loaned when you signed), the Slimy Sleazy Crooks can now duplicate your signature on a Performance Bond and then furthermore on a Payment Bond. All of these Corporate Statutes (Fake Laws/Fake Charges which are the actual Bonds) have an unseen Penal Sum attached to them. This is why the CORPORATE Enforcement Agents (otherwise known as Police Officers) charge you with something every time and every chance they get because they are the Revenue Enforcement Agents which initiates the fuel which is used to run the entire Commercial Slave matrix System. When you don't pay or can't pay the penal sum or DEBT of the Fake Law/Fake Charge Statute in which you are unknowingly held to, you immediately go into a Default Judgment Status and go straight to a U.S. Jail or U.S. Prison. This why an entire Nation of so-called BLACK People are sadly rotting and wasting in this HIGHLY-RACIST WHITE SUPREMACIST JAIL/PRISON System with absolutely no damned clue as to what is really going on.It's all about being fraudulently and unknowingly coerced to pay a DEBT. YOU ARE UNDER THE NEGATIVE PRESUMPTION OF A PERPETUAL DEBTOR (by way of that unlawful adhesion con-tract which your parents signed at your Birth). The name on that Birth Certificate is not YOU. It has been designed and created to make YOU (the Flesh And Blood Natural Person) permanently and unknowingly responsible for a fraudulent National U.S. DEBT of an “Artificial/Fictitious U.S. CORPORATION Legal Entity which is chartered out of Bloodthirsty England.IF YOU DO NOT OR CANNOT PAY THE U.S. DEBT, YOU GO TO A U.S. JAIL OR A U.S. PRISON. EVERYBODY IS FEEDING OFF OF THE U.S. JAIL/PRISON SYSTEM. ALL MAJOR CORPORATIONS ARE FEEDING OFF OF THE U.S. JAIL/PRISON SYSTEM.It is all being funneled through the Depository Trust Corporation located at 55 Waters Street in New York, N.Y. The D.T.C. is a sub-agency of the U.S. Department of the Treasury. One Trillion Dollars ($1,000,000,000,000) a day goes through the D.T.C. This One Trillion Dollar (daily revenue going through the D.T.C.) is generated off of the Statutes/BONDS which are constantly created off of the Dumb-Ass Sheep-Like U.S. citizens (mostly the Black Ones) who are literally being massively sold and re-sold up the river on the NEW Commercial/Corporate Plantation currently known as The UNITED STAES/SNAKES Inc. OF AMERIKKKA (otherwise known as Washington, D.C./District of Columbia). The U.S. Jail/Prison System is a global networking System that includes Paine Webber. Paine Webber has 10,000 Corporations in it and they are the major primary stockholder in C.C.A. (Correction Corporation of AmeriKKKa) out of Nashville Tennessee. Everyone should have and know the list of these 10,000 Corporations. What they have done is Privatized the Incarceration System for profit. Every Major Corporation and Industry is lucratively benefitting from this Private “for Profit Industry. Even the Real Eastate Industry (like Ginny Mae, Fanny Mae, H.U.D., etc.) are tied into this International Market. This U.S. Privatized Jail/Prison System is fully operational on the International Stock and Bond Markets.(NOTE: Barack Obama entire NEW U.S. Administration is known to have mostly come from Wall Street. Wall Street is famously known for trading and selling Stock. Another word for STOCK is SLAVE. The very first commodity on Wall Street were SLAVES. New York Wall Street runs directly down to the East River which is where the SLAVES came in).REIT stands for Real Estate Investment Trust and PZN refers to Prison Trust. All of the People and Real Estate are owned by Trusts and Corporations because they hold the Bonds to them. Lehman Brother Banking Cartel recently gave 6 million dollars to New York which had a deficit. This transaction formed some sort of a Treaty. The term Prison Facilities are replaced with the term Credit Facilities. Lehman Brothers are underwriting the Prison System. All Banks in the ‘Corporate U.S. are directly/indirectly connected with the E.I.S. Bank (of International Settlements) located in Switzerland. The Payment Bonds (mentioned earlier) are pooled into sets of three (3) and are then known to be considered as Mortgage Backed Securities which are now Investment Securities. These Investment Securities are then sold on the International Markets. YOU are funding this whole entire process because YOU are the Sureties and Bonding (Collateral) which is the basis of the Negotiable Instruments (otherwise known as Commercial Paperâ€). The Security & Exchange Commission and New York Stock Exchange is directly involved and are highly essential for the Commercial Slave Operation. This is what you get yourselves into when you go into default when you get railroaded into going to a U.S. Court. ALL CRIMES ARE COMMERCIAL.WHO IS ACTUALLY RUNNING AMERIKKKA (Have you ever asked that question)?Under the doctrine of Parens Patriae (which means Government as Parent), as the result of the manipulated bankruptcy of the UNITED SNAKES of AmeriKKKa in 1930, ALL assets of the American People, their natural labor/life energy, and the rest of this country itself are held by the Depository Trust Corporation at 55 Water Street, N.Y., N.Y., secured by Uniform Commercial Code Liens, which are then monetized as debt money by the Federal Reserve. It may interest you to know that under the umbrella of the Depository Trust Corporation lies the CEDE corporation, the Federal Reserve Corporation, the American Bar Association (the legal arm of the banking interests), and the Internal Revenue Service (the system collection agency for the entire Fraudulent Scam). Keep in mind that the mysterious CEDE Corporation is a controlled private unknown holding company of the Depository Trust Corporation. The Independent Treasury act of 1920 suspended the de jure (rightful) Treasury Department of the U.NITED S.NAKES Government.(Look up the word de jure in some type of law reference and you will see that it means by right of legal establishment.)The U.S. Congress turned the treasury department over to a private corporation. This private corporation (which is nothing more than a Fascist Monopolistic CARTEL) is none other than the Federal Reserve and their agents.. There is currently a very well-kept secret being held from the American People. The bulk of the ownership of the Federal Reserve System is held by a select group of International Banking Interests and absolutely NONE is held by the U.NITED S.NAKES Treasury.ROTHCHILD BANK OF LONDONROTHCHILD BANK OF BERLINWARBURG BANK OF HAMBURGWARBURG BANK OF AMSTERDAMLAZARD BROTHERS OF PARISISRAEL MOSES SEIF BANKS OF ITALYCHASE MANHATTAN BANK OF NEW YORKGOLDMAN, SACHS OF NEW YORKLEHMAN BROTHERS OF NEW YORKKUHN LOEB BANK OF NEW YORKWhat does all of this mean? It means that the Federal Reserve is at the root of most of the U.S. statutory regulations, U.S. Laws, and basicly in control and regulation of virtually ALL aspects of hue-man activity in the UNITED SNAKES.. The above mentioned International Banking Interests are the Foreign Creditors who are in absolute complete control of the Private “For-Profit/Commercial Agency Corporation currently known as the UNITED SNAKES Inc. of AmeriKKKa. The Federal Reserve Act was allowed to be passed in 1913 by a sneaky/conniving U.S. Senator (Politician/Politrickan) by the alleged name of Nelson Aldrich which was said to have been a Rothchild Agent. The bottom line is that it all boils down to the harsh reality and sad fact that THE FERDERAL RESERVE AND THEIR FOREIGN BANKING INTERESTS ARE YOUR RUTHLESS MASTERS. YOUARE THEIR DIRECT PROPERTY AND PERSONAL PRIVATE ASSETS. YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO RIGHTS TO DO ANYTHING. ALL YOU NOW HAVE IS CHILD-LIKE PRIVILEGES (And those will be taken completely away from you in a very short while “ during the inhuemane Global Enslavementand catastrophically-unnatural New World Order).UNIFORMED COMMERCIAL CODE IS THE UNSEEN HAND !!!YOU will personally change and revert back to the Natural Lawful Flesh and Blood SOVEREIGN MAN or WOMAN with unlimited Creator-Given Birthrights and Hue-Man Rights, Or YOU will remain under the presumption of being Un-Lawful Artificial/Corporate SUBJECT U.S. SLAVE Property and Assets with absolutely no rights or constitutional protections.THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO MORE MIDDLE FOR THE SYNTHETICALLY-ENGINEERED COLORED BLACK AFRICAN-AMERICAN NEGROS IN NORTH AMERIKKKA.

We are all being played by a Wicked BEASTCome Out Of Her My People

Merretazon, Northeast Regional Representative; 215-850-1699merretazon@verizon.netBarbara Baker, Midwest Regional Representative 312-720-0648Bbaker601@att.netKamm Howard, Board Member At Large, 773-520-0369khoward.amenta@sbcglobal.netCongressional apologies are not enough, reparations accord for Blacks is needed, now!We don’t think it is coincidental that, at the same time the National Coalition of Blacks for Reparations in America (N’COBRA) was holding its 20th Annual Conference in Dallas, Texas during the week of “Juneteenth” -- June 19th, the day in 1865 that slaves learned at the end of the Civil War that they were free the U.S. Senate was apologizing for the enslavement and racial segregation of African-Americans in a Senate Resolution. Without a reparations accord/proclamation this is just another assault on Blacks in America .N'COBRA has long stated its position on the growing number of resolutions of profound regret and questionable apologies by units of government and private corporations. These resolutions should be viewed only as means to open dialogue about the elements of repair that must be included in a reparations accord. Our position is no different with this most recent Senate resolution. The N’COBRA twentieth conference marked a paradigm shift for the reparations movement in America , defined as The Reparations Accord: The Reparations Movement in the Age of Obama.N'COBRA position remains, notwithstanding congressional electoral politics and this age of Obama as President, that there are at least five injury areas remaining from America ’s system of enslavement that must be resolved and all apologies, proclamations or resolutions must be steps leading toward recommendations, policies, resources and programs of ways and means for repairing the damage. The issue is no longer should reparations be authorized to Blacks, but what should be the elements of a reparations accord to assure that the monstrous destruction of human life, human culture, and human possibilities never occurs again and, that repair and healing begin. N’COBRA will engage the sponsors of the bill on the real work that lies ahead. Among the many areas a reparations accord for Backs must include are five key, broad yet specific injury areas: people-hood, education, criminal punishment, wealth/poverty, and health.Obama, Change, and reparations are good for America .N'COBRA sincerely appreciates Congressman John Conyers' efforts to stay on the front line with his enduring leadership and congressional diplomacy over the last 20 years. He has helped to awaken the moral spirit of justice in the U.S. by submitting H.R. 40 in each session of Congress. The passage of H.R 40, in the age of Obama, will go a long way to repair the damage done to the enslaved ancestors of Blacks in America .Additionally, N’COBRA agrees with Senator Harkin, one of the co-sponsors of the resolution, who is quoted as saying, "Let us make no mistake: This resolution will not fix lingering injustices.” We also join with senator Harkin in the belief it is long overdue, and the real work lies ahead.N’COBRA, as a coalition of individuals and organizations recognizes the continuous, uncompromising hard work of the Reparations Activists in America and throughout the world, as fostering and creating the atmosphere within which an apology of this nature has been made.As with any true apology/confession it is expected that the perpetrator(s) of the crime state as accurately as possible what the apology is for, seek repentance, and be willing to repair the damage done by acts of commission and omission. An apology alone falls short without both full identification and acknowledgement of the conduct that caused the injuries, along with the resources to repair the damage inflicted. The Senate resolution could have been crafted in such a way that it would help lead America out of its shameful denial while contextualizing the inordinately high levels of poverty, health related issues, poor education, poor housing, crime, poor families, etc., existing in present day African descendant communities which can be directly linked to the American system of enslavement. It is not the goal or intent of N’COBRA to bankrupt America , in that the wholesale destruction of human life, human culture, and human possibilities is incalculable. It is only logical that a dialog about the elements of a reparations accord be the next step, in connection with the passage of House Bill H.R.40: Commission to Study Reparation Proposal for African-Americans Act, sponsored by Congressman Conyers, which has been held hostage in committee since 1989.The demand for reparations by Blacks in America is not about a check. Reparations are the cross-road solution to the human capital development of Blacks, and reparations are ways and means of repairing the destruction of a civilized people. So, today, we tell the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives, and the whole wide world, that we lived and are living the “Whereas’ of your resolutions. The resolve of the resolutions, resolves nothing, instead it not only insults and inflames the advocates for reparations, but also reasonable Black people throughout the world working for the various units of the U.S. Government, including those fighting America ’s wars around the world.-30-

Reparations 101:The Context CardBy Minister Ari S. Merretazon, M.S.CED, Board Member, Northeast Representative,National Coalition of Blacks for Reparations in America (N’COBRA)Too many people in high, middle, and low places in America are still in denial about the crimes against humanity represented by the monstrous destruction of human life, culture, and human possibilities called The Holocaust of African Enslavement and Trade. This human tragedy covers a continuum from 1440 to the present.Often, when justice and repair is sought for such crimes, it is tagged by many “Europeanized” and “Americanized” Africans as “playing the race card” or the“victim card.” To counter this rebuff, the “context card” must be used. The “context card” is America’s violent God complex and history of enslavement based on race.As an expected outcome of this teaching moment, it is my objective to transfer within this short commentary, enough defining information wherein we as Americanized Africans will use the context card as the predicate for the re-constructing of our thinking and behavior so that we might continue the struggle for economic justice, repair and sovereignty as all humans do.The “context card” outlines and describes the defining elements of the economic legacy of Americanized Africans. In essence, my point is public policy and terror in America is still based on race, and, therefore, it must be challenged and re-constructed based on race, in the context of enslavement, and not the condescending notions of an inherent curse of God, and permanent social, economic, political pathologies, or civil rights.I am simply using the word “context” as defined by Webster’s New World College Dictionary, Fourth Edition meaning., the whole situation, background, or environment relevant to a particular event; circumstances in which an event occurred or occurs; a setting.”There is no card in the human capital development deck that can beat the context card because it is the core element of our moral universe. Like “deuces are wild” the context card out ranks all cards in the human capital development deck. Also, the context card is a key resource to be used at an opportune time to contend with and beat back assaults on our capacity as a people. The comparatively small degree of economic development of Americanized Africans is often wrongly and purposefully regarded as high achievement and success. This is a delusion created, controlled, and filtered by the "matrx"convergence strategies of the descendents of the “founding fathers” and the “power elite” of America, for example, chattel property, integration, Christian religion, civil rights, diversity, wealth-building, and, the first blackperson, place or thing, to do this or that. Please know and understand that, with no disrespect or disregard to origin, African-Americans are not to be compared with the contemporary surge of our African brothers and sisters into America. Here is an example of playing the context card--distinguishing African-Americans--from any of the Neo- African immigrant groups. The context card in not an excuse, it is posited as the cause and the reason for our status in America. It contextualizes our experiences from any and all immigrant groups in America. To trump the “ matrix-race card” and the “matrix-victim card,” I will not occupy the reader with the well established supporting economic and historical data, but play the “context card” so we may, as Brother Yumy Odom, Chairman, The Frator Heru Institute, often say, “start a revolution where it truly counts: in the mind!"The vertical social system of human destruction, enslavement and trade, the beginning of “capitalism,” is the causality of the under-developed Black economy in America. Left unchanged it is our legacy. The take away from this lesson is: Push-back with the context card!

Bordered by Senegal to the south, Mali to the east, eastern Algeria to the north, West Sahara to the north and the Atlantic Ocean to the west.Main geographic features: The country occupies an area of 1,037,000 sq. km, of which 80 per cent is arid and 20 per cent semi-arid. It consists of a plateau, of which the highest point in 915m, and the Adrar Mountains in the north. Mauritania has 700km of Atlantic Coastline and 800 km of shoreline along the Senegal River.Population: Estimated to be 2 million in 1988.Ethnic division: Black Africans and Arab-Berbers.National languages: Hassaniya (Arabic dialect). Pulaar (Fulani), Soninke, Wolof, Bambara and Imraguen.Official language: Arabic, and as administrative language French.Religion: 100 per cent Muslim of the Malekite Rite.Date of Independence: November 28, 1960 from France.Capital: Nouakchott.Currency: Ouguia Mauritanie (UM)Political System: At different times - one-party rule and military rule, plus contested multi-party system. Currently governed by a military junta.Economy: Agriculture, livestock, fishing and iron-ore.Literacy rate: 17 per cent.Main problems: Racial division, slavery, political instability, serious environmental degradation caused by drought and desertification. The geographical position of Mauritania makes the country a meeting point between Arab and African cultures. The interaction between these two cultures has bred tension within Mauritanian society and thereby generated a political tradition of intolerance and repression in the country.Historically, Mauritania was inhabited by Black Africans (Diallo, G., 1989). Here was the setting for the most advanced West African civilizations: Ghana and Tekrur (Fulani) from around the 5th to 12th century A.D. Whereas the former evolved into the great empires of Mali and Songhay which survived up to the 17th century, the latter developed into the theocratic Kingdom of Fouta Toro under the leadership of Oumar Tall who led the Fulani struggle against French colonial encroachment during the last decade of the 19th century. The massive influx of Arabs from the north during the 13th – 15th centuries drove settled Black communities south toward the Senegal River, whilst the French colonial encroachment, beginning in the 1850s from the south, had the opposite effect (Gerteiny, 1981). The indigenous population was consequently hemmed in between the two invading forces from the south and north.Since its artificial creation by colonial France in 1960, Mauritania has been a playground for violent ethnic strife, the shameful practices of classical slavery, civilian/military authoritarian rule compounded by serious ecological degradation resulting from prolonged droughts and catastrophic desertification processes. These four elements seem to have been mutually reinforcing to make Mauritania one of the least politically stable, most underdeveloped and heavily indebted countries among the least developed nations of the Third World. The arbitrary creation of Mauritania by the forcing together of two ethnically distinct and historically antagonistic communities makes any attempt to build a sense of nationhood and national identity a daunting task. This has been exacerbated by an obsessive determination on the part of the Arabs not to share political power with their Black co-citizens. The decolonization formula, as in Sudan, was that power was given to an Arabised minority to hold in check the Black majority. As in Sudan, such a prescription was a formula for tension and conflict. Mauritania and Sudan maintain close relations, based on mutual interests.Mauritania is comparable with Sudan in that there have been bloody ethno-racial wars between the indigenous Black Africans on the one hand and the immigrating Arabs on the other. The Arabs began to arrive into both countries from the north following the emergence and triumph of Islam in the Middle East from the early 7th century onward. The immigrants have been pressuring the original populations towards the south since that time. This has resulted in chronic north-south ethnic conflicts for political power and economic control within both nations. The Arabs have false assumptions of the superiority of their culture over that of the local, believing that there exists a culture vacuum, waiting to be filled by Islam/Arabization. This has been manifested by the forced Islamisation and Arabisation campaigns orchestrated by successive Arab regimes. As in the case of South Africa and Zimbabwe, the colonial powers left authority firmly in the hands of settlers in both Mauritania and Sudan.Mauritania and South Africa/Namibia are similar in that:-The color divide between the Whites and Blacks is clear in both places. The Arabs in Mauritania call themselves Beydane (Arabic for white) asthe Boers referred to themselves as Blanke. As the Boers claimed historical anteriority in South Africa/Namibia, so theArabs claim that they were the first inhabitants and the only true citizensof Mauritania. In both places the settlers used ruthless methods to gain territorial control through the forced displacement of the natives. Native territories are welcome as integral parts of the nations but the inhabitants of these territories are labeled foreigners. The Bantu Education Act of 1953 in South Africa and Arabisation Acts Nos. 65-025 & 65-026 of 1966 were introduced in order to secure cultural hegemony through the education of docile Black servants.Land Act No. 27 of 1953 in South Africa and Land Act No. 83.127 of 1983 in Mauritania were adopted to give settlers access to and control over the most productive parts of the native lands.Banning and confining Blacks to remote villages is a method used by both regimes, andDivide and rule policies are central in the maintenance of settler hegemony. South Africa/Namibia formed and armed Black vigilante militia whereas Mauritania constituted a Haratin (slave) militia group in 1990 (Africa Confidential, 1989; Amnesty International, 1990, numbering 6,000-8,000; Diallo, 1991b).Mauritania consists of about two million inhabitants; 32 per cent free Black Africans ofFulani, Soninke and Wolof ethnic origins, 28 per cent white Moors of Arab-Berber origin and 40 percent Black slaves known as Abid or Haratan, which apporoximates some 800.000 persons. The power nexus in Sudan and Mauritania has many similarities, being held by an Arabised minority. The slaves belong to the White Moors, who have monopolized the government in the country since the French colonial regime transferred political power to them in 1960. The White Moors have no intention or interest in abolishing slavery, because this may incite the slaves into challenging Moorish supremacy. Because of the massive sexual exploitation of female slaves by White male masters, the slave population has increased to become the largest single ethnic group in the country. Even though slavery was officially abolished on paper in 1960, 1966 and in 1980, slavery and the slave trade are still a living reality in Mauritania. In the cultural clashes between the Moorish regime and free Black Africans, slaves have been used by the regime as a buffer and as death squads against Africans. Slaves have been organized into militia groups, which the authorities in Mauritania have used to massacre and deport Blacks to Senegal and Mali. As in South Africa in the Apartheid days, Black on Black violence is orchestrated. Slaves were recruited as soldiers to fight in the West Sahara War from 1976 to 1979.Enlightened slaves organized themselves and established an emancipation movement called‘El Hor’, meaning freedom. El Hor’s aim is the total abolition of slavery and the adoption of effective and concrete measures to assist slaves to become economically independent. El Hor was able to sensitize international opinion as to the existence of slavery in the country. In order to prevent a slave rebellion in the country, on the 5th July 1980 slavery was abolished and Islamic Sharia law imposed. By virtue of Sharia law masters have a right to compensation for setting their slaves free. However nothing was done to free the slaves in any meaningful sense of the word. The slave masters are the same white Moors who control the state machinery. Emancipation was aborted. In the Mauritanian slave system masters own slave families through generations, as chattels. The Master’s right comes from God and he has the right to sleep with any of the female members of the slave families he owns. The slave cannot go to the Mosque if the master needs him. If the slave tries to escape he will be tortured. If the master takes his slave to, say, Dakar, Senegal or Bamako, Mali, the slave relationship subsists in Dakar or in Bamako. The author recalls, in his youth, in Banjul, Gambia going to shops owned by Mauritanians, the equivalent of Portuguese shops in Namibia, and seeing Black Mauritanians doing the lifting and carrying, overseen by their White Moorish slave owning masters. The question is asked, why is the international community largely silent about slavery in Mauritania ? According to the Mauritanian, Garba Diallo, this is due to :-‘There is little inter-African communication on cultural or political issues. Otherwise, Africans would have realized that the slaveholders consider all Blacks to be either tamed or potential slaves. African complicity/silence in the OAU/AU has been purchased by Arabs, at the expense of those Africans living in the Afro-Arab Borderlands. This problem is a part of the Afro-Arab cultural divide, which ranges from the Sudan on the Red Sea to Mauritania on the Atlantic Coast. This conflict zone has racial origins which have been evident for more than a thousand years. Both African and Arab leaders prefer not to talk about this humiliating and deadly north-south conflict within the south, because this would suggest a lack of solidarity within the Third World. The traditional ‘imperialist North versus exploited poor South’ attitude in international relations could not be sustained. The legacy of trans-Atlantic slavery has left a collective and eternal guilt in the European mind, which makes it difficult for European nations to take a moral stand on condemning Arab slavery in Mauritania. Most European writers who have been to Mauritania belong to the romantics who worship the magic of the desert and its rough and violent social order. This love for the desert and its feudal system helps to preserve the evil system in its racist form ’.B.F.Bankie, former Researcher at the Kush Institution, Juba, South Sudan.

Brandon Brice:
Last Sunday as I sat in the congregation of one of the most prestigious churches in Harlem, it mesmerized me to hear the praises, chats and applauses for President Barack H. Obama, as our nation’s 44th President of the United States. As a black man, it was an incredible moment in history to see someone who shared my same features, living on 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Interestingly, statistics show that a large majority of Americans feel that racism no longer exist, but fail to realize that the real culprit may be economics, not racism. Economics is the study of scarce or limited resources, allowing individuals that understand this study to prosper in this capitalist society.
The problem is that economic practices have not been presented in a positive manner towards the black community, but has been shielded by overtones of racism and bigotry. For example, the concept of statistical discrimination means that a group is being “discriminated” against based on circumstance, not prejudices. In the case of African Americans, or Hispanics not being able to qualify for a loan, this may not just be about race but external factors; for example employment, education, or marital status. In 1996, millions of Americans wanted the opportunity to own a home for the first time, by protesting against unequal practices towards owning a home. Unfortunately, as we witness a financial meltdown, the question regarding America’s creditworthiness was simply avoided, which has directly come back to haunt our financial markets.
Historically, the civil rights era, under activist like; Dr. King, Bayard Rustin, Stokley Carmichael, Malcolm X, Marcus Garvey, Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. Dubois spanned over forty years of fighting for equal opportunity, including economic empowerment, equality and justice. Unfortunately, one of the few tenants that seeped through the cracks of the 1964 civil rights act was the system of Debt. Statistics show that 71% American population have succumbed to debt, which is nothing more than enslavement without the chains. The best practiced solution against debt is to be pro-active in learning about financial literacy and not living above one’s means. In the civil right era, the concept of “the man” dominated the notion that all of black America was constrained by wealthy, white business men, which was simply not true.
On a brighter note, the application of Economics can work for us and historically has worked for us. As African American scholars travel back to the Harlem Renaissance, it’s suggested that 89% of Harlem was owned by African-Americans in the 1930’s; businesses, laundry mats, dry cleaners, banks, churches, real estate, commercial revenue, school buildings, cinema’s, grocery stores and brownstones. What’s interesting about the history’s presentation on the Harlem Renaissance is the lack of discussion on economic empowerment, in comparison to the arts and literature of black poets, artist and musicians....

We need your support! Here are some of the reasons why..
MISSISSIPPI
The epicenter of America’s “legacy of pain”
The time has come for all “good” citizens of the State of Mississippi to take a stand and do what is right. “The Deep South,” the region, far exceeds demonstrative acts of intolerance on its citizens than all other regions combined, in the United States of America. Mississippi’s Delta, where cotton was king, is “the” epicenter of that pain. Here is where we find the “Blues People.”
The Blues People, particularly those in Mississippi, have endured suffering from the moment they were chained and captured in their native land and held in dungeons, in unimaginable conditions, for months and years, before departing on a voyage that would alter their future forever. It was on those voyages that they became Blues People looking for an escape to freedom…some through the salty waters of the Atlantic Ocean, others through bloody revolt and still others through the power of will…willing death into their own captive bodies, so their spirits could soar and return to the place where somebody was singing their name in a song, in a blues song…till it was heard in the sun-soaked cotton fields of the Mississippi Delta!
Oh my Lord, oh my Lord what shall I do, what shall I do?
The beneficiaries of the “legacy of pain” i.e., Mississippi and the United States of America must do what is true, just and right…they shall apologize, if only for the following:
• For the over five hundred “documented” lynching deaths of African American (Black) people that make Mississippi the most egregious of all offenders in the United States of America.
• For all those years of torment and torture in the cotton fields of the Mississippi Delta, not to mention the legal disregard of the pain suffered by people in the United States of America.
• For not allowing any African American (Black) people onto the rescue canoes, during the 1927 flood, and for reverting back to a slave-master mindset, when presented with a clear opportunity to respect the dignity and life of all flood victims, who were rightful citizens of good standing in the United States of America.
• For the death of Emmitt Till, which launched the Human/Civil Rights Movement, throughout the United States of America.
• For not ratifying the “Anti-Slavery” bill until 1985, making Mississippi the last state in the United States of America to legally acknowledge the system of slavery was over.
• For the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in the United States of America.
• For consistently having the worst statistics regarding health and education; and, for putting young children off school buses (along roadsides) and out of school houses (in the middle of a school day) in 2008, who were proudly acknowledging the historic accomplishments of President-elect Barack Obama in the United States of America.
Can we humane and good citizens of THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA remain silent and inactive when such things are continuously being done in our name? It is our duty to humanity…is Mississippi less binding than those in other places? Lawmakers know it is a well-established principle that every wrong has a remedy. Herein rests our Nation’s respect for law.
…What shall we do…?
Mississippi’s therapy and racial healing begins like any other…with an apology…and ends with you. Take personal responsibility for the process of learning the true and persistent pain of Blues People; and, the realization for potential greatness that awaits us…
