“Space does not permit the citing of all the many examples of the utter hypocrisy of the white Communists which show the vast gulf between what they say and what they do.”--Manning Johnson, Author“Color, Communism & Common Sense” It has been said that to understand today, one must be a student of the history of yesterday. History does have a habit of repeating itself. It has also spawned a saying, which is best summarized in the following manner: “Those who do not learn from history are doo

The Manhood Line: The Gold Files By Mike Ramey

First, let me thank the publications, publishers, editors and—most importantly—the readers of “The Manhood Line” over these many years.  It has been a joy to put this column out (the flagship column for Barnstorm Communications International, by the way).  God has blessed this column to go from my home city of Indianapolis, Indiana around the world and back.  It has visited a variety of HBCUs and other college campuses. It has hit Tokyo, Japan.  It sipped tea in Rome, Italy.  It made its s

Racism Exploits White Racists Too

I know white racists hate blacks. They hate me because I am black. But, I don’t hate them. To do that would spread hate and I sure would not want to do that. Such a response to hate with hate would be retaliation and I do not believe in retaliation. Retaliation is one of the curses of our present culture of which I write in three of  my books, “Boycott Money And Save Your Soul – Launching the Goodwill Revolution”, “Leave The Rat Race To The Rats” and “A Jamaica Poor No More”.  In the Goodwill Re

Niger Delta people will, for a long time, remain wholeheartedly grateful to President Muhammadu Buhari, for the immense goodwill he has shown to the good people of the Oil rich but beleaguered region, through the various projects and programmes aimed at the total development and emancipation of the Niger Delta region. We must acknowledge the concerted effort towards the completion of the East-West highway, the reintroduction of the Petroleum industry Bill (P.I.B) to the National Assembly, the co

“Socialism: The Real History From Plato To The Present”

While there have been many lengthy discussions on the dangers associated with socialism, the number of easy-to-read historical reference books on the issue which may be taught to our young people have been hard to come

Victor Okame a beneficiary of the Presidential Amnesty, has expressed dismay over how the beneficiaries are being treated amongst other issues raised by him in statement titled and sub-titled “Gen. Monguno’s Private Experiment” and “The thoughts of a law-abiding Amnesty Beneficiary”

According to him, “The emergence of Col. Miland Dikio gave us great expectations. We believed something fresh was coming our way. Little did we know that we might be joining another round of politics 101?”

The Ramey Commentaries (TM) By Mike Ramey

One of my favorite illustrations of the divorce issue rests in the plight of an elected official years ago.  This lawmaker was a ‘tough guy’ on the issue of child support.  He bucked and stomped in our Indiana Statehouse, calling for toughened penalties against those men and women who were involved with the system.  When non-custodial parents would come to the statehouse to express their views on the unfairness of the laws that lawmakers created, he objected the loudest.

“God’s children run home when the storm comes on.”

--Charles Haddon Spurgeon

Here is an absolute of life:  God allows rain to fall on the just and the unjust (Matthew 5:45 KJV).  To be a card-carrying member of the human race means that bad times and bad things are going to happen to each of us, simply because of the fallen condition of man.  The difference between the Christian and the unbeliever?  The Christian has God to lean upon.  The unbeliever—no matter how talented or resourceful--do

Barbados PM Mea Mottley is the best

To quote from my recent book, A Jamaica Poor No More:

“We have been conditioned to look upon the rich powerful countries as models. Why should these rich powerful countries be the model for the world with their history of slavery, colonialism, imperialism, hundreds of thousands of innocent people killed by their wars, their slaughter and dispossession of  indigenous people all over the world. In God’s name, why?

Forget them. Let us be different. In the words of Afro-American author Alice Walker,

Before we get into the last part of this series, I wanted to inject a few things which surfaced before I made the decision of putting this column to bed and shipping it out.

I happened to have a conversation with a veteran Minister whom I have a lot of respect.  His attitude towards Ministers and regular Christians being involved in politics?  Not very supportive.  He believes that Christians in general, and Ministers (Pastors included) should stay out of the political arena.  Yes, we s

The Ramey Commentaries (TM) By Mike Ramey

There is such non-stop silliness happening in our current society that I wanted to retreat to a simpler time of writing.  Back in the days of in-person school when the children first got back from their vacation they had to share—in essay form--with their teacher and classmates what they had experienced (and hopefully learned) during their time off.

Of course, with much of society growling and snapping at each other like the counselors and the waiters from the classic tune “Hello Mudd

REFUSING THE VERY APPEARANCE OF EVIL

“Abstain from all appearance of evil.”

--I Thessalonians 5:22 KJV

A few years back I had a sit-down with a veteran cop who had lots of experience when it came to fighting gang crime.  One of the things that surfaced during our conversation was the fact that gang bangers had taken to setting up ‘front’ businesses in our city through which to funnel and launder cash and stolen merchandise.  Businesses from laundromats to barber shops and beauty parlors were

“Character Building”

The Bible.  Hard work.  Thrift.  Community investment.  Education.  Business building by men and women.  These might ‘seem’ like modern innovations.  However, if one knows their history, these items—and more—were the ‘norm’ in the old South after the Civil War and Reconstruction Era.  They were proclaimed by many b

“I’m convinced that millions of people today don’t know the Lord because of the long faced, poor, suffering little me, self-sacrificing, tell-everybody-all-their-troubles Christians who act like their second birth was just as painful to them as their first one was to their mothers.”

“Prayer is far too often the LAST thing that people—even those who know better—bother to try!”

--Pastor Chuck Smith

IF one wants to be successful in home, business, or the workplace, they must read and heed the rule book.  For those who claim the name of Christian, our rule book is the KJV Bible.  Whatever paperwork and manuals come AFTER the Bible may have rules attached to them and are merely meant to fall into line with the materials already outlined in the Scriptures.  IF one does not h

“You ask his protection, but how can you expect it if you are not agreed with him?”

--Charles Haddon Spurgeon

In one of my favorite comic strips, a boy and his father were having their typical argument over spending money.  The boy expected his father to serve as his personal ATM machine; the father insisted that the boy did his chores around the house to earn his spending cash.  Keep in mind that this boy went to church every Sunday with his family.
