3828565797?profile=original [by Dr. Ron Daniels] Each year during the Fourth of July holiday season, I inevitably turn my attention to Frederick Douglass’ extraordinary July 5, 1852 oration in Rochester, New York in which he denounced the hypocrisy of a nation that celebrated its “independence” while millions of sons and daughters of Africa were held in bondage as slaves. He declared: “What to the American slave is your Fourth of July? I answer: A day that reveals to him more than all other days in the year, the gross inj

Happy 4th, but how can I be happy when

Waving American flags, the citizens of Murietta, California  turned back buses carrying undocumented immigrants to a center for processing because the centers in Texas was full and in deplorable conditions. The undocumented immigrants were children who had desperately taken a hazardous  journey all the way from Central America and had been detained in Texas under the most deplorable conditions. Transporting them away from there was virtually an act of mercy.

Have you ever felt guilty for saying ‘NO’ to your son when he’s asked for something that he did

Roosevelt outlined four freedoms that every person in the world ought to enjoy, including some from the very first amendment of the Constitution: freedom of speech, freedom of worship, freedom from want, and freedom from fear.

A new poll, released today by Heart+Mind Strategies, asked Americans if we as a country a

3828565813?profile=originalOn June 30, a divided Supreme Court ruled that if a “closely-held” (family-run) company chooses not to cover contraceptives it is legally okay, and just tough luck for their female employees. With Orwellian reasoning, 5 out of 9 justices stated that the freedom of religion of these companies and bosses is more compelling than women’s healthcare and right to decide when, or if, to have children. This depravity towards women is a reflection of the on-going rightward turn in U.S. politics.

[by Peter Williamson] As an Executive Business Coach and successful business owner, I work with entrepreneurs on a daily basis. Much of what I focus on deals with the 5 levels of the Entrepreneur Ladder as a starting point to help business owners gain a better understanding of the fundamentals that distinguish extraordinary entrepreneurs from just ordinary ones.

While each business owner has traits that are unique, there are certain traits all entrepreneurs must have in order to be successful.

In other words, solutions require thinking that transcends the mindset which caused and/or contributes to undesirable conditions. Using this premise to examine racism in America, the question becomes: To what origin is modern racism anchored and how can existing bounds of thought be transcended for new national discourse to redress the causes and conditions?
