As Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel announces new summer police deployment in an effort to stop and increase in Chicago summer crime on the south and westsides, I would hope that The Mayor will recognize that NO AMOUNT of police deployment in Chicago can address the desperate economic conditions at the root of street tensions that draw inner city residents into crime, and MUST back more police deployment with more access to legitimate job opportunities.
