The Los Angeles Black Book Expo Presents Its First Annual Scholarship to Deserving Students

The L.A. Black Book Expo is raising funds for the 2014 LABBX Scholarship. The scholarship committee is asking for churches, organizations, schools and groups to host brief speaking engagements where they may come in and discuss the importance of supporting African-American youth cover the cost of books as they begin their college careers. The average cost of books for a first year college student, enrolled full-time, can range from $750-$1,000. Without books, college success can be just out of reach.
LABBX will host an awards dinner to honor the applicants and the winner of the scholarship the last week of July (date and details TBA).
