    On Monday, April 4, 2022, the People’s Organization for Progress will host ‘The Million People’s March for Voting Rights’ to mark the 54th anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

              Participants will march from the Lincoln Monument, 12 Springfield Av Newark.

              The march will take place at 5pm

              There will be a press conference at 4pm.

              Organizers are calling for the march in the spirit of the epic Million Man March, the country’s largest national mobilization of its kind, and in the spirit of its own Million People’s March Against Police Brutality in 2015, a march that drew thousands of participants from all over the northeastern seaboard and was called Newark’s largest protest march at the time.

Participants include Prof. Kelly Harris, Chair of Seton Hall University’s Africana Studies Program`, Prof. Todd Burroughs co-editor of A Lie Of Reinvention:Correcting Manning Marable’s Malcolm X, poet organizer Zayid Muhammad of the Malcolm X Commemoration Committee, and Prof. emeritus William Sales, author of the critically acclaimed From Civil Rights To Black Liberation: Malcolm X And The Organization Of AfroAmerican Unity.

Learn Ghana Traditional dance with AFRIMUDA dance instructors who will provide you the skills and experience to become proficient in dance techniques with easy movements in multiple dances such as Tokpei, Kpatsa, Obolo, Bima and more!

    We have designed courses to suit every level. There are courses for beginners, courses for intermediary level and courses for advance level.

    In the continued struggle to free Afrikan people from the vestiges of white supremacy and systematic racism, ASCAC's Eastern Region will be hosting its annual conference on Saturday, October 16, 2021 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm eastern standard time. The theme is the following: "LIBERATING OUR HEARTS AND MINDS THROUGH THE WISDOM OF OUR ANCESTORS: BUILDING FOR ETERNITY." ASCAC's Eastern Regional Conference will fall on a historic day in the struggle for Black liberation. Twenty-six years ago, on October 16, 1995, the largest gathering of Afrikan people took place in the history of America. It was called the Million Man March. The event was organized by the leader of the Nation of Islam-the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan.

    On Friday, October 8th, Lawrence Hamm, the founding chairman of the People’s Organization for Progress, will begin what he is calling ‘The Long March for Justice: For Police Accountability, Social Justice And Economic Progress.’

              Hamm, a decorated long distance runner in high school who has also run several marathons in the 90s, will march from Montclair to Trenton, a 67 mile trek for each of his 67 years.

              The march will begin at11am at the intersection of Church Street and Bloomfield Avenue in Montclair. He expects to reach Trenton on Saturday, October 16th.

              The March was originally going to begin on October 11th.

              The march will call for a broad range of reforms ranging from police reform to federal voting rights protections to a $15 minimum wage and beyond. The passage of key police reform bills, led by the Civilian Review Board Bill A4656 put forward by Assemblywoman Angela McKnight mandating strong civilian review boards for any community who
