Even as I disembarked the subway to join the March For Justice in Washington DC on Saturday December 13 2014, I was surprised by my overwhelming feeling of deep sadness. As I joined the thousands on Pennsylvania Avenue, I just could not shake it. I felt too sad to even join the chants of “No justice, No Peace”, nor raise my hands to ”Hands up, Don’t shoot!” I just could not help thinking of tragedy of those victims of police killings. I was haunted by the videos of the killings. Tamir Rice was

Contrary to the refrain from the tragic Ferguson, Mo., shooting of Michael Brown, we know that keeping your hands up does not mean you will not be shot. Assata Shakur had her hands up when she was shot on the New Jersey turnpike by a State Trooper, Oscar Grant was laying face down on a subway platform when he was shot in the back by a Bay Area Transit cop, Sean Bell was executed in a hail of bullets by a half dozen N.Y. city cops while sitting in a car, and Trayvon Martin fought to defend himsel

EPIC FAIL: Sharpton March on Washington Probably Won't Address Jobs or Freedom - Making It Nothing like the 1963 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Event Sharpton Seeks to Mimic
Washington, DC - Members of the Project 21 black leadership network are criticizing Al Sharpton's planned weekend protest in Washington, D.C., saying the protest likely will do nothing but stir up tension while the root causes of high crime and low hope in black communities go unaddressed.
On December 13, Sharpton plans to bring
Some people would call the demonstrators and those in support of them radical and trouble makers, but that would not at all be the truth. Blacks have been a restrained and a controlled people in these lands and in all the lands that took Slaves to build their empires. And since the end of Slavery, descendants of Slaves have endured pain and suffering, cruelty and endless racist acts that have been covered up or rendered nonexistent, and have been left out of the equal distribution of wealth.
Do you believe that the political unification of the African States is a matter of utmost urgency for Africans on the continent and in the Diaspora?
Do you agree with Kwamé Nkrumah when he stated that; "It is clear that we must find an African solution to our problems, and that this can only be found in African unity. Divided we are weak; united, Africa could become one of the greatest forces for good in the world"?
Are you sick and tired of watching Africans being helpless when faced with natural
Black Greek Organizations Must Wake Up and Help Solve Our Problems by Charles E. Campbell, MSW, CEO 12/5/14 Self-hatred, masked by a pretense of unity is a huge problems with Black Greek Organizations, who are sleeping giants. They are afraid of their own potential and keep selecting weak leadership that lacks the moral courage to stop hiding behind 100 year old Mandated Programs that solve no real issues within the Black African American Community. More Black Greek Members are non-financial and
[*By Jumasa Kofi Sankofa] The election of Barak Obama to the presidency of the United States is a defining moment in the history of this country. It is supposed to signify a post racial America, where a people, despised and degraded as an inferior race, has triumphed over racial oppression. After all, one of them has been elected to the highest and most prestigious office in the land. It is supposed to signify a society’s triumph over its racist foundation, rejecting the tenets of that foundatio
Eric Garner's Death Is Mourned, Big Government Is Blamed for Tragedy ~
“A Man Died over Cigarettes and Tax Revenue” ~
As members of the Project 21 black leadership network mourn the regretful loss of Eric Garner’s life during a confrontation with New York City police officers, they see the root problem in government overreach.
Garner died at least in part from a chokehold administered by a police officer last July after he was accused of selling “loose” untaxed cigarettes outside a New York Ci

Following Michael Brown's tragic death, millions of people across the nation and around the world have focused their attention on unfolding events in Ferguson, both grieving together and making their voices heard.
In recent days, many have been captivated by ongoing developments, anguished emotions, peaceful protests -- and, too often, deeply unfortunate images of unnecessary destruction. And this tragic incident has sparked a necessary, national conversation about the need to ensure trust and

WAR ON THE PEOPLE
by Natalie ~
Police across the United States have declared war on the American people, particularly on Blacks and other minorities. More than one person is shot by the local police on a daily basis, most of them under the age of 20, and most of those shot tending to be unarmed. Many of these victims have been children. The victims have included fathers, mothers, children leaving birthday parties to go home, people on their wedding day preparing to be married, young parents
The Institute of the Black World 21st Century decries the decision of the Grand Jury in Ferguson not to indict Officer Darren Wilson as yet another in a tragic litany of injustices that is fueling a spirit of resistance, righteous rebellion and movement building across this country; a movement primarily led by young people. We applaud the weeks and months of disciplined training, organizing, demonstrations and protests by young leaders that may well mark the birth of a new movement for social ju

“In the half-century that has passed, gratuitous police violence has spread to the public in general. Today it is not only blacks and Hispanics who experience police brutality. Everyone suffers from it. Being white is no longer a protection. In a recent column, ‘Call the Cops at Your Peril,’ I reported a few of the recent atrocities police have committed aga
As Campaign Director of the Weed Out Hate Initiative, Marc Daniels illuminates the deepest Judaic roots of Dr. Martin Luther King's "Promised Land" and "Mountain Top" rhetoric, for helping community leaders in racially and polarized communities, weed out racism in America. He advocates utilizing existing community garden infrastructures for breaking the cycle of racism, distrust, rage, and hatred at the roots of society its children.
What to the Afrikan born in America is your Thanksgiving Day?
A day whose genesis was born in the misery and pain of the usurped and slaughtered true Natives of this land, mayhem wrought by the hands of the invading savage and bloodthirsty European. The Puritans, the pure satans, who hid their true satanic nature behind zealous religious dogma. Your Thanksgiving Day of blood sacrifice was super-imposed on the indigenous Day of Giving Thanks for a bountiful harvest, as was the custom of every ind
