The #Ferguson Experience

We are living through a time of dichotomies. What's good for you & your family is not necessarily what's good for me & mine. Clearly this is true for Michael Brown, his family and officer Darren Wilson.

As a Divine spirit living a human existence as an African-American mother, I do not know how to talk to my sons about their rights as African-American males in these United States. It is unfortunate that my sons, who have been educated and raised in American schools, and lived a middle class life,

3828569762?profile=originalIt always comes down to this. How selfish, greedy and insensitive can some of these our rulers be? They are parasites feeding fat on the blood of the people, causing untold miseries and are like malignant tumours that just will not go away.

Eight years as a governor of an oil-rich state, with thieving hands in the treasury every day, no visible or beneficial people-oriented development despite the billions allocated to the state each month of eight years, and then wants to head to the Senate, to

nedd_sm.jpg?width=150Activists with the Project 21 black leadership network are critical of just-announced executive action by President Barack Obama to grant amnesty to non-citizens illegally in the United States.

"What President Obama did is reward those who broke our laws. This will only embitter and endanger the citizenry and legal immigrants who are similarly looking for work, just scraping by and worried about their economic future," said Project 21 Archbishop Council Nedd II of St. Alban's Anglican Church. Just that fast another year has whisked by and the holidays are already here. Because this is the time of year when I usually get inundated with calls from organizations, church groups, schools, businesses, youth programs, and individuals looking for items that they can give to their members for the holidays, I’ve decided to do something a little different this year.

3828569578?profile=originalIn anticipation of the calls that I’ll soon be receiving, I’ve put together a special Holiday Fundraiser Package to make it easier

[by AJAMU BARAKA] For the many thousands of tourists who fly into Israel/Palestine every year, landing in the modern Ben-Gurion airport in Tel Aviv marks the beginning of a great adventure in the “holy land.” But for members of the “African Heritage” delegation, flying into Ben-Gurion was fraught with tension and foreboding. Before departing the U.S. on October 27, our delegation rehearsed how we would move and act, role-playing what to say and what to avoid when we would face Israel’s first lin

3828569653?profile=originalNow that the political pundits, analysts and campaign consultants have had their say, I thought it was time to offer a perspective on the debacle suffered by the Democrats during the recent mid-term elections. Let’s get right to it. In the face of a calculated and relentless assault by Republicans on Barack Obama, a President with a dismal approval rating, Democratic candidates panicked and frantically ran away from the President and his/their “record” over the past six years.

The hidden scandal on Scandal

Olivia Pope is the lead character from the mind of Shonda Rhimes as she brought her TV show Scandal to life. By now the show’s ratings and success is well known. The content of the show is also well known so there is no need to build up to my viewpoint. The reason I waited so long to pen this blog is in the above statements.

Olivia Pope is a frightened little Black girl who received a 5-star education and sub-par parental love. Spat out o

3828569639?profile=originalI've come to be known as the first Ebola patient to be treated in the United States -- but I'd prefer to think of myself simply as a family physician.

I was born and raised in Indiana, and trained in family medicine in Texas. I spent the last year living and working as a missionary doctor in a small hospital outside Monrovia, Liberia. So when the Ebola virus came to that country, I was among the first to treat infected patients. And in late July, I contracted the disease.

I quickly came to unde

A letter to ISIS

The ink of insanity

When hearts are cruel dictators and dirty
When thoughts are sinister and greedy
When the obedience is a kinda stupidity
When the logic is buried immediately

When love is stolen on the show of reality
When pets are the inheritance of materiality
When religious motions are the lines of vanity
And when flattering intellectuals lose their sanity

Victims walk on the dream of their killers to see:
Which God commanded you to kill humanity?

 Wow!

That one word sums up my reaction to the midterm election results. This was a total repudiation of the Obama administration, along with the national Democratic Party.

Not only did Republicans take control of the U.S. Senate, they also expanded their margins in the U.S. House of Representatives and among governors.

As usual, most of the post-election analysis has been woefully short of any substance. Yes, Republicans taking over the Senate is major, and yes, increasing numb

The Black Arts Movement (BAM)--the Most Radical Artistic and Literary Movement in American History

I think what Black Arts did was inspire a whole lot of Black people to write. Moreover, there would be no multiculturalism movement without Black Arts. Latinos, Asian Americans, and others all say they began writing as a result of the example of the 1960s. Blacks gave the example that you don't have to assimilate. You could do your own thing, get into your own background, your own history, your own
