As We Build Our Black Nation, there are preparatory steps that must be taken. The REAL Learning Institute, the Free The Land Institute and the MedgarEversville District Council (RBG Coalition) are engaging Ujima to present Re-Defining Black Manhood, a series of symposiums to reshape the image of and thinking of our males.

The American Diabetes Association® (ADA) has joined forces with Garret Davis Productions and the Prince Hall Shriners to bring the production Mama's Girls 2: Sugar Ain't Sweet to the Ray Charles Performing Arts Center at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday, December 8^th. This free, comedic play aims to change the way people think about diabetes prevention and care through entertainment and laughter.

The comedy features a family of five hilarious sisters who come together to take care of their youngest sibling, Baby Girl, after she's diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Together, the family learns about diabetes and how to take charge of their own health.

Mama's Girls 2 raises awareness of the risks, prevention and management associated with diabetes particularly for African American communities. Through laughter, this play teaches families how to support loved ones who have been diagnosed.

The Diasporic Alliance for Cannabis Opportunities (DACO) will host the 2018 Cannabis Opportunities Conference on the theme Seeking Higher Ground and Equity in the Industry at the Temple University Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA on October 19-20, 2018.

The purpose of the conference will be to demystify the profession and culture of the cannabis industry in minority communities of the US and globally in the African diaspora while recreating a narrative of opportunities and restorative justice for the growth of the community in light of the massive shifts and associated stigma of the cannabis industry.

The 10th Anniversary Edition of Congo in Harlem showcases a diverse and absorbing collection of narrative and documentary films in addition to filmmaker Q&A's, musical performances and special panel presentations. During the series, individual tickets are available at the Maysles Cinema box office for a $10 suggested donation. The box office is open 1 hour prior to event start time. Series Pass for $50 is available for purchase here and at the Maysles Cinema box office, and grants access to all screenings and events throughout Congo in Harlem, subject to standard ticket rules and restrictions.
