The Quick Scan by Mike Ramey

HEY KAMALA—WHERE’S THE POLICY, BABY?

Just wanted to throw this into the mix: The second member of ‘The Squad’ this year LOST their seat in Congress.  They were ‘primaried out’ by more moderate Democrats.  The first member of ‘The Squad’ that fell a few months ago was Jamaal Bowman out of New York.  Cori Bush of Missouri lost her congressional seat the other night.  There could be more ‘casualties’ in the primary process, as folks are getting tired of high food, rent, gas, and unemployment rates while their liberal, Democrat congressional representatives are supporting protests against Israel, the flood of illegal aliens over the border, and ridiculous spending for EVs that no one wants.

In short, Black voters are getting tired of Black representatives having more energy for tearing down the Black community than supporting the law-abiding Black people who put them in office.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled column.  Believe me, there IS a tie in with my previous comments.

Back when I was a young, dashing government reporter here in my home city of Indianapolis, Indiana, Jesse Jackson came to town for a campaign swing during his first (or second) run for President of the United States.  Oh, there were the usual ‘fawning’ reporters at the local and national level.  After his initial comments, there was an opportunity for questions.  Jackson seemed to think that since I worked for one of the best known Black owned stations in the Midwest, he was going to get a ‘softball’ question from me.

I hit him in the strike zone with the following: “Rev. Jackson…what are your qualifications for the office of President?”  I didn’t get much of a response, more like he looked at me like I was from another planet.  There was a gasp in the room from many of the reporters on the scene.  By the end of the presser, word had gotten back to the big bosses at my station.  My News Director supported me, and the General Manager supported him.  In THEIR view, it was a question that was in order, and right on time.

Fast forward to this year.  Vice President Kamala Harris wants to be president…but without being questioned on her qualifications or policy positions.  Yes, she IS of color—that color changes from day to day.  She has secured the Democrat party nomination WITHOUT ONE BLACK Primary vote.  She’s been in the White House for the last three-plus years, and she has no ‘recollection’ over what the Biden-Harris administration has been doing.  Harris has put into effect an old Black saying: “When white folks sneeze, Black folks get pneumonia!”

Free stuff for people who don’t legally belong here, and asking Black folk—and others—to pay the freight in the midst of the ‘back alley’ recession that Biden and company have handed to Americans since 2022 seems like poor economic policy to those young people who want to buy a house, and single parents who are working two or three jobs because of the 20 percent inflation rate given to them (and the rest of us) by the Democrat party.

It’s not what Harris is for that is of concern.  It’s what she’s keeping quiet about that should be of concern to Black folk.  Our Black press aren’t pressing Kamala…and the NABJ should be leading the charge for the truth on Kamala rather than giving her a pass.

The Black press—and a lot of Black reporters gave former President Obama a pass—and how did that work out?  Need I remind you of the sodomite ‘color scheme’ that the White House had on his watch?  How’s that ‘same sex’ marriage stuff working out for the Black community?

My motto when I was working the street beat was ‘competence over color’.  That concept was pounded into me from the day I started in the news business.  Throughout history, Black folk have had to be twice as good to get half as far in a culturally diverse society which prides itself on being ‘a melting pot’ but can turn cold as ice if you don’t have what it takes in the way of credentials and competence to go for the job or start your own business.

As the political season heads to early voting, Harris and company will try to ‘slide’ right by the Black community watchdogs of the press—and thinks she will have an easy time of it.  My suggestion?  Black people let’s get back to basics.  Don’t bother to send her campaign an e-mail.

As we ALL know, e-mails are soooooooooooo easy to ignore.

Spend the money for a postage stamp (before the next price hike, thank you Biden administration), and send VP Harris a letter with ONE question: “What are YOU gonna do to take the Biden-Harris boot off of the Black Community?”  Going to our churches WON'T help you!

IF she gets enough mail, she won’t be able to laugh it off.  Better yet, make it TWO questions as you ask her the following: “Where’s your policy to HELP us…and not continue to HURT us?”

Two members of ‘The Squad’ found out the hard way that the same people who put you in, can put you out.  Could it be a chilly November for the Harris-Walz ticket?  Only the voters know for sure.  Here’s a hint: if THEY win, it will be chilly for the entire country come January 2025.

Let me end with this little ditty:

Why, oh why, is the price of everything so high?

     Must be…Kamalaflation…

      Hey Kamala…Where’s the policy, Baby?
