The Quick Scan by Mike Ramey

WHERE THEY GONNA GO—NOW?

Interesting fact that has escaped ‘lifelong, hard-core’ Democrats during our recent social upheavals in Democrat-run cities: “Where are your children and grandchildren going to go in order to get their first job?”  Please allow me to take a brief trip down memory lane to outline what jobs have either disappeared for teens, or—thanks to liberals—have gone the way of manual typewriters.

Time was that a young man (or a young lady) could get a job as a newspaper carrier, complete with collection book and bag with the name of the Daily newspaper.  Whoops—forget this!  Those days are gone.  First, it was ‘decreed’ by many a newspaper that teens and pre-teens couldn’t be trusted to do the job that their fathers—and in some cases grandfathers—did with pride in their youth.  Liberals held that adults were ‘better suited’ for the job.  Then, with the rise of the Internet, you don’t need to have your paper delivered by hand anymore—so scratch many of those jobs.

Opening a lemonade stand?  Great way to learn how to run your own business and for a child and their friends to earn some spending money.  Whoops—forget this!  The Nanny State—through many city agencies and police officers have decreed that Jimmy or Johnny can’t do this—even with the proper permits.  Do a quick social media search of cases where young people got hassled or busted by some ‘Karen’ who got mad because THEIR child couldn’t hack this job.

Working in fast food?  Whoops—forget this!  More and more fast-food joints are hiring illegal aliens—even in urban areas—OVER high school and college students. Thank the Democrats for the illegal alien surges for the last several years.   Teens going door to door to cut lawns? Whoops—forget this! Illegals have undercut the market for such services and have been crisscrossing many a city with mowers, blowers, and rakes.  BTW—they have gotten better at organization.  Working at the Mall after school or on weekend?  The Malls that are open have more and more vacant stores—and more and more illegals behind the counter.  You can thank the Democrats for this.  Working part time retail for high school or college students?  Whoops—forget this!  Because of the crime waves in Blue (Democrat) cities, more and more big box retailers are closing up shop and heading for places where law and order are in fashion.  Now—if the truth be told--many of these lib retailers have not repented from being woke…but they ARE going broke, and extra seasonal hiring is being limited.

The light of day is starting to break.  The Mayor of Dallas, Texas recently switched from Democrat to Republican?  Why?  Simple.  Illegal aliens, lack of law enforcement and boarded up downtowns are part of the answer.  You can’t get tax revenue from empty buildings, and you can’t raise taxes on people who are leaving town faster than moving vans.  Any other Blue city Mayors willing to clean up the crime to help young people get their first job instead of ‘hanging out’ in a mob?  The ballot box may soon have some amazing results—along with the population counts of many a Democrat-run city.
