Davis, CA. Black History Month is often seen as a time to reflect back and look at the accomplishments and progress that have been made by African-American’s. While it’s important to look back, it’s also important to look forward and take into consideration the things that continue to affect black communities on a daily basis. Last week, I criticized President Obama for his anemic, voiceless, almost whispered response to the tragic death of Hadiya Pendleton. She was a 15-year-old honor student who was shot and killed in Chicago two weeks ago after having performed at Obama’s inauguration.
