Again the vines orchards
Amtrak to the valley
hesitation fear
the love the hate
return to old battlefield for righteousness justice
battle I didn't need to fight
death of warriors who battled beside me
Pat and Barbara, mothers who blessed me
disciplined children
never raised my voice with them, ever
never whipped them
wives now gone from my life
girlfriends growing fat like myself
insane from valley heat

Social scientists and policy makers have long understood the harmful effects that living in high poverty neighborhoods can have on children and adults. Numerous studies underscore the links between neighborhood disadvantage and a host of social problems, including high school dropout, infant mortality, cognitive difficulties, teenage childbearing and exposure to violence.

These studies show that families living in high poverty neighborhoods face burdens beyond th

While Django Unchained is stirring controversy, Steven Spielberg's movie Lincoln, has unchained the Legend of Lincoln to new mythic heights, without due challenge. Just as organizations like the NAACP denounced conservative-revisionist textbooks in Texas in 2010, they should denounce liberal-bent historical accounts that either ignorantly or deliberately fail to concede that "Abraham Lincoln did the right thing for the wrong reasons." Or as Lerone Bennett aptly conveyed in the title of his book,

THE NEWS AIN’T GOOD!

THE NEWS AIN'T GOOD!

As usual the television in my bedroom is on all night with the exception of GOD’s Holy Sabbath of Complete REST.  And this morning I awoke to the news about the President of Syria hitting his own countrymen with a missile as they stood in a queue waiting to buy bread.  The feelings I experienced watching and hearing people yelling out in pain and in horror were awful.  What I saw was horrible.

I remember calling on the CREATOR to RETURN to HIS Place to end this death and dest

As I was waiting in line behind an older gentleman at Wendy's recently, I heard him ask for his senior discount. The girl at the register apologized and charged him less. When I asked the man what the discount was, he told me that seniors over age 55 gets 10% off everything on the menu, every day.
Being of 'that' age myself, I figured I might as well ask for the discount too.

This incident prompted me to do some research, and I came across a list of restaurants, supermarkets, department stores, t

Egypt and Politics of the Arab Spring

Egypt and the Politics of the Arab Spring

As we look at events in Egypt from afar, we see a people struggling to regain their humanity after decades of political oppression, partly due to the former regime's association with the Great Satan America and her imp Israel. The new regime headed by the Muslim Brotherhood is naturally eager to see its long fought goals implemented, even though these goals may be anathema to the secularists, and most certainly to the remnants of the old regime. We have n

By Chinta Strausberg

The shooting spree allegedly by Adam Lanza, 20, who mowed down 20 children and 6 adults at a Newtown, Connecticut school was called “Satanic” by Rev. James Sims, pastor of the Outreach Church in Harvey, Illinois.
