The Ramey Commentaries by Mike Ramey

THE ‘MONDAYS COUNTDOWN’ HAS BEGUN
“Pharaoh told the Hebrews to make bricks without straw. Democrat Mayors and Governors are telling law-abiding citizens to make cities--without cops.”

In one of the old “RoboCop” movies, Murphy had his programming ‘supplemented’ by a group of social do-gooders; social workers, teachers, and other such soft-on-crime ilk. The powers-that-be wanted a ‘kinder, gentler’ RoboCop. Unfortunately, Murphy’s programming was so ‘jacked up’ that he had forgotten his original mission--to fight crime. IF you recall, it took a mega-dose of electricity to deliver the shock to his system to purge out all of the bad programming and get him back to crime fighting form. Like it or not, there IS evil in the world. Cops are our Blue Knights.

Being one who has carried a variety of badges during my career, I got to spend a lot of time around cops. I worked with many good cops, and a few bad ones. Just like good preachers hate to be around bad preachers; good cops hate to be around bad cops.

So, in light of the call by the mob AND Democrat politicians to defund and/or disband police departments in a variety of U.S. Cities--possibly including mine--I’d like to let all of us in on a variety of little secrets. Some of them are obvious. Some of them are not. Of course, I won’t be able to list all of them…but more than enough to cause folks to start pounding on those weak politicians who are dumb enough to suggest and go along with this defunding idea in a quest to maintain political power. Hopefully, the law-abiding will get off their butts, get to the polls, and do their jobs at the ballot box.

A LAW ENFORCEMENT TRADITION:
Just as soon as I heard this idiocy of defunding the police, I could ALSO hear the soft shuffling of papers, the tapping of keys, and the scratching of pens on police retirement and transfer forms.

The ‘Mondays Countdown’ has begun.

Calendars are being marked by the hundreds by cops in Democrat cities and states. Veteran cops are not going to lose sleep over the antics of City Hall! They are quietly putting in their retirement/transfer papers, and are starting the countdown to either transfer to another law enforcement agency far away from their present location, or, moving up their retirement date from their present agency.

Believe me…there are already PLENTY of police departments in better locations that are sending out the ‘feelers’ and emails to many a cop in many of these riot-torn cities. There ARE churches who are praying for their police, and make them welcome.
Here’s an interesting ‘side note’ to this phenomena. As veteran officers retire, departments ‘hope’ to ‘take up the slack’ by recruiting and training new officers.

No such luck. Those recruits who may have had a desire to enter police work will likely--after witnessing the riots, mayhem and lack of political support on their TV and social media screens--move to another location where the politicians support the police, or, will move into the fields that are more supportive of law enforcers. A few that come to mind are Parole, Probation, Private Security, or the classroom to teach .

In a nutshell, many urban police departments are going to lose veteran officers at one end of the spectrum, and won’t be able to recruit new officers at the other. Furthermore, it will ONLY be a mater of time before other first responders will move out of urban areas to greener, safer pastures. Cops have families too.

FORGET DOWNTOWN CONVENTIONS:
There are other items on the block that have not seen the light of thought in the mainstream mess. The rent-a-mobs will return to THEIR cities, and they will NOT like what their cities will look like. For example, how many politicians and celebrities--you know, the ones who ‘took a knee’ for the cameras--are going to be willing to do without their OWN security guards? Local cops provide security for local politicians. No cops on the street may NOT mean that Democrat Mayors and Governors will do away with their OWN security details…but it should! If the taxpayer can’t count on public safety, why should elected officials get away with such a perk?

But wait, there’s more!

My home city of Indianapolis, Indiana prides itself on having a strong Downtown Conventions industry which brings in millions to the city coffers. Unfortunately, with the riots and protests that have been viewed, how many conventions will be willing to come to our--or other cities--if their memberships won’t have proper law enforcement protection? Parents…would YOU let your teenager go to a major convention and stay in downtown hotels in cities with weakened or non-existent police forces? I think not!

FALLING DOMINOES OF MAJOR DOWNTOWN RETAILERS:
Let me put this card on the table. The last few decades have been seeing a powerful uptick in services and amenities being built around downtown areas to cater to Millennials and other such young, upwardly mobile workers--many of them in the high tech sector. Of course, without cops, the ‘utopia of the downtown’ will dry up--unless one is willing to pay extra fees for armed private security. Many of the downtown rebuilds were funded by ‘tax abatements’, meaning that the government ‘waived’ or ‘suspended’ the taxes to ‘lure’ businesses downtown.

The rioters and protesters have also succeeded in driving major retailers OUT of the downtown area, after local governments--again, with tax abatements--took some three or more decades to bring them in. The store closing lists have already begun circulation. The jobs that these businesses brought in will be moving to the suburban and rural areas, along with the closing of smaller support businesses--and cutting off of public transportation services. Oh, and count on seeing increased prices from remaining retailers and businesses. More products under plastic WITH private security--including the installation of more anti-looting gear to protect their stores.

THE BIGGEST, UNSEEN DOWNTURN OF ALL:
Racism is a sin, pure and simple. Covering for bad cops is a sin, pure and simple. Protesting is a constitutionally protected right. Rioting is a sin, pure and simple. Anarchy--doing what one ‘feels’ is right to overthrow a duly elected government--is a sin, pure and simple. Playing favorites in the street--holding some deaths as ‘righteous’ while others are ‘ignored’ is a sin, pure and simple. Destroying someone’s business ‘for the sake of money, whim or political power’ is a sin, pure and simple. However, Jesus Christ is the sin-buster (Romans 10:9 KJV)!

The biggest unseen downturn in all of the unfunding drama? Urban churches.

Older church members are the lifeblood of many an urban church. Picture this: Reduced levels of law enforcement mean that older members won’t be attending many evening, night or weekend events unless they feel safe. Security costs will rise--an expense many urban churches won’t be able to afford. Add to the mix the fact that older members have already started moving to churches in outlying areas, or stopped attending.

Further, churches seeking pastors in urban areas--the ones that are still open--are going to have a harder time securing biblically solid preachers, as the safety of themselves and families--along with community respect--will be a part of the mix. Jesus doesn’t encourage foolishness in His church, nor does He expect His servants to ‘take a vow of poverty’ nor ‘expose themselves to unwarranted dangers’. It’s not that hard for a pastoral candidate to do a web search and ‘see’ whether or not the congregation of a prospective church is sticking to the KJV Bible and fulfilling the Great Commission, or appeasing protesters, rioters and ungodly politicians!

The rent-a-mob has gotten what they wanted. Unfortunately, they are only weeks away from not being satisfied with what they got. At the bottom line, when you call 9-1-1, a social worker or youth program is not going to protect you, your family or your business. It’s that Blue Knight who will be risking their life to keep you safe…IF your city still has a police department, fully funded.

Again, you heard it here first. The ‘Mondays Countdown’ has already begun.
