WHEN LAWMAKERS BREW LAWLESSNESS
A few years back in my home state of Indiana, some Democrat lawmakers decided to ‘move’ to another state (of course, under Democrat control) just so they wouldn’t have to vote on some measures being considered by our legislature. This tactic has been used by other Democrat lawmakers in other states over the years. Of course the tactic didn’t end well. The ‘protests’ soon ended, they came home, the objected-to legislation passed, and all was right in the political world. The sanctions against these wayward Democrat lawmakers were minimal at best, and some of them were re-elected to their jobs by an ignorant electorate.
History is repeating itself, except on the national level.
We’ve lived through four years of high inflation, out-of-control spending, a broken border, Democrat political corruption at the highest levels, wars and rumors of wars, DEI, homosexuality and transgender mayhem et cetera, et cetera. Democrats didn’t feel our pain. Of course, the people spoke loud and clear in November 2024 and re-elected Donald J. Trump as the 47th President. Trump, a Republican, was sworn in on the federally designated Martin Luther King holiday in 2025, and has not enjoyed much peace from his Democrat rivals. Of course, Trump is smiling all the way to getting ALL of his agenda approved, one day at a time.
The more Democrats squeal, protest and scream…the more Trump gets done for the American people.
Yes, Democrats lost the White House, the US Senate and the US House. Now, they are in the process of losing their minds, along with their willing co-horts in the ‘mainstream mess’. Many Democrat Congressmen and Senators are practicing the same bad tactics that not only lost them the levers of power…they are also stirring a ‘witches brew’ of lawlessness.
Think about it, folks. You have elected officials of a major political party who are quite willing and able to be engaged in behavior that—for years—they have accused their rivals of being engaged in. Further, as more and more details come to light about the misdeeds and dirty dealings in the ‘Deep State’ in which many live-long politicians have been ‘wetting their beaks’ like mafia dons—many of the ‘usual suspects’ are Democrats. The public is getting the truth at last.
It is NOT a good look for them…nor for the country. I’ll unpack as to why.
First, God allows people to gain political power for HIS glory. The KJV Bible holds that He will lift up one, and set down another—for good or for ill—on His timetable (Ps. 75:6-7 KJV). Second, those lawmakers who are ‘adept’ at lawbreaking rather than lawmaking are asking for trouble from the Living God in their homes. It is amazing how a wayward lawmaker can become a purveyor of lawlessness and will have the nerve to demand that their children heed their instructions in their home.
I’d like to be a fly on the wall with a TV camera to catch one of their kids talking back!
Third, these marching, chanting and screeching Democrats are not doing their various religions much good…that is, the ones who ‘claim’ to go to church, temple or mosque. It is pretty sad for those Democrats who happen to be Muslim and ‘brag’ about their ‘religion of peace’ are giving Islam a bad rap. Same for those Catholics and Jews and Christians. Many people read other people as their Holy Book. Are those—of either party—who are acting a fool in the public square making their place of worship look good to unbelievers or potential converts? What about the preachers and church members marching lockstep WITH them?
Fourth—and this is critical—the folks ‘back home’ are not proud to see you in ‘the crowd’ chanting and screeching and attempting to bully people to get your way in the political realm. I’ll close with these few verses about what the KJV Bible has to say about your actions from Proverbs, Chapter 30, verses 11-14:
- There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother.
- There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.
- There is a generation , O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up.
- There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.
Lastly—and I’ll wrap this up—those who are Pastors of urban, suburban, and rural churches who beat the drum to ‘get out the early vote’ for this pack of lawless lawmakers ought to do some SERIOUS repenting and study Romans 13, plus the Old Testament advice given to the people of Israel when they rejected God to have a king like the pagan nations. I Samuel, Chapters 8 and 9. The people broke this prophet’s heart. God comforted His man with these words, of which I’ll paraphrase: “Samuel, they did not reject you, they rejected me.”
Share this column with your favorite protesting elected official. Maybe they’ll get the message. Pray for those in authority—even the bad ones. If this doesn’t work, there’s always the next election cycle to correct the errors!
