The Quick Scan by Mike Ramey

Advertising exists to put forth a particular point of view to get the public to believe that something is real enough to get them to invest their money into a pre-manufactured reality.  Thus, companies spend millions of dollars in producing ads that will not only get the attention of the public; these ads—placed as their research indicates—will get the public to ‘believe’ a certain way.  So, when you see a Black man in a commercial advertising fingernail polish, feminine hygiene products, etc., what does this ‘attempt’ to say about Black men?

A few years ago (I’ve been blessed to live life for a while), Black men were portrayed in advertising as ‘Pimps, Players, and Thugs’.  Since we have not invested in ourselves through our own media outlets enough to control our images (like other people of color have) this is what was distributed to other countries around the world (America is the number one exporter of entertainment, worldwide).  Now, the ‘script’ has been flipped with the same objective intact—the further destruction of the Black family by attempting to destroy the Black male image.

Having said all this, let me pick up where I left off in my last column.  If one were to take an objective look at the types of ads, TV shows and social media ‘blips’ that have appeared before the public regarding homosexuality (sodomites) and transvestites (drag queens), since so many of them are Black—the case is being made that Black men are weak; they are ‘likely’ to ‘want’ such dangerous lifestyles.  In short, those who are pushing this ‘toxic agenda’ are trying to attack the image of manhood in general through attacking the image of Black men in particular.

Of course, those of us who know God’s Word; who won’t back down from the godly definition of REAL manhood are held to be out-of-step with the ‘new, satanic world order’.  The righteous are held to be the enemy and the logic of upright manhood is held to be a menace.

Well, so be it.  I’m not ashamed of being on the Lord’s side.

It is tragic that BOTH liberal and conservative media outlets have Black ‘girly men’ in positions of visibility and authority.  It is a SHAME to our ancestors to have young Black men continuing to be deceived into believing that the way to ‘get ahead’ is to wear a pair of step ins, wearing twisties with an earring, and have their nails painted.  It is a fraud to watch Black liberals and conservatives in positions of authority sit silently while these lies flourish.

Brothers, it’s high time that we get back to calling sin, SIN, forsaking it and getting back to the godly standard of manhood.  REAL Black women WILL back our play and support our efforts!  More to come.
