On the weekend of January 17-18 in Philadelphia, PA our Party will be sponsoring the Northeast Regional Organizing Conference at which an overview of the strategic direction of the U.S. front of the worldwide African revolution will be laid out.This conference comes at a time when all over the world struggle is occurring. The people of Afghanistan and Iraq are fighting to throw off imperialist aggression from the U.S. government. Similar struggles are being made throughout Latin America and Asia. And although the struggle against U.S. imperialism is gaining strength, the liberation of Africa is not guaranteed simply because of this motion. Various international forces (including India, China and certain Arab States) are scrambling for a better position to feast on the blood of Africa. The contradiction was laid out clearly by Chairman Omali Yeshitela when he stated, "everyone has a plan for Africa except for Africans." And so we are confronted with the question - what is our plan for Africa?For African people domestically colonized in the imperialist centers of Europe and North America (particularly in the U.S.) - the struggle to liberate Africa from imperialist domination takes on special significance. Places like New York, Washington DC, Houston and LA are strategic nerve centers for U.S. Imperialism - where policies, strategy and institutes (such as AFRICOM) to deepen the oppression and exploitation of African people originate. Often times, these decisions are made within walking distance of places where African people live and work.Meanwhile, domestic policies (most of which are based on the police containment of the African population in these imperialist centers) are imposed on our people throughout the country - as a means of more efficiently exploiting our communities and undermining our ability to get organized in our own interests. It is the State - the prisons, courts, police, etc - that stands between African people and our prosperity.We of the African Peoples Socialist Party believe that there is no more important discussion to have than the discussion about how African people will free ourselves and win power in our own hands. But more than discussion, there is no more important ACTION to partake in than that of liberating ourselves. To do this requires a high level of organization and discipline on our part. This is why we must build one organization to take power and win freedom through a united struggle worldwide - led by the African working class and poor peasantry.Our only hope is to build the African People's Socialist Party - the vanguard revolutionary organization of our African nation. Our Party is equipped with an unbroken history of struggling against the State for power over our own lives and resources. Our history began in 1972 on the back of a vicious military defeat our Movement suffered in the 60's. Since this period, the Party - under the leadership of its founder Chairman Omali Yeshitela has developed a philosophy and system of tactics and strategies for African liberation known as African Internationalism. With this philosophy, our Party has been able to build an international movement that is rapidly spreading throughout Africa.Our most immediate task is to build units (the most basic organizational component of our Party) throughout the U.S. and the world. Through our units the strategic goals and objectives of our Party can be advanced in every neighborhood, prison, factory and campus in which Africans struggle.At the Conference Chairman Omali Yeshitela will be making the keynote statement and also facilitating several of the workshops. There will be workshops on the various programs and organizations that the Party leads - including the International People's Democratic Uhuru Movement, All African People's Development and Empowerment Project and the African Internationalist Student Organization.
