George Edward Tait was born in Oakland, California and raised in Harlem. He graduated from Pace Universityin 1968 with a B.A. in English Language and Literature and a minor in French Language and Literature after being a member of the literary society and The Pace Press.
From 1968-1972, he taught and tutored English at Queens College while conducting Creative Writing workshops.
The year 2010 represented Mr. Tait’s 50thyear as a poet and his 40thyear conducting poetry workshops. In 2011, Mr. Tait was named Poet Laureate of the Black Nationby the Republic of New Afrika.

Suggested reading: 'By Any Means Necessary: Real, Not Reinvented.' This book was complied by Haki R. Madhubuti, Herb Boyd and others as a response to Manning Marable’s controversial biography of Malcolm X. There are many other books about Malcolm, we will be sharing our thoughts about what we have read.
