  • Description: The month of March is a special time for remembering the significant contribution of women to society. As part of International Women’s Month, The Equiano Society and Windrush Foundation in association with Museum in Docklands present a unique weekend event in celebration of NUBIAN WOMEN. Nubia is the homeland of one of Africa's earliest black civilization, with a history that can be traced from about 10,000 B.C. through Nubian monuments and artifacts. In antiquity, Nubia was a land of great natural wealth, of gold mines, ebony, ivory and perfumes. Its glorious history and heritage predate that of Egypt. The main speaker on 21 & 22 March at Museum in Docklands will be a Nubian: Mrs Thanaa Mossa, Deputy Director of Nubia Museum, Aswan, Egypt, and her topic is: Queen Nefertari, wife of Ramesses II.
