  • Yoruba Culture To Take Place in Havana

  • Description: In a press conference on Tuesday, Antonio Castañeda, president of the Yoruba Association of Cuba —the event organizer— said some 45 presentations will be made during the encounter on topics “ranging from spirituality to the most profound roots of our culture,” as quoted by Granma newspaper. He said the gathering will be divided into three general areas which are science, culture and religion and will include concerts featuring folkloric and traditional groups and video clips screenings. Castañeda added that there are 23 Cuban Yoruba associations based outside the country and that the majority of Cubans practice the Yoruba cultural tradition.   • Description: AFRO JAZZ SUNDAYS AN UP OVER JAZZ PRODUCTIONS Afro Jazz Sundays is Brooklyn's newest summer event for live music from African, Caribbean & Latin traditions. Every Sunday at Tamboril Restaurant the sound of Jazz will be mixed with different afro-centric music traditions. On July 20th, Buyu Ambroise Quartet will perform. Tamboril is located in the Clinton Hill section of the borough, near Pratt Institute at 527 Myrtle Avenue.
