HBCU OR NOT HBCU—A RECRUITMENT ISSUE? PART 1

A few years back, I got into a heated discussion with a member of a local organization dedicated to helping young Black men and women to attend the college of their choice.  Keep in mind that this local organization had been ‘discovered’ by the local Caucasian money brokers and were now ‘flush with cash’.  Thus, the group—in my humble opinion—did not have to ‘recruit’ young Black students from the ‘hood’ anymore, meaning urban schools.

SOME NEW DEFINITIONS FOR OUR TIMES

I got a good chuckle over the recent double announcement by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters National Union.  On the one hand, for the first time since 1996, the Teamsters will NOT be endorsing a candidate for President in this 2024 election cycle.  The other half of the announcement could be seen as a major disaster for the Democrats, as the rank-and-file—by a 60 to 31 percent margin—said that they would be voting for Donald Trump this fall.

A SUCCESS PRIMER FOR YOUNG BLACK MEN, PART 10

I am writing this column during the political season.  Politics is something that should interest a young Black man because of the stakes that are involved.  Further, it is wise that you begin to understand the political process of this nation while you are young and of a sober and keen mind.  Black folk helped to build this country and are owed a debt FROM this country in the way of reparations.  Thus, I would advise any young Black man to know

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in Edo State, Asue Ighodalo, on Wednesday received the full backing of leading activists, civil society groups, lawyers, journalists and political leaders from all parts of Edo State.

“Asue Ighodalo is the best man for the job. We’re looking forward to his election”, the professionals said.

They also described the APC governorship candidate as dull, cold and colourless.

JOURNALISM 1-0-WHAT?

The same (legacy) liberal media that calls for others to recuse themselves out of leadership positions for the ‘slightest hint’ of impropriety, turn to the public stone-faced and get indignant when their conflicts of interest are pointed out.  Especially Black liberal members of the press.

After watching the recent debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris on ABC—and within 48 hours of the debate finding out that Harris and ABC Co-Moderator Linsey Davis were Sor

TRY AGAIN!

The only way to overcome failure is to try again!  As one preacher put it: “You may not have been ready for it to happen in your twenties, thirties, or forties.  Success that comes too early would kill you.”  Therefore, God—in His infinite wisdom, grace and mercy may have delayed your success track for your protection.

I mention this topic because of some of the news stories that I have been reading concerning people having problems finding a job.  Of course, we have been i

WHEN DID THEY FIGURE IT OUT?  WILL WE?

As the old saying goes: “When white folks sneeze, Black folk get pneumonia.”  This is a truth concerning economic issues that affect the Black community.  However, there is a new twist on this saying, due to the Democratic National Convention shindig in Chicago recently.  It goes like this: “When white folk LEAVE the Democrat party, why are Black folk still hanging around?”

Let’s cover the body count since the DNC gathering:

     Robert F. Kennedy,

A QUICK REFRESHER: MISS RIGHT VS. MS. WRONG, PART 1

One of the things that catches many single Black Men by surprise is the number of ‘pushy, whiny, confused and dictatorial’ women abounding in our modern society.  Yes, you do need a ‘scorecard’ to sort them out and avoid the bad ones.  About 20 years back I wrote one.  I’ve decided to update it…and release it again, for the brotherhood.  Warning: It is NOT supposed to be ‘politically correct’!

          Miss Right will give a man courage;

Cory Booker and Jamaal Bowman are true heroes for risking political death by speaking up against the Israeli genocide against the Palestinians in Gaza.  AIPAC and other powerful rich pro-Israel lobbies made sure they did not survive their primaries by pouring millions of campaign dollars against them. This has reinforced the intimidation these lobby groups have against any politician that speaks up against this Israeli genocide. So very few speak up. The silence is deafening.

FOR THOSE WHO MAY HAVE TUNED IN LATE…

In case you haven’t noticed, the Modern Street Gang scene has changed, once again—the latest of several changes over the last five years.  For those who may have tuned in late, unless you keep up with the changes that have been taking place in the streets, suites and the media (including the Internet), you’ll be thinking that you are in some strange new universe and gangs no longer exist.  And, your favorite column has been tracking those changes, as t

Oil is a curse to the Niger Delta region - this catchphrase used by most commentators on the environmental catastrophe in the Niger Delta region represents a common phenomenon that is prevalent across regions where natural resource extraction take place. It captures the distressing living conditions of the people who are subjected to agonizing conditions for no just cause other than being born in lands that are naturally endowed. This appalling situation leaves the people in perpetual conflict a

A ‘QUICK TEST’ FOR THE ‘NEW’ 21ST CENTURY MALE

After getting a good look at the men attending the recent ‘Carnival of Destruction’ (otherwise known as the Democratic National Convention) event in Chicago, I MUST say that the ‘ideal male’—at least in the eyes of the lesbians, pro-abortionists, and other ‘alphabet women’ appearing on the liberal leaning networks (which few real Americans bother to watch)—was one who did whatever liberal women wanted them to do.

      Oh yes—lest I forget—the

A SUCCESS PRIMER FOR YOUNG BLACK MEN, PART 9

Here’s a saying that parents have passed down to their sons over the generations: “Get your education, for it is something that society cannot take away from you, once you have it!”  An addendum to this is the following: “You can be excellent in whatever your life’s work will be, provided that you are willing to train for it!”

Going to school on a regular basis, showing up daily for your lessons is a part of the training.

CAN’T HAVE JOY OR VOTING—WITHOUT JESUS!

When you kick God and Jesus Christ out of society (as American has continually been trying to do since the 1950s) why are we ‘shocked’ when those who lead the charge to push them out are dismayed at the bitter fruit of their efforts?  When God and Jesus Christ are pushed out, who comes to fill the vacuum? None other than Satan himself.

The recent gathering of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago had ALL the groups and trappings on displ
