This week, Overstand, the premiere consultancy for advising diverse filmmakers, projects and financial partners will launch The Stand in partnership with Urbanworld Film Festival and Ghetto Film School’s program, The Roster.  The Stand is an intimate consultative financing event that will provide a dynamic platform for investors and filmmakers to benefit from introductory connections, relationship building and knowledge share during the 20th anniversary of the Urbanworld Film Festival.

Overstand has vetted and selected two creative projects and their respective teams featuring scripted project, D-Days, directed by Tamika Guishard and produced by Julius Pryor and Marttise Hill and interactive project, The Art of Dying Young, directed by Shawn Peters and produced by Barry Cole, to pitch to a curated roundtable of industry experts and investors for prospective funding. The filmmaker teams and projects will be reviewed on site by an esteemed panel of investors including Leslie Fields Cruz, Executive Director, National Black Programming Consortium, Loren Hammonds, Programmer, Tribeca Enterprises, Tamir Muhammed, Director, Content & Artist Development, Time Warner/OneFifty, Jacob York, Chancellor, Electric Republic, Yusef Kassim, Managing Director, Blue Harbour Group, LP, and Eliza Licht, Vice President, POV/PBS.
