SMIs—THE NEW FOOLS

      In case you may have tuned in late, there is a new breed (or, maybe not so new breed) of fool that is sweeping social media.  No, I’m not referring to those who get their kicks from following what is posted along the funky electronic frontier.  Whom I am pointing at in my writings for the month are the new fools—otherwise known as ‘Social Media Influencers’.

      Sadly, Social Media Influencers (SMIs) think it cool to act a fool—and are shocked that they are paying such a heavy price for their ignorance.  The Scriptures hold that: “The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God (Psalms 14:1, 53:1 KJV)". Further, in the Book of Proverbs (which is dedicated in providing wisdom for individuals to live life with skill and godly understanding), the subjects of fools and foolishness is hit upon and addressed some 49 times.  Now, I would think that a subject of this size and scope where God has put a big finger upon His Word would attract SMI attention BEFORE they start to click on their keys and shoot their videos.

      Not in the least.  Social Media Influencers think themselves to be of the ‘smart’ crowd.

      Until.

      Until they wind up dead because of their foolishness—which has happened to a number of them over the past few years.  Check online or in your local newspaper.  A wide variety of Social Media Influencers—many of them twenty or thirtysomethings—have paid the ‘slab tab’ because of their foolishness and have ‘moved on’ off this mortal coil into the bowel of Hell in far too many cases.  Why?  Because they didn’t think that ‘fat meat was greasy’.  In other words, they didn’t think that much of God in the first place, mocked Him, and paid a heavy price.

      Then, there are the SMIs that are still alive—but in a lot of hot water.  In my neck of the woods, once Social Media Influencer got a visit from the police because they ‘allegedly’ were touting (online) the locations of certain ‘street parades’.  You know—those institutions where young thugs and associated idiots shut down a street to hold their ‘Wild West’ type parties and road shows which damage street and parking lot surfaces, and virtually hold neighborhood residents hostage—until the cops show up to shut the unauthorized party down.  In another part of the country, a SMI was arrested for ‘bragging’ and ‘live streaming’ young thugs and associated idiots involved in looting stores and shops.  The cops got her, and she had to ‘bond out’.  Yes, she too mocked God.  According to published reports, even her grandmother was ashamed of her!

      It is quite sad to see Black youth involved in such a leap from good sense.  They may be leaping into more than they bargained for—into a place that is hot—and is forever.
