SOME NEW DEFINITIONS FOR OUR TIMES

      I got a good chuckle over the recent double announcement by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters National Union.  On the one hand, for the first time since 1996, the Teamsters will NOT be endorsing a candidate for President in this 2024 election cycle.  The other half of the announcement could be seen as a major disaster for the Democrats, as the rank-and-file—by a 60 to 31 percent margin—said that they would be voting for Donald Trump this fall.

      Add to this fact that many Teamster locals across the country have allegedly endorsed Trump by a wide margin.  Why?  Well, according to Trump, during his days as a builder and developer, he used the Teamsters in many of his building projects.  What has VP Kamala Harris built with a Teamster local besides having a D for Democrat after her name?  Not much including NO goodwill with that union—or others, as their non-endorsements ‘trickle out’ through the ‘mainstream mess’.

      The Teamsters rank-and-file defined the undefinable when it comes to Harris.  They defined her campaign’s slogan of ‘JOY’—which is an acronym for ‘Just Oppressing You’!  Under the presidency of Joe Biden, union workers have lost a lot of financial ground; under a Harris presidency, the losses would be worse—if not downright oppressive.

      Not hating, just stating.

      If you have been a fan of my column for any length of time, I’m sure that you’ve heard of my definition of WOKE—which is Weirdly Obsessing Kooks and Evildoers!  That word was easy to define, as the carnage was huge.  Tie WOKE to Cancel Culture and you can easily see how the definition fits.  Now we have some more ‘new’ acronyms up for definition.  For example, there is BDS—which stands for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions.  This is a reference of what those who are against Israel want those to do who support Israel. BDS actually means Bury, Destroy and Silence those who support the nation of Israel.

      It just seems that these ‘catchphrases’ of the new century define themselves over time.

      What about DEI, which is the ‘new’ buzzword for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion?  In its original form it suggests that the workplace should be staffed with those who are of a broad racial, gender and sexual background.  Unfortunately, competence is not included in the mix.  Therefore, I define the letters as meaning Destroying Every Institution.  It seems that every sector DEI has touched is losing money, employees, and market share.

      Last one: ‘Sanctuary City’.  It means that illegal aliens can make their way to it and live in it without fear of arrest.  Plus, as a bonus, those legitimate citizens—aka taxpayers—can be forced by the Democrat-controlled local (or state) government to pay, pay, pay for those goodies that can be used to ‘bless’ illegals enough to vote for the Democrats in charge for ever, and ever!  Of course, in my dictionary, the new definition would be for those taxpayers who may be tired of their present arrangement to MOVE to Republican-controlled cities to discover true sanctuary for their wallets—and families!
