The Quick Scan by Mike Ramey

FROM WEAKNESS TO WEAKNESS

Early in 2023, the damage from the pandemic and ‘shutting down’ of public education for the last few years was exposed to the public for the very first time.  The under-education of Black youth in major, Democrat-controlled cities across America became apparent.  What is truly sad is that the funding of public school teachers—and their unions—reached astronomical levels because of two words: “Covid Money”.  Unfortunately, the watchdog mechanisms built to keep an eye on where the money was going failed.

One published report had the head of one California-based Teacher’s Union caught—on camera—taking HIS child to a private school, while the public school system where his union ruled with an iron fist was closed.  In another published report, in another part of the country, off work schoolteachers decided to hold private, ‘joint’ in person education sessions for THEIR children (at undisclosed locations) while the children (and parents) from whom they received their paychecks were relegated to video learning…or no learning at all.

We used to be a nation that had an education system that progressed ‘from strength to strength’.  Instead, we are stumbling ‘from weakness to weakness’.  Yes, we have heard of these problems in public schools for YEARS.  Yet the very ones who are the most likely to cause the problem—the teachers—have no skin in the game.  Because of the exclusion of God, the Bible, and common sense our classrooms have backslidden to third-world status.  Meanwhile, countries such as Japan, Africa, England, India and, yes, China, have not fallen victim to the ‘woke’ culture (weirdly obsessing kooks and evildoers) eagerly gobbled up by our public schools.

The issue thus becomes do we want to solve the problem or continue throwing money at it and enable it to continue.  If one wants to solve the matter of mis-education of Black children, how about making teachers share the same ‘slave ship’ that American public education has become.  Pass a law mandating that IF you teach in a public school district, your children (if you have them) MUST attend the district where you are drawing a check.

The dirty little secret (DLS) of American public schools is that teachers do NOT have to send their kids to the same failing schools where they draw their pay.  Teachers currently send their children to private, parochial or suburban districts (where the education opportunities were better for THEIR children) and they would continue to draw massive salaries to mis-teach urban kids (future competition for THEIR children).  Of course, such a ‘home district’ law would have to be passed state-by-state.  There would be hollering and screaming, but there would eventually be better public schools for the simple reason that teachers would have their kids in the same classrom as ours.
