HELP US WITH THE SEARCH FOR THE 6,000 BLACK FIREFIGHTER APPLICANTS WHO ARE WINNERS IN THE MULTI MILLION DOLLAR SETTLEMENT WITH THE CITY OF CHICAGO!!
For several years when I was the field director for Rev. Jesse Jackson's Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, one of my most consistent constituent services assignments was working with the Black firefighters organizations and members in the ongoing fight for justice in the hiring and promotion practices of The City of Chicago and Chicago Fire Department. Now after 15 years they have won and we need to find them so they can be a part of the new hiring pool and the sharing in the $30 Million Dollar settlement.
To help the public appeal of the group, I am asking religious leaders, political organization, community groups and Black media outlets to help spread the message to help find them with announcements!!

Today is a very good day for the African American Firefighters and Paramedics League of Chicago and the Plaintiffs of the 1995 lawsuit of Lewis v City of Chicago. After almost 15 years and last year U.S. Supreme Court 9-0 decision. The Seventh U.S Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in our favor and has order the City to hire 111 African-American firefighters and adjust their pensions as if they had been on the job since 1995. Six thousand others will share “tens of millions of dollars.
