Following the national civil rights leaders meeting with President Obama, Rev. Al Sharpton featured veteran political Organizer Mark Allen on his national radio show as one of the national grassroots community organizers from Chicago, along with those like Rev. Al Sampson, Wallace "Gator" Bradley, and Maureen "Moe" Forte, new National Action Network Chicago Executive Director that were providing local input from grassroots community organizations into the 12 Month National Action Plan, and helping Chicago kick off some of the measurable national grassroots agenda items in Chicago in May, and The Chicago Black Wall Street Project's 3rd Annual Black Economic and Political Conference will serve as kick off their agenda items and how they fit in The 12 Month National Action Plan.

During Rev. Sharpton's National TV broadcast "Measuring The Movement," he specifically mentioned the names of Mark Allen, Wallace "Gator" Bradley, Rev. Al Sampson and national leaders in Chicago that he would be working with on National Action Plan issues and Mark Allen, Board Member of The Chicago Black Wall Street Project will give a public report on his participation in the nTional community organizing and highlight some the measurable agenda items in Chicago and Illinois.

Specifically, Allen will outline the kick of of a Statewide effort at Voter Registration, Voter Education, and Get Out The Vote effort designed in increase Black voter participation by at least 5% in the November elections. Also included will be The Chicago Black Wall Streets ongoing efforts at sustaining and increasing local Black owned and operated businesses and local jobs creation this summer for at-risk youth, adults and ex-offenders; and the kick off of a project with one its members, The Monroe Foundation with The Illinois State Treasurer on increasing access to capital and financial projects to Black and poor urban communities; and the effort to decrease summer crime in Chicago by empowering at-risk youth and adults in staying away from negative and life threatening environments by creating Green jobs by working with local elected officials in identifying local empty lots into community gardens inspired by First Lady Michelle Obama, and more.

There are a lot more specific grassroots agenda items that will be detailed and community members asked as in the New York Convention to take on assignments to make these measurable agenda items real. Most participants in the Tavis Smiley Black Agenda Summit In Chicago asked about follow-up and this upcoming Conference is designed to provide just that, specific agenda items that can be measured in bring needed resources into Black and urban communities.

During his last visit to Chicago, Rev. Al Sharpton called Mark Allen one of Chicago legendary political activists, and according to Allen, this 12 Month National Action Plan is anoother one of those memorable moments in the National Civil Rights Movement and I am humbled along with The Chicago Black Wall Street Project to be able to play a role in kicking off many of the agenda items as part of The 12 Month National Action Plan. More details to be released on Monday, which will also include Chicago hosting the first National Conference of Black Wall Street Organizations in August.
