In the pursuit of its monthly Human Rights Round Table, in March 26th at 6:30pm, the Shabazz Center will host a discussion focused on Women and Immigration within the context of the World Conference Against Racism Review, Durban II, to be held by the United Nations in April 2009, Geneva, Switzerland.Gathering participants from community organizations, feminist activists, migrants unions, public and international officials to share their expertise the Round Table will address the issues of gender-based inequities and discrimination at the workplace, the household, the political stage and in healthcare services.As regards to the Durban Declaration and Plan of Action and others international legislation, the debate will advance concrete proposals to end immigration policies based on racism and discrimination, to promote the recognition of Women's Human Rights, fundamental freedoms and social protection in order to free them from abusive situations.The discussion will be aired by Manhattan Neighborhood Network.For more information, you can go to http://www. un. org/durbanreview2009/
