Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States. Dating back to 1865, it was on June 19th that the Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas with news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free.
The City of Brooklyn Center will be celebrating Juneteenth through two new events:
Juneteenth Golf Tournament
Friday, June 17th at Centerbrook Golf Course.
Tournament includes 9 holes, shirt, meal, non-alcoholic beverage and chance for $10,000 prize on series putting contest.
$75 per person. Team shotgun tee times: 12:30pm or 3pm. Individual tee times: 5:30pm.

Saturday, June 18th 11am - 7pm at Centennial Park.
