This global event to promote peace and well-being through the practice and sharing of Qigong and Taijiquan was originated by Bill Douglas 17 years ago. Since then, millions of people all over the world have joined with others in their individual time zone at 10am on the last Saturday in April to celebrate these healing arts.
The 9th Annual Harlem, New York celebration of this event will be on April 30, 2017 in Harlem’s historic St. Nicholas Park. This year’s theme remains the same: “Cultivating Self-reliance and Resilience through Qigong and Tai Chi.” As in previous years, there will be FREE wellness sessions in Reiki, acupuncture, Seated Massage, Ki Energy, and Energy Facilitation by well known holistic wellness providers serving the community. These services are in addition to the interactive demonstrations in Qigong, Tai Chi, and Natural Movement by noted teachers and students of these arts.
The event begins promptly at 10am in the plaza above the downtown subway entrance at 135th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue (www.hopstop.com for directions). We are also pleased to have the following organizations as official sponsors of the event:
The African Holistic Health Chapter of New York; YMAA Publication Center; St. Mary’s Episcopal Church Manhattanville; the Harlem News Group, Inc., WHCR 90.3 FM, New York
