Sankofa Community Empowerment's Spring Workshop series focuses on the Pan African principal, Kujichagulia (Self Determination), which means "to define ourselves, name ourselves, create for ourselves, and speak for ourselves". This session will explore this concept as it relates to Immigration in the Pan-African Experience.
Our discussion will challenge the group to explore the ways that racism shapes immigration policies. In keeping with the theme of self-determination, this topic will examine Trump's recent comments about Haiti and other African countries and how the policies underlying those comments impact the Pan African community, the root causes that led us here, and viable solutions to the road of self-determination.
