On Saturday, January 12, 2013, the New Black Panther Party and the Afrikan International Merchants Agency will honor the birth anniversary of the immortal Khallid Abdul Muhammad at the Christian Life Center, 1061 Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn.

           

This moving gathering will take place from 6-10pm.

            Khallid Abdul Muhammad was arguably the best organizer of the last quarter of the 20^th century in Black community. He played a most central role in the reemergence of the Nation Of Islam, under his leader Minister Louis Farrakhan. Once he left the Nation Of Islam under circumstances quite comparable to the departure of Malcolm X from the Nation Of Islam in 1964, Muhammad transformed the New Black Panther Party into a national organization and force to be reckoned with as best typified by three Million Youth March mobilizations and an armed confrontation with the KuKluxKlan in Texas in the aftermath of the lynching of James Byrd in June 1998. At the time of his sudden and tragic death on February 17, 2001, he organized over 30 chapters of the New Black Panther Party across the country.

            “I defy anyone to produce someone who has done anything remotely close to what Khallid did during his era,” said Zayid Muhammad, the Party’s longtime national minister of culture, who also served as Muhammad’s chief of staff with the late Malikah Muhammad.

            Muhammad is also one of very few Black leaders of the modern era to name a successor to his work. He designated the tall, fiery young ‘Attorney at War’ Malik Zulu Shabazz to succeed him. Twelve years since Muhammad’s passing, the New Black Panther Party remains a force to be reckoned with under Shabazz’ leadership.
