Greetings; The next Quarterly Leadership Gathering of the NATIONALIST Black LeadershipCoalition (NBLC) will take place on Saturday, January 31, 2009 here in West Palm Beach, Florida. This will be a deliberative, working, solutions-seeking session, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM; and a closing plenary from 4:00 to 5:00 PM. One major focus area will be funding for African-centered education, with a special emphasis on public charter schools. As one observes the process underway to put the Obama administration in place, it is impossible not to notice the array of outstanding, talentedexperts being assembled. If credentials and experience is any indication, President-elect Obama will have a top-flight team working with him to do whatever it is that he and his associates intend to accomplish during the next four years while they hold the reins of political power in America. Rest assured there will be no "second-stringers" on his "starting-team," and only "sixth-man"-calibre individuals set to "come-off-the-bench." I trust you all understand this sports metaphor. A whole team of outstandingtalent WORKING TOGETHER to maximize their potential for success! In stark contrast, our Black Liberation Movement enjoys no such assemblageof the best minds and talents WORKING IN CONCERT AND UNISON to solve the problems burdening our people. We tend to suffer from a "Lone Ranger" complex where each of us tries to be "all things to all black people," usually without the help even of an able and trusted sidekick like "Tonto" was to the cowboy character.Dr. Maulana Karenga attempted to address this predicament by coining the phrase "Operational Unity," meaning that we should be able to practice "unity without uniformity." The phrase "functional unity" is often used interchangeably with operational unity. By this is meant that we do not all have to join the same organization (though that would certainly not hurt) in order to work effectively on causes we hold in common. But such coming together at least on a project-by-project basis is a must if we are to achieve any measure of success with our efforts.By this e-mail I am extending a personal invitation for you to attend our event in Janaury. You need not be dues-paying member of the NBLC to acceptthis invitation, but you must be willing to "give the best of your service"to the work that we are undertaking. It will be up to you to determine what aspect of the work you are willing to take on, and how much we have a right to expect of you, qualitatively and quantitatively.I sincerely hope you will see fit tojoin us here in West Palm Beach on January 31, 2009 as we seek to assemblean educational team that will be second-to-none in its ability and determination to develop SOLUTIONS on behalf of the Black Collective.Peace and Blessings,Baba Amefika GeukaBBB/NBLC; JL-NSCS, Inc.561-689-1536 - Home/Office561-801-6082 - Cellularjlnscs@yahoo.com
