On Saturday, July 17th, Newberry County, South Carolina will be the site for a major march and rally against hate crimes in response to the lynching of a Black veteran Anthony Hill. The march and rally is being organized by the New Black Panther Party and Black Lawyers for Justice, led by attorney Malik Zulu Shabazz. Hill was shot in the head tied up to the pack of a truck and then summarily dragged ten miles. The authorities have a suspect, Gregory Collins, in custody who is being charged with murder. Area residents and critical observers believe that Collins did not act alone and that the investigation should be treated as a ‘hate crime.’ Details of the rally are still developing, but organizers are asking people from all quarters of the country to come the aid of this terrorized community at this critical time. “Make no mistake about it, on July 17th, all roads lead to Newberry, South Carolina,” Muhammad declared emphatically.
