It’s 2009, 146 years since the Emancipation Proclamation, 144 years after the 13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was ratified, 44 years after the Voting Rights Act was ratified. And, now a man of African descent is the President of the United States of America, reputedly the most powerful man on the face of the planet. We’ve been waiting on the world to change… Now, what? MAAFA…The Struggle Continues looks at where we’ve been, where we are and where we hope to go. Under the direction of Michele Hawkins-Jones, this 35 member all male cast, ranging in age from 9 to over 65 years old sings, dances and tells Black men’s trials, dreams and hopes. The renowned choreographer, Obediah Wright returns to St. Paul to re-imagine the dance and is joined this year by the amazing Shedrick Mitchell as musical director. MAAFA…The Struggle Continues Thursday to Sunday February 26 through March 1, 2009 Orchestra Section Ticket Donations are $30 and Mezzanine Section Ticket Donations are $20
