Louisiana Fashion Expo, showcase Louisiana’s finest talents, March 10

As the Crescent City gears up for New Orleans Fashion Week, a new event is on the horizon, set to challenge racial disparities in the fashion industry.
Oliver “OT” Thomas, host of WBOK’s The Good Morning Show, will host the Louisiana Fashion Expo on March 10, 2018 at Watson Memorial Teaching Ministries, located at 4400 St. Charles Ave.
The expo is, in part, in response to the Swedish retailer H&M’s recent controversial ad featuring a Black boy wearing a hoodie that bore the message, “Coolest monkey in the jungle.” The goal, according to event organizer Evangelist Melonie Pichon, is to feature independent fashion designers who desire diversity while valuing African American dollars.
Pichon and her company Single Sister Entertainment plan to feature African American designers both in and out of Louisiana. The event will include a fashion show, vendors and design exhibitions.
