This music series is New York City's longest continuously running grassroots festival dedicated to jazz. More than 500 artists performing in over 50 events at various venues throughout Brooklyn. Brick City Project opens at Gallery Aferro in Newark, NJ on April 24, 2014 with an opening reception on April 26, 2014 at 7pm and will be on display until May 24, 1024. The installation features over thirty scenes depicting Newark life and historical landmarks painted using oil and acrylic on red clay bricks found throughout the City. Scenes include the historic Lincoln Statue, the City skyline on black background and the African-American Heritage Parade.
“The goal of the show is to highlight the better side of Newark through an art form as a way to re-educate the public on the wonders the city possess.” states the artist.
