  • Description: The ideal to "celebrate, validate and authenticate Black Literature" grew out of The Harlem Literary and Arts Festival in 1977 & 1978. Some of the absolute giants in our struggle were presenters: Queen Mother Moore, John Henrik Clarke, Dr. ben, Amos Wilson & etc....awards were first given in 1991, in Harlem, always the "First Weekend In June," this June will be the 19th: Literary people, writers, publishers, distributors, book buyers, etc. as asked to send a review copy of their work by May 1.
