  • 5th Annual NC Juneteenth Celebration & Unity March

  • Jun 20, 2009 from 7:00am to 2:00pm
  • Location: Forest Hills Park
  • Description: Family-oriented, multi-cultural and uplifting event celebrating the ending of slavery in the U.S. begins with a Unity March at 11am for the eradication of modern-day forms of bondage (gangs, drugs, violence, abuse, poverty etc.). Led by NC Juneteenth Celebration Chair, NC Rep. Larry Hall, the march will commence at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church (1007 S. Roxboro St. - Durham) and proceed to Forest Hills Park, the site of the Celebration. From 12pm - 6pm, the Juneteenth Celebration will include food, vendors, kid's activities, health fair, art pavilion and entertainment throughout the day with featured guest, national recording artist, RAY, GOODMAN & BROWN. The U.S. Postal Service will dedicate their annual Black Heritage Stamp. For more information, visit www.durhamjuneteenth.com

  • Description: The International Black Hat Society will be holding its National Membership Drive Meeting in Kansas City, Missouri.Chapter Members from several states will be in attendance for New Membership Induction Ceremony. A Networking Activity will follow, and later in the evening a"Wine & Cheese Sip" with out of town and local guest. This event is open to the public by RSVP.
