  • Description: The 2008 CIN Caribbean Lecture Series will feature the young, outstanding Jamaican entrepreneur, Lowell Hawthorne O.D., Founder, President and CEO of Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery & Grill, the largest manufacturer, distributor and franchisor of Caribbean baked products in the United States. Hawthorne brings to this position a wealth of experience and a solid record of Achievement, both as an accountant and entrepreneur. Lowell Hawthorne graduated from Oberlin High School and Gratham College in Jamaica before migrating to the United States in 1981. He was employed as an accountant to the New York Police Department while pursuing studies leading to an Associate degree obtained at Bronx Community College. He later studied Business Administration at Baruch and Lehman Colleges and is a product of the City University of New York system. In 1989 he, with his close-knit family, opened his first baked goods retail outlet on East Gun Hill Road in the Bronx selling breads, buns and pastries.
