COUNCILWOMAN WILLIAMS

HOSTS PANEL ON IMPORTANCE

OF MINORITY CONTRACTS!

On Tuesday, May 22nd, Orange Councilwoman Donna K. Williams will host a Panel Discussion on the Importance of Minority-Owned Business Contracts and Set Aside Program.

The forum will take place at the Ambrose Ward Mansion, located at 132 South Harrison Street, East Orange from 11am-2pm.

Among the presenters slated to participate are Assemblywoman Britnee N. Timberlake, John Harmon, Sr, founder and CEO of the African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey and Ernest Williams of the Affirmative Action Committee of the City of Orange.

Timberlake, who is now serving in the State Assembly upon the ascension of Sheila Oliver to the Lt. Governor, was the driving force for the enactment of the affirmative action law establishing the area’s set-aside and joint venture program to increase economic opportunity for women-owned, minority-owned, and veteran-owned businesses during her tenure as an Essex County Freeholder.

“Essex County is one of the most economically vibrant counties in this area.

“We need to do all that we can to make sure that those communities who previously have not been a part of that vibrant activity are now fully engaged participants,” said Williams enthusiastically…
