Our VISION is to develop an iconic African-Canadian and African Diaspora Heritage Tourism, Entertainment, Arts and Learning destination on the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) Waterfront. AfriCana Village & Museum is a proposed Afri-centric- Caribbean themed destination inspired by the "Freedom Seekers "of the "Underground Railroad" and tales of the "Great City of Timbuktu" and other Great African civilizations such as Kemet ( Egypt), Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Zanzibar, Zimbabwe, Ashanti Empire, Benin.etc. This initiative is also inspired by UNESCO's Slave Route Project and Bermuda-based African Diaspora Heritage Trail Initiative. AfriCana Village is African-Canadian's response to UNESCO's call for intercultural dialogue and acknowledgment of Africa and the African Diaspora contribution to the world's cultural heritage. AfriCana Village will be a global destination and centre of arts and learning excellence that celebrates and showcase indigenous African-Canadian, African Diaspora and Continental African arts, history,culture, music and cuisine.  Three cultural strands shaped by different forces but linked together by a common history and ancestry. If you love Africentric art, music, history, culture, cuisine, then AfriCana Village is your DESTINATION!. Our vision is to create a hybrid social purpose- enterprise that leverages Africentric arts, culture and heritage to create a unique cultural tourism destination that speaks to the "Africanness" of ALL of humanity. Funded by public/ private partnership investments, AfriCana Village will represent a significant investment in African-Canadian and Diaspora history, heritage, and culture in Canada and North America. AfriCana Village & Museum will be a unique and dynamic addition to the much touted cultural renaissance taking place in the GTA and Toronto's waterfront. It will add variety and spice to the cultural- heritage tourism offerings and product mix in the GTA, Ontario and Canada. We truly believe variety and diversity is indeed the spice of life and our goal is to tell our collective stories at AfriCana Village with the intent of fostering intercultural dialogue with fellow Canadians, while adding to the cultural enrichment of Canada and the world. From early 1600's enslaved Africans to the "Black Empire Loyalists" of the mid-1700's to "Underground Railroad Freedom Seekers" African-Canadians were some of the first non- aboriginal First Nations settlers and pioneers in Canada. They left their mark from Prince Edward Island to Vancouver Island.  In particular you find their mark and legacy in  S.W. Ontario, Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Niagara Falls Region, Halifax, Vancouver. Frankly you can find early African- Canadian presence in just about every province and city in Canada, from North Battleford Saskatchewan to Preston Nova Scotia. Although AfriCana Village will be located in the GTA, we envision AfriCana Village as a national expression of our collective African-Canadianess!. We strongly believe that global cultural travelers of all racial and ethnic background are looking for new attractions, something fresh, inspiring, and different when  visiting Canada and the GTA. We strongly believe AfriCana Village will represent  something NEW and exciting in cultural tourism offerings and will be an excellent place to start for global cultural travelers interested in exploring the great Black-African-Canadian story. From leisure travelers and visitors, to meetings and conventions attendees, we believe AfriCana Village will be a star attraction and a global destination of Africentric excellence in Arts, Culture,...
