As we recover from the tedious work of promoting Africa and African people during Africa Month in May, culminating in the activities of African Liberation Day on May 25, 2012, we must now ensure our resolutions and declarations on behalf of our people are advanced in the days and months to come. We are especially thankful of the key African leaders, including those of WADU and other organizations who have returned from the historic African Union Global African Diaspora (GAD) Summit in South Africa with the good news of the GAD Summit Declaration for the unity of African family in the world. The Summit in South Africa is a significant culminating event based upon centuries of efforts by Africans tirelessly struggling for the freedom, power and protection of enslaved African families, worldwide. < /FONT>

As you know, WADU opened the year of 2012 marking the 112^th anniversary of the formal launching of the Pan African Movement with much anticipation and steadfast focus after the enormous challenges of experiencing and countering the massive and unified re-colonial attacks on Africa and African people from Europe, the USA and a number of Arab states starting in 2011(Ivory Coast, Libya, Mali...) The year also began with the transition of both WADU President and Chair to the ancestral world. Next, we had the surprising transition of WADU Commissioner Queen Mother Dorothy Yaa Lewis. Since then we have had a number of tributes comme morating their excellent contributions to African people.  

As part of our agenda to recommit to the work of those like Dr. Dudley Thompson, Rev. T’Ofori-Atta and QM D. Yaa Lewis, WADU is promoting the African Diaspora Resolution to all corners of the African world. The WADU resolution was inspired by the tribute to Baba Dudley Thompson in Jamaica, when we insisted that the WADU leaders in Jamaica continue Baba Dudley’s work by pressing the Jamaican and CARICOM leaders to take the historic step (like Haiti) to become members of the AU. Recently on May 14, 2012 at the WADU/AU tribute to Ambassador Dudley Thompson at the AU Office in NY, WADU officially declared the Resolution urging the AU to prioritize the restoration of African Diaspora rights to citizenship, economic partnerships, political representation and to act now to es tablish a union government with the strength to protect Africans from the constant threats of re-colonization and re-enslavement. The WADU leaders see the WADU Diaspora resolution as the most concrete steps for African leaders to explicitly and decisively act to restore and secure our rights as African people.
