DECLARATION OF CONSCIENCE ON MALI, AFRICA 8/3/2012
We African Diaspora Leaders, African Leaders, Ministers of Faith, African Intellectuals, Officials, Students and Activists gathered across the world this month of August 2012 in honor of the late great Honorable Marcus Garvey to declare our commitment to peace, justice and the unity of African people to stop the murderous killing of our people in Africa and in particular, the continued destruction of African ancient libraries and sacred sites and centers in Mali. Timbuktu, Mali, is now recognized by the United Nations as an endangered world heritage site. Mali, once a light of world civilizations and a beacon of hope for African liberation and unity has become a center of destruction, reminiscent of the worst periods of slavery, colonialism, and imperialism.
This Mali Declaration comes during Hillary Clinton’s re-colonial victory tour of Africa. Clinton played a pivotal role with former colonial states to unleash massive military attacks against Africa in direct opposition of the African Union and African people. The recent Al Qaeda led attacks on Mali is similar to the assaults on various African states, especially those in northern Africa and emboldened by the enormous foreign sponsored support resulting in the massive destruction of Libya. These extremists, first supported by NATO and some Arab states in Afghanistan and Pakistan, are relentless in their efforts to dominate Africa and destroy Africa’s heritage and history, considered inferior to their extreme versions of Islam.
The former Chair of the African Union Jean Ping on July 14, 2012 stated that “The situation in Mali is one of the most serious we are confronting on the continent,” and “It's persistence is posing a threat to the viability of the state of Mali and the stability and security of the region,”. On July 19, 2012 UN Deputy Secretary-General Jan Eliasson’s called for “standing up for the respect of territorial integrity of all of Mali.” He insisted that “It is a very serious there… Here is one of the greatest humanitarian crises in the world — 18 million people are at risk. One million children are at risk; at fatal risk. Even the United States government on July 12, 2012 called the attack on Timbuktu, Mali "outraged" and an assault on the heritage of all Africans.
With the full support of the AU, West African states are prepared to send troops to stop the destruction in northern Mali but are waiting for the United Nations Security Council approval. Family, the time is now for the AU to decisively act and for us to continue supporting our Homeland, Africa. Therefore we are urging you to support this Declaration of Conscience in Mali to stop this tyranny of death and destruction. We are calling on you to:
1. Urge the African Diaspora and African leaders to sign this Declaration of Conscience below in support of a Pan African agenda for unity, empowerment and to stop the war on Mali, and other parts of Africa sponsored by foreign forces of recolonization;
2. Support a high level African Diaspora delegation to immediately meet with the African Union leaders on issues relating to Pan African unity, security and sustainable development;
3. Urge your elected officials and leaders in the U.S. and the throughout the Diaspora to support the AU initiatives for peace, justice, security and sustainable development of Africa
4. Support the mobilization of the African Diaspora to provide comprehensive support, services, and resources to strengthen the African Union Pan African vision and agenda; and
5. Mark Pan African Congress (PAC) day on October 27, 2012 as a day of re-commitment to action for the ongoing victims of destruction and genocide in Africa.
