RESPONSE TO Report Back From Zimbabwe Black US Delegation Report Back From Zimbabwe Time:3:20PM Sunday, December 27th Location: Sistas’ Place Coffee House https://theblacklistpub.ning.com/events/black-us-delegation-report Freeman Chari December 24 at 1:09pm http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1100963128 Dear Brother Kwasi I have decided to write to you the things that I wish I could say to the people who are going to attend Black US Delegation Report Back From Zimbabwe. I hope you will be able to pass this letter to them. The reason why I had to take time to write this to you is because of the pain that I feel each time I see learned and respectable brothers from USA stand up to defend a tyranny that has killed more people than it has given life to. I refer in particular to The December 12 Movement whose Cde Chimurenga has over the period of our suffering connived with the brutal regime in Harare by deciding to turn a blind eye to blatant brutality by Mugabe. What I would like to make clear to you my brothers who stay afar, is that ZANU PF DOES HOLY THINGS FOR DEMONIC REASONS. The moment you, our brothers ululate to the holy chants without interrogating the motives behind such deeds you expose us to the daggers of ZANU PF. Let me give examples; 1) Land Reform: ZANU PF took advantage of the necessity of land redistribution to cement its grip on power. What honesty is there when we take land from 5000 White people and offer it to 5000 black people in a population of 12 million people. Are we not creating another crop of elite bourgeoisie who will eventually abuse us by taking advantage of a resource that should ideally benefit all people. 2) Operation Murambatsvina: This was an exercise that was done in 2005 to clean up Harare. This exercise displaced and affected more than 1 million people. Indeed Harare, was getting dirty and settlements were emerging everywhere but ZANU PF did not do this to primarily clean the city but it was to punish the people of Harare for voting for MDC. Afterall, most of these settlements had been established by ZANU PF before the elections and bore names of ZANU PF heroes like Chenjerai Hunzvi and Simon Muzenda. 3) Indigenization and Economic Empo-werment Act: Indeed there is need to empower Zimbabweans but which Zimbabweans are being empowered when only Emmerson Munangagwa and Joyce Mujuru linked companies are being afforded the chance to participate in this program. Look, right now Philip Chiyangwa has vasts track of land around Harare when more than 500 000 people are on the waiting list with no hope of acquiring residential stands outside commercial transactions. 4) The Chiadzwa Diamond Fields: ZANU PF again killed and maimed people through military intervention to seal off the fields from the general public. The protection of the fields were holy but what do you say of its conspiracy to allow a ART a company partially owned by Solomon Mujuru to mine and sell outside the structures of government? What are you Brothers from afar saying about the violence and death of people that we experience everyday from this regime? Don’t you see the persecution. Imagine people of my age (28) having stayed out of the country in exile for half a decade with no hope of a decent life and freedom? What are you saying about it our BIG BROTHERS? Finally, I find it quite weird that the December 12 Movement continues to support a regime that has clearly digressed from the objectives of the liberation struggle. Remember we fought for one- man- one-vote, not because we wanted to visit the polling station but because we wanted to cast a vote that would count. Did this vote count in March 2008? We fought for land, we fought for freedom but do we have it? It remains a fact that real freedom fighters are wallowing in poverty as the running dogs of Mugabe go about overzealously looting, killing and maiming under the guise of the revered name of our liberation heroes. Did you know that Joseph Chinotimba never went for war but he is a well known “war veteran”. Did you know that Elliot Manyika the late former Minister who was busy brutalizing people in the name of Chimurenga never went to war but was busy eating and dining with the enemy of the time? So my question to you my brothers is: What are your interests in Zimbabwe if not the people of that country? What Pan Africanism do you preach if Africa cannot unite by heart ? To me Pan Africanism begins when we share the burdens, pains and joy of our neighbours. Africa will never be free until we begin to respect each other even in disagreement. I appeal to you to reconsider your support to Mugabe otherwise history shall judge you harshly like a certain pope who is now haunted by Nazi crimes!
