AFRO-COLOMBIANS: AUTONOMOUS RIGHTS UNDERMINED: Systematic Repression and the U.S.–Colombia Free Trade Agreement
In February 2008, TransAfrica Forum’s staff joined a delegation on a week-long visit to Colombia sponsored by Witness for Peace, a U.S.-based NGO that brings U.S. citizens and organizations to conflict zones hoping to “support peace, justice, and sustainable economies in the Americas by changing U.S. policies and corporate practices that contribute to poverty and oppression in Latin America and the Caribbean.” The February 2008 delegation explicitly sought to bring African Americans to Colombia to learn about the plight of Afro-Colombians.
