THE JAMAICAN GOVERNMENT - UNDER THE ' HERITAGE TRUST'  -  AGREED - TO GIVE US 5 LOTS - FOR  -THE  RASTAHERITAGE SITE. -  UNFORTUNATELY THE GOAL POST KEEPS ON MOVING.

THE REAL TRUTH IS;

THE DEVELOPERS AND THEIR FAMILY ARE NOW LIVING ON THE ESTATE AND HAVE BEEN SELLING 100'S OF LOTS FOR PERSONAL GAIN. (OVER 500 ACRES)

PINNACLE IS NOW TAKEN OVER BY GREEDY DEVELOPERS.

IT'S SHAMEFUL THAT ...WE HAVE NOT   ACCOMPLISHED THE TASK  OF ACHIEVING OUR OBJECTIVES - FOR  PINNACLE.

THE QUESTION IS WHY? -  There is so much talking and no action. - THE TRUTH IS NOT YET TOLD. 

Pinnacle contains the most important and significant natural habitats of biological and traditional human settlement also Pinnacle has an outstanding universal value from the point of science, Rastafarian Movement cultural and tradition. Many have said that the process had been delayed due to political reasons. Several years have gone and many lives – have been shattered. Our children live what they teach, fortunately everyone one have a choice to brake an inauspicious cycle and to know that conquest, domination, money, greed, envy and power – separated individuals from the legacy of LOVE AND CHARITY. 

The Rastafarian passion goes far beyond the narrow definitions of Heritage Site but strives to recognize and protect the sites, also to uphold the Legacy of the movement and the outstanding UNITY demonstrated by human co-existence with the land as well as the cultural and social co-existence, spiritually and creatively within the Rastafarian movement.

JAH!!! SEES THE HEART OF MEN AND JUDGMENT WILL BE UPON THE WICKED.

There was indeed a peaceful Nyahbinghi at Pinnacle.   

In fact their were several I librations held this year celebrating Leonard Howell that were attended to.   

As the entity that made an objection to the Heritage Declaration, it is not about Lots, but rather Governance descriptor Of Monument versus Protected Heritage Site.   This position was supported by the Public Defender Earl Witter, as Monument puts the Site Under Government Control and Protected Heritage Under The Community’s.  Our role and MOU with IOJ & UWI relating to the stalled process of the Rastafari Exhibit/Museum Legacy Strategy  and who controls the artifacts, narrative and business gives us a clear idea of how important Governance terms are.

We are in fact supportive of more Lots being Identified as attested to by our support of the Research Committee That was mandated to research other sites of memory on the property.

Has the Government made available or put in escrow the funds for the purchase of the Identified Lots?  

Respectfully the Howellites have been in attendance at Several functions hosted by the LPH Foundation at Pinnacle, it should moreso be described that The Foundation, led by yourself,  did not create a program this year and instead actively supported one at Country Farm House and attended the Nyahbinghi In the latter part of the evening .  Were the Howellites in attendance there?

We give thanks to the presence of Katherine Howell and her efforts to bridge the gap.  It should also be noted that Bill & Monty Howell were first contacted and attended to in New York by this Rastafari entity, to actively encourage their participation in the Pinnacle process and even the very LPH Foundation.   If there was any ill or prejudicial will towards their inclusion as stakeholders why would these efforts have been made?

We need lawyers representing the stakeholders either collectively or individually to prepare a brief on the Heritage Site description, how the Lots can be addressed in respect of the Howellites, The Nyahbinghi and the wider Rastafari Community as a shared space respectful of the historical nuances that includes that of the Developer Stakeholder who has also placed an objection requiring how the Site will be developed and managed to be included on the titled.

We are suggesting lawyers to remove the tendency towards emotional  responses that don’t present all the clear facts and only differing opinions and unclear angling.  The Governance is related to inclusion Narratives in design and use of the Lots starting with 2 physical structures, that of the Main House and it’s adjoining buildings & Nyahbinghi Tabernacle  & Community Benefit Sharing in what will be a Site Of memory for generations affecting national and international community development.  It will cost much more than the purchase of Lots to address and manage.

The holocaust Of Pinnacle, like Back A Wall, Coral Gardens, Ganja Laws In both Prohibition & Decriminalization etc. are a continuing political agenda irrespective of internal development and needs to be met with a Rastafari Heritage Policy inclusive of Reparations.

For those who took part in the Pinnacle Nyahbinghi, this was indeed peaceful, however a particular group of Rastafari, were absent from the proceedings. I don't know if you noticed, but there was a notable absence of the Howellites at this gathering. 

I am talking specifically about those Rastafari who lived at Pinnacle under the leadership of Leonard Howell, the very Rastafari patriarch whom we celebrate on June 16. I don't know about you but this is a distinctly unsatisfactory state of affairs so far as I'm concerned. 

So while we would like to celebrate positive aspects of  the recent celebratory events, bear in mind that much needs to be done to bring about the level of unity that is necessary to achieve significant advances so far as Pinnacle is concerned.  Until the Howellites, who suffered firsthand the indignity of being evicted from Pinnacle, and having their dwellings burnt down or bull-dozed, are given the respect that they deserve, in any dealings with Pinnacle, we will have problems. We should not continue to look at this matter through Rose-coloured glasses, but face the stark reality of the situation.

For the record in 2017, the present governmental administration did attempt to declare six additional lots as a National Monument (which would have provided protection for the designated plots), but this was blocked and objected to, (notably by a Rastafari entity). This has had the overall impact of putting the whole matter of the National declaration of Pinnacle as a National Heritage site/ National Monument in a state of limbo.
